Senator Arlen Spector wants to Probe Justices John Roberts and Sam Alito

July 25, 2007

I believe that president Bush’s lasting legacy will be his supreme court nominations. John Roberts and Sam Alito will shape the direction of the country for years to come. It comes as no suprise then that these two fine Americans would come under attack. What is suprising is who has decided to attack them. Republican senator Arlen Spector has said that he will personally investigate the testimony from their confirmation hearings.

Sen. Arlen Specter (R-Pa.) plans to review the Senate testimony of U.S. Supreme Court Chief Justice John Roberts and Justice Samuel A. Alito to determine if their reversal of several long-standing opinions conflicts with promises they made to senators to win confirmation.

Specter, who championed their confirmation, said Tuesday he will personally re-examine the testimony to see if their actions in court match what they told the Senate.

What the hell is going on here? Two conservative justices were approved to the bench and now that they are issuing rulings that lean conservatives they need to be probed. I am really getting sick and tired of all these probes and hearings. It is getting sickening. It is time for this do-nothing congress to do something. Is this their idea of governing? Hearings are the only thing that this congress seems cabable of.

“There are things he has said, and I want to see how well he has complied with it,” Specter said, singling out Roberts.

He is playing right into the Democrat’s hand as they are already talking about how the court needs to move back to the left, and he seems to be complying.

The Specter inquiry poses a potential political problem for the GOP and future nominees because Democrats are increasingly complaining that the Supreme Court moved quicker and more dramatically than advertised.

Conservatives moving towards conservatism is evidentally a problem and it needs to be addressed.

“They are off to a very disturbing start, these two new justices. I am afraid before long they will call into question some of the most established laws and precedents in our nation.”

This is just further proof that the left is trying to criminalize conservative ideas. Why is it that liberals are so open minded about everything but conservative ideas. We are told by them that we need to accept everyone for who they are, yet they are intolerant and bigoted toward conservatism.

I knew when the dems took over we would be in for hearing after hearing for the next 2 years.

I posted this week about they are all over the firing of 9 prosecutors all the while soc sec goes bankrupt, tens of thousands of people walk across the boarder each day, tax cuts are expiring, and on and on.

They are after scandel or making them up rather than the business that needs doing.

I am not sure when specter comes up for re-election, but I believe that he is trying to play to a more liberal PA vote.

What really amazes me is that the American people have lost control of their government. They act as if congress has nothing better to do than to pursue this sort of thing. Personally I don’t think that the American public really cares at all about all of these little investigations going on and would rather see congress doing something useful for the country… Then again, that might just be me.

This is beyond ridiculous. This is about the last straw for me with Specter!! I was furious when Bush supported him over the more conservative Toomey and when I asked a Bush guy why, he said, “The devil you do know is better than the one you don’t.” Well I think Specter has done enough to bite Bush in the butt that he has to be regretting that decision.

It is getting sickening, isn’t it. Everyone seems to be doing whatever they can to dis-associate themselves with Bush, but this goes too far.
