Barack Obama Supports Giving Driver’s Licenses to Illegal Aliens

In last weeks debate Barack Obama, while taking a shot at Hillary, said what the American people want is straight answers to questions. Then he was asked about whether he supported handing out driver’s licenses to ILLEGAL aliens, his answer wasn’t so forthcoming:
“On the issue that apparently tripped up Senator Clinton earlier, the issue of driver’s licenses for illegal immigrants, I take it, Senator Obama, you support giving driver’s licenses to illegal immigrants. Is that right?” asked Blitzer.
“When I was a state senator in Illinois, I voted to require that illegal aliens get trained, get a license, get insurance to protect public safety. That was my intention,” said Obama.
“And – but I have to make sure that people understand. The problem we have here is not driver’s licenses. Undocumented workers do not come here to drive. They don’t go – they’re not coming here to go to the In-N-Out Burger. That’s not the reason they’re here,” he said.
“They’re here to work. And so instead of being distracting by what has now become a wedge issue, let’s focus on actually solving the problem that this administration, the Bush administration, had done nothing about it,” Obama added.
“Well, let’s go through everybody because I want to be precise,” said Blitzer. “Do you support or oppose driver’s licenses for illegal immigrants?”
Obama responded: “I am not proposing that that’s what we do. What I’m saying is that we can’t …”
At this evasion, the audience started laughing. “No, no, no, no,” said Obama. “Look, I have already said, I support the notion that we have to deal with public safety and that driver’s licenses at the same level can make that happen. But what I also know … Wolf, is that if we keep on getting distracted by this problem, then we are not solving it.”
Blitzer then quizzed the other candidates for a “yes or no answer.” Former North Carolina Sen. John Edwards said he opposed giving driver’s licenses to illegal aliens, while noting that once he put people on a “path to citizenship,” he would let them get licenses. As in the earlier debate, Dodd said he opposed giving licenses to illegal aliens.
Then Blitzer put the question to Obama again. “Senator Obama, yes or no?” he asked.
“Yes,” said Obama.
So much for straight answers to questions, huh? At least when pressed he finally gave us his position, a position that 77% of Americans disagree with by the way. Hillary waited until the governor of her state was forced to drop his attempt at handing out voter ID’s, I mean driver’s licenses to illegals before she lied and took a definative stance against the policy on the very same day Spitzer gave up on this issue. But the question to me remains, how the hell could Obama get tripped up by the same question that felled Hillary just two weeks ago? Does this just show us his true inexperience? I think that on top of how wrong he is on this issue, this also shows us he doesn’t have the political savvy he hopes to someday have. He is truly not ready for prime time.

I must say, Obama seems like a nice and decent guy, but his policies are absolutely crazy. Even Edwards has the brains to be against drivers licenses for illegals.

You may not be NH residents. You are U.S. citizens and Veterans give their lives for citizens no matter what state they come from. NH has violated the law and Constitution to inflict pain and suffering on my family and me because I volunteer my time to help a Madbury NH family that the selectmen openly brag about destroying residents they do not think belong in their town. I had never met this family before they became so desperate they asked for my help because of a letter to the editor that I wrote. I do not even live in Madbury NH. I am 100% disabled. I was injured three times during my tour. Twice during combat related missions during the Vietnam Conflict. My PTSD was diagnosed only this past year because I never talked about my experiences until I wrote a book and they became public. I have relived my Convoy’s as an American Advisor and my first kill every day since my return in 74. I just never believe any one needed to know the dirty parts of a conflict. We as veterans are not fighting for you (people we do not know) we are fighting for our nation and the freedom it brings.
I do not ask people to put them selves in harms way. What Veteran’s give the U.S. can never be explained. What we did and the lives we lived over there is not possible for you that have never served to conceive. When newspapers and media feel that the words of a disabled veteran being tortured by the NH courts and government to silence his free speech is not worth informing the public we as a free nation no longer exist. I have violated no laws. What I ask people to do is talk about me to your elected officials, letters to your editor or blogs, I continue to help this Madbury family because they could be any of you. Freedom is worth fighting for and I can not let what so many Veterans that gave over the history of the U.S. be diminished by illegal government acts.
