United States to Start Reducing Troops in Iraq Next Month

November 25, 2007

petraeus.jpgHere is how this is supposed to work. Our United States commanders on the ground in a war zone will tell the president when it will be okay to start troop withdrawal in a time of war. It is not up to politicians sitting at home to tell the president how to run the war and pass timetable for defeat just for political gain. These same politicians, if they felt strongly about it, could simply cut off the money to fund the war. They won’t, they are afraid to. So instead they have tried 41 times now to pass a bill requiring the president to start troop withdrawal.

After all these years of fighting in Iraq the president is going to start troop withdrawals. Is it because the Democrats and anti-war left have finally worn him down? No! It’s because commanders have reported enough progress in certain parts of Iraq to warrant less troops there. Imagine that, people who are actually there know better than politicians over here what the status of the war is. Who would have thunk it.

The president has stuck to his guns all along, he has continued to do what he promised he would do after September 11th no matter how his approval ratings have plummeted and we are finally seeing some progress in Iraq. We will now see our first troops come home without replacements being sent in.

Overall U.S. troop levels in Iraq will fall by about 5,000 when a combat brigade completes its pullout from the country’s volatile Diyala province next month, U.S. military officials said on Saturday

The 3rd Brigade, 1st Cavalry Division is the first brigade not be replaced by fresh troops from the United States since the U.S. commander in Iraq General David Petraeus announced plans to cut forces by some 20,000 by July 2008 as violence ebbs

We now have the right man leading the way in Iraq with General David Petraeus and the troop surge has worked even though the Democrats (the dishonorable Harry Reid) called it a failure before it even began. Has this taken alot longer than I hoped? Yes, of course. I would have loved to see us carry out this strategy from the beginning, and it appears as though it was Donald Rumsfeld who was against this strategy. But we are now carrying out this strategy and we are making huge gains.

So Democrats will press on to hurry up and surrender even as we make strides and there is talk of victory in the air. Democrats better be careful or we might actually win. This would devastate them.

It’s about time that people begin to understand what is going on and why instead of simply trying to micromanage this war. Of course, I have little hope that the dems in congress will understand and accept the reality of the situation, but hopefully more Americans will. Hopefully they will realize Bush isn’t just some dummy in office, but has a good plan that will work. In time, the troops will come home. The war will end. But cutting the strings and forcing everybody out right now will not accomplish that goal.

Bush and the military commanders know what to do and how to do it. They have a plan and have HAD a plan all along. It’s just unfortunate that the dems, the media and all the sheep out there aren’t (weren’t) willing to let things progress as they were intended before jumping the gun and demanding an end.
