Latest Poll (08/07), President Bush’s Approval Ratings Continue to Rise
This has to be bad news for the defeatist left out there. These people have based their whole future on bashing Bush, they have no agenda other than to oppose the president. This latest poll is the second in a row where the president’s numbers are rising. As if this weren’t enough to send the liberals screaming in the streets, there is this news that the war is gaining in popularity. The left has staked so much in opposing Bush and losing the war that if the presidents numbers continue to rebound, or worse yet for the liberals, if we win the war it will spell certain disaster for the left. Look for them to begin an all out war on the war and on the president in the coming days as they try to stem this tide. It’s just too bad they don’t care as much about winning the war as they do about winning the white house. They are so passionate about their anti-Bush rhetoric, yet so unpassionate about securing America’s interests.
From the latest poll:
in the data just about to be released from our weekend poll – Bush’s approval rating has recovered slightly to 34%. That’s not a big jump, but it is the second consecutive poll in which the president’s numbers have been higher rather than lower. Also, we are seeing a slight uptick in the percentage of Americans who say the “surge” in Iraq is working. That may not be a total surprise given the general tone of news out of Iraq recently, including the positive light on the situation put forth by Michael E. O’Hanlon and Kenneth M. Pollack in their widely-discussed New York Times op-ed piece “A War We Just Might Win” on July 30. But it represents a change.
You can read my take on the above mentioned New York Times acticle here.
The fact that the surge is working and that the American people are beginning to see it is particularly bothersome for Democrats. This is why the Democrats have been working so hard to pass a bill with timetables for defeat before Gen. Petraus’ report comes out. They don’t want good news so they are trying to nip it in the bud just in case the news is good. The American people do not WANT to lose, they have just been told for so long that we can’t win, and that we have ALREADY LOST, that they start to believe it. Now with the early results of the surge looking good Bush’s and the war’s approval ratings are starting to improve.
And then there is this:
Indeed, the most recent New York Times/CBS News poll itself found a slight increase in the percent of Americans saying that the U.S. did the right thing in taking military action in Iraq, and were so uncertain about it that they redid the survey. And found the same results.
The new York Times runs a poll on whether the Iraq war was the right thing to do. When the results come back and they don’t get the answer they are looking for, they run the poll again. Only to get the same results, the number of American people who believe the Iraq war was justified continues to rise. Much to their dismay they ran the results.
You tell me if the media leans left or not when the New York Times tries to run a poll twice when the results aren’t anti-Bush enough.

That and Congress’s ratings are in the toilet. Not a good scene for the Libs or the media…
