The War on Poverty is Lost
The war has failed.
It is time to withdraw and cut our loses.
We have spent way too much money on a war we can’t win and it’s time to surrender.
No, I’m not talking about the Iraq war. And no, I haven’t turned into a moonbat. What I am talking about is the war on poverty. The war on poverty is either one of the biggest failures of the Democrat party or one of the biggest frauds ever perpetrated on the American people. Or both.
The war on poverty has never been any more than putting people on the government dole and making sure we can keep them there. The whole idea of welfare was to get people to believe it is acceptable to live off of taxpayers money. They even have made it sound romantic in a way. The liberals tell the people that it isn’t their fault that they can’t make anything of themselves, it’s the system that is unfair and holding them back. Therefor it is only fair that the system that makes it impossible for them to succeed must then support them fo life to even everything out.
This is what Star Parker, president of the Coalition on Urban Renewal and Education, has to say about America’s failed poverty war policy:
“It is very sad what the liberals have done with their war on the poor in this country.”
“After 40 years of failure, they still insist that they want to expand this war, that they think they should pour more money into this war,”
Stop the surge! The Democrats answer to everything is, we need more money, and we need it now.
She goes on to say:
Parker said the war on poverty has really been a war waged by liberals on four fronts — “war on the family, the war on thought, the war on tradition and a war on religion.”
“The poverty that we see today is directly related to people having children outside of marriage and then not working to support those children,”
Why should they have to work to support those children when they can stay home and take my hard earned money, and your’s to do nothing all day? Where is the incentive for them to go to work. The incentive is non-existent.
And furthermore:
“Lots of liberals got hold of the Black community and started convincing them that there is nothing wrong with dependence on government — we started seeing the Black family destroyed,” Parker said. “We saw welfare policy enter in with rules that say don’t work, don’t save, don’t get married, and we’ll fix all of your life problems for you.”
Rewarding laziness is what this comes down to, giving incentives for those who are capable of working, but would rather not. I would rather not work also, but I would rather work for what I have then to have it handed to me.
Now let me toss in my disclaimer here. I understand that there are many people who for unforeseen cicumstances find themselves needing assistance. I have no problem with that, I have no problem with the government providing a little TEMPORARY assistance while someone gets back on ther feet, although technically the government isn’t required to do so. I am talking about the people that the liberals have swindled and brainwashed into believing that they can never make anything of themselves and need to let the government take care of them.
This concept is so insulting to me. The fact that they have the nerve to tell people they aren’t smart enough to do anything for themselves is pathetic. Yet, that is what they have done, and they have managed to make people believe that they are caring for them while they are actually calling them stupid and useless. While this is going on the Democrats also use the policy of fear that they like to say the president uses when talking about terrorism.
The fear tactic that they use is to tell the same people that they believe are to disadvantaged to take care of themselves that the evil conservative Republicans will take it all away from them, so they must vote Democrat.
“The message of rights and entitlements equals control for liberals,” said Parker. “The best thing we can do is to gradually start dismantling these massive entitlement programs of the 20th century.”
A permanent underclass formed by the Democrats to ensure a certain voting block. With the welfare class consistently voting Democrat I have to say that this is not one of the greatest failures of the Democrat party, it is a resounding success. So then it has to be one of the greatest frauds ever perpetrated on the American people.

Star Parker knows about as much about poverty and AMerican history as my cat. The War on Poverty itself was not at all about welfare but about training and motivational rehab–the kind of thing she thinks she is doing. It was a flop. Far better are Social Security and other income programs like the EITC. They help to cure poverty. Most European countries have far less poverty than the U.S.. They take care of their people. Parker is living in a dream world, but I guess it is a living for her.
