George Washington University Student Group Promotes “Islamo-Fascist Awareness Week”, Draws Ire from the Left

October 11, 2007

This is a typical example of what happens when someone on the right dares to speak against something such as Islamo-fascism. The left tries to portray the right as bigots, they will not or cannot accept the fact that you can talk about a specific group of hateful Muslims without condemning all Muslims. I will use the line so many others have used before, all Muslims are not terrorists, but ALL the terrorists are Muslim.

The story linked to above is about a George Washington University student group called the Young America’s Foundation. This is a conservative group who was holding an event called “Islamo-fascist Awareness Week”. You can guess what happened next, but in case you can’t, I will tell you what happened. Or better yet I will also show you what happened next:

What happened next is that the students responsible for holding the Islamo-fascist Awareness week were smeared and called bigots. The poster above was one of many that were displayed in protest of the Young Americans Foundation actually talking about a certain group of people who want to harm America. This is what happens when you have a differing opinion than the left, they smear you. It doesn’t matter whether you may be factually correct because the left plays off of emotion. They are able to convince their base that if you hate any aspect of a culture, such as the part of Islam which says “death to America”, you must be a bigot. There can be no separation between the moderate Muslims and the extreme, suicide bombing, terrorist side of the religion. At least to the left.

The truth is that this conservative group was not condemning an entire religion, it was simply trying to bring awareness to a certain ugly side of that religion, a side that believes that it is okay to kill infidels in order to win praise from their God.

Gor also stressed that the incident will not prevent his group from hosting Islamo-Fascism Awareness Week on campus the week of Oct. 22-26, when author David Horowitz will speak, the TV mini-series “The Path to 9/11” will be shown, and a panel of people who have fled Iran will discuss their escape from the brutal regime there.

More than 140 other college campuses will host the week-long event, which was conceived by the Terrorism Awareness Project of the David Horowitz Freedom Center in Los Angeles to “confront the two ‘Big Lies’ of the political left: that George Bush created the war on terror and that global warming is a greater danger to Americans than the terrorist threat.”

America’s students need to see this. There is a dark side to the Muslim faith that needs to be dealt with, needs to be destroyed. I am not calling for all Muslims to be condemned as the Democrats would have you believe, I am simply trying to draw attention to the fact that Islamo-fascists are out there and they want to take down our country.  I apologize to those of you on the left for trying to expose the threat that will probably always be hanging over our shoulder, I know it is inconvenient for you, but it does exist.

“The left wants to obliterate anybody who disagrees with it, and if you do, you will be called a racist, a sexist, a homophobe or an Islamophobe, so their campaign against our events has been to try and tar us as anti-Muslim,” the conservative writer and activist said.

That is one of the biggest problems we now face in this country, the denial that there is a group of terrorists who want to destroy us for who we are, for what we do. These radicals are not going to stop if we leave Iraq, these people have attacked us many times before Iraq and September 11th and they will do so again. To call people racists because they are trying to educate people to the dangers we face is shortsighted and ignorant. The truth in this case is that the student group was also offering this “Islam-Fascist Week” to also defend moderate Muslims who are not part of the radical groups.

“Our event is actually a defense of Muslims,” Horowitz stated. “The Islamofascists have killed 200,000 moderate Muslims in Algeria – they’re killing, slaughtering moderate Muslims in the Sudan and Afghanistan,” so left-wing opponents “cooked up this lame ad.”

The true bigots here are the students who believe that because you are condemning terrorists, you must be condemning a whole religion. They are bigots on two counts: they are bigots because THEY are the ones who believe all Muslims are terrorists and just won’t say it. If they didn’t believe that to be true they wouldn’t have a problem with a group trying to bring awareness to a particular dark side of this religion. Secondly they are conservo-phobes. They are bigoted against conservatives and conservative principles. Just look at the hate displayed in that flyer toward conservatives. If only they could focus their hatred on the people who want us dead, instead of the people who are trying to educate others about the people who want us dead.

As always, do as we say, not as we do. Movements are only ever concerned with politically correct causes. Anything that springs up that might offend somebody is slapped down or criticized heavily. It’s really pathetic that things have gotten to this point. Even worse is that groups within larger groups cannot be criticized without the assumption that the whole is being insulted. You cannot be critical of terrorists without offending Islam. You cannot be critical of gang bangers without offending blacks. It’s an all or nothing nightmare.

I’m sorry Tommy, I must have lost myself there for a minute. 🙂
You are right again arclightzero, the left is the group in this case who are making generalizations when we talk about Muslims who are terrorists. We aren’t talking about all Muslims, I actually get tired of having to say that, but the left portrays it that way. They are the ones that try to continue the steriotype in order to call us racists.
