Bill to ban Toy Guns Proposed in the Senate

July 12, 2007

Why is it that the Democrats idea of legislating is banning things? It’s like that old saying in manufacturing, if an inspector doesn’t find ANYTHING wrong he doesn’t think he is doing his job. An inspector will find the smallest thing wrong if he can’t find anything. If a Democrat isn’t trying to ban SOMETHING he doesn’t feel like he’s doing his job.

The latest item to add to the list of items to ban: toy guns.

A New Jersey senator wants to make it illegal to sell or give to anyone under age 18 toy guns that look so realistic they can be mistaken for a real firearm.

So minors will not be allowed to play with toy guns. How may people over the age of eighteen play with toy guns, other than paintball guns? I’m willing to go out on a limb and say zero. This is just the first step at a larger goal in my opinion. With gun control being the end game.

“We need to stress to our children that guns are not toys, but deadly weapons which should always be regarded with extreme caution and handled with respect,” Scutari said. “Restricting access to imitation firearms will help to drive that point home.”

That sums it up right there, restricting access to imitation guns in the hope that children will grow up to not want to own real guns. He doesn’t come right out and say it but you know that is the true agenda.

Gun rights advocates plan to fight the bill.

“It misses the mark because it demonizes toys instead of criminal behavior,” said Scott Bach, president of the New Jersey Association of Rifle and Pistol Clubs, which is the National Rifle Association’s New Jersey organization.

That is the part that is so frustrating with liberals, they always find an excuse or a reason the person committed a crime. Something that makes the perpetrator a victim, instead of wanting to punish the criminal. There are no consequences for actions anymore, so there is no deterrent to crime.

“This bill seeks to intimidate retailers of even toy water pistols rather than to address the bad acts of criminals who use imitation guns in furtherance of crime,” Bach said. “A parent who gives a child a toy firearm as a gift would be guilty under this legislation.”

Unbelievable.

Here’s an idea for the Democrats, try passing an agenda. You took office with this supposed mandate from the American people and have done nothing. You promised to end the war, you failed, you promised to be ethical, you failed, you promised to be open, you failed. All you have managed to do is hold endless hearings and waste tax payers money, and also proposed the biggest tax increades in history.

Instead of trying to tell us what we can eat, what we should drive, and where we can smoke, why dont you try and do something meaningful for a change.

Along those lines, I think you’d be interested to know of an idea that’s going around in some ‘progressive’ circles. Junkfood is going to go the way of the cigarette, it seems – at least from what Oxford researchers are saying. They’re proposing a “fat tax” on sweet, salty and fatty foods believing that it will save 3,200 lives. I wouldn’t be too surprised if this stupid idea caught on this side of the pond too. I think it is a good idea to tax what you wish to get rid of.

Cops have shot people who only had these realistic toy guns. Why not give a kid a camera or a book. why not give a kid a toy that will enhance their learning or broaden their horizons.

Obvously there are several ways to look at this issue rather than the argument that you must either support kids having realistic toy guns or be against it.

I don’t like Congress either but both parties are the same and it is stupid to support one party and not see its mistakes while demoizing the other as though you are talking about sports teams or something. Blind loyality to a party is weak minded. Neither party is saving us but are destroying us. The only interests Congress serves is Corporate and Zionist.

Polina, isn’t it amazing that the party who is so tolerant, and all inclusive worls so hard to deprive us of so many things. They think they are amrter than us and need to tell us what to do for our own good.

Southernvoice, who gets to decide what we should get rid of?
I want to get rid of abortion, I propose a dead baby disposal fee.
I want to get rid of gay marriage, I propose a sodomy tax.
I want to get rid of illegal immigration, I propose a border crossing tax.
I want to get rid of terrorists, I propose an alQaeda tax.
The fact of the matter is that liberal Democrats are the ones who want to decide what we can and can’t do, the government has no buisness telling us what toys we can give our children, and what we can eat. If there are consequences for our actions, so be it. We have the right to make choices, good or bad, and our choices will lead to their consequences. The government need not stop us from making choices on our own.

And you can take your anti-semite crap the hell out of here.

Not at all surprising, although irritating none the less. Minnesota hasn’t gone that far yet, but the capital city did ban toy guns back in February of this year. Interestingly, they took a completely different approach for pushing the ban. Instead of claiming that children shouldn’t be exposed to guns (which interestingly ties back to the post I wrote about the Navy SEAL memorial and the parents who protested that), they claimed that having toy guns around was “too stressful” on local police to have to deal with them. I suspect it’s just a matter of time before this sort of ban goes state or federal.

This, of course, all ties back into the whole nanny state concept where the government thinks the only way to deal with things are to try to get rid of them completely or regulate them excessively. Where are the parents who should be teaching their kids not to point toy guns at cops? I had plenty of toy guns as a kid and I never once thought it would be a good idea to point them at people – especially cops. Then again, I was taught that sort of thing from an early age.

But we should see this sort of thing coming. It all started with smoking bans and now its going to extend to all aspects of life. If there may be a danger the liberal democrats are going to jump in and try to make sure nobody ever has to be exposed to that risk. This is especially evident in things like trans fats bans (which I’ve been battling here in Wisconsin), toy gun bans and now even federal swimming pool legislation (per my post yesterday). It’s all about saving the people from themselves by taking away their freedom to chose how to live their lives.
