Hillary Clinton Admits a Terror Attack Would Help Republicans

August 25, 2007

hillary_clinton.jpg  During a speech last week Hillary Clinton said the following:

“It’s a horrible prospect to ask yourself, ‘What if? What if?’ But if certain things happen between now and the election, particularly with respect to terrorism, that will automatically give the Republicans an advantage again, no matter how badly they have mishandled it, no matter how much more dangerous they have made the world,” she said.

First, she is the one politicizing terror now. She shouldn’t even be thinking about what party an attack would help, she should tell us what she would do if America was hit again. Democrat candidates lashed out at her for this, rightly so.

“Frankly, I find it tasteless to discuss political implications when talking about a potential terrorist attack on the United States,” said Connecticut Sen. Chris Dodd, who is challenging Clinton for the nomination.

“If we’re talking about America being attacked, the last thing we should do is be engaged in political calculation,” added rival John Edwards. “I strongly disagree with what [Clinton] said.”

She is saying a terror attack would help the Republicans. She was trying to say that Republicans have made the world less safe by the actions the president has taken following Sept. 11th. Actions the Democrats also voted for, lest we forget. She was essentially trying to say, if we get hit again it would be Bush’s fault. I agree with her on two things she said.

First if she wants to use the word mishandled fine, I believe the Iraq war could have been handled differently also. However I believe the left would have found my way was even more unacceptable and is probably a reason we didn’t do it. We should have gone in there at full force and destroyed the terrorists wherever they were, that includes residences, mosques, grave yards, wherever. We were too concerned about this looking like a type of holy war, or a was against all Muslims so we tried to fight in a more politically correct way. In that respect I believe we could have fought a better war.

Second, I believe she is right when she says a terror attack would help the Republicans. But this leads to the question, why? Why would a terror attack help Republicans? The answer is obvious, because Democrats are weak on national security. They have been trying to undercut the war on terror for years now. They oppose the president at every turn. Hillary continues to say that George Bush has made the country less secure. The Democrats have been trying to surrender in Iraq. They have said that Bush is overstating the threats that we face.

So what bothers me more about this isn’t the fact that Democrats are weak on national security, I have known this for a long time. But rather the fact that Hillary KNOWS it. She knows that the Democrats are weak on national security and she knows we still face threats to our country and she  still goes out there spewing this rhetoric.

She understands that the Democrats stance on the war on terror is what makes us unsafe and she is worried about it. She, like all the other Democrats would rather oppose the war, and measures that protect us, and win the white house then actually try to keep us safe while losing their extreme left base.

Now, if Hillary knows that the Democrats positions make us less safe, how many other Democrats know this? I would say they all know it. They just don’t say anything. Perhaps that is why the other Democrat candidates are upset about her comments. Not because she politicized terror but because she let the cat out of the bag.

You know that there are members of the far left that believe George Bush is going to orchestrate a terror attack before the election to ensure another Republican president is elected in 2008.

there was an incredible article in Time a few weeks back about the culture of fear we live in today. there is no question that whether Hillary or Bush, Democrat or Republican, Liberal or Conservative, almost everyone is focused on fear.

we are fearful of terrorism. we are fearful some boogy man will sneak in some dirty bomb. or we think something terrible will happen. well, with such an attitude, it will. there is no question that terrorists are winning. their goal is fear, and now they have caused it. but they havent even done anything to us in 6 yrs. and still their long arm stretches. it grips us with fear. it chills us and sends shivers down our spines. we believe in IT.

IT is the monster in our closet, and IT wont go away until we turn the lights on.
