Latest Iowa Poll (12/18) Has John Edwards Leading

December 18, 2007

edwards-ugly-face2.jpg The latest Iowa poll has John Edwards leading both Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama.

In an InsiderAdvantage poll in Iowa, Edwards leads among (977) likely voters 30-26-24 over Clinton and Obama. Edwards is also the clear second choice winner, 42-29-28 over Clinton and Obama. This is the first poll to show Edwards solely in the lead in Iowa since July.

Now this is getting interesting. As much as I think a Hillary nomination would be the death blow for Democrats, she is much too polarizing and her negatives are too high, I want to see her stopped as soon as possible. I can’t stand the thought of even giving her a chance in the general election, I want to see her candidacy ended as soon as possible.

As far as Obama goes, he has moved much farther left than Hillary and could possibly be worse for the country than Hillary. I have to say though, I think that Obama can reach people with his delivery and his speeches, so I worry about him gathering the Democrat nomination. Too many people could be sucked in by style instead of substance.

This is why I find this latest poll so interesting. John Edwards, I believe, may be the easiest so-called major candidate to beat in a general election. If he could somehow pull off a victory in Iowa and then move into New Hampshire with some momentum, who knows what could happen? But what I do know, or at least believe,  is this, as long as the Republican nominee is not Mike Huckabee the Republicans would have to be the early favorites in the general election over John Edwards. And that would be a good thing for the country.

It is so hard because Hillary, Obama and Edwards would all be equally scary for this country. I really detest Edwards because of his complete and utter disregard for a logical foreign policy view. He once said that Israel was the greatest short term threat to world peace. Someone who thinks like that scares the hell out of me.

You don’t know what you’re talking about. John Edwards beats all of the Republican contenders by 10 – 20% in every poll done, far better than HIllary or Obama.

It’s just my opinion. Sorry you don’t agree with it.
