A Letter to New Hampshire Governor John Lynch

January 30, 2008

Governor Lynch,

I wanted to take this opportunity to thank you. Yes, thank you for finally realizing that last year’s budget was irresponsible. Of course, instead of admitting that you were not fiscally responsible last year you decided to blame the “national economic downturn”, in other words, you blamed President Bush.

I find this cowardly, unacceptable, and frankly quite unbecoming of a head of state. The truth is that you were warned by fiscal conservatives that your revenue projections were inflated, overblown, unobtainable, and unrealistic. You chose to ignore the warnings because you were too drunk with your new-found Democratic majority to listen to the voices of reason.

Your budget raised taxes and fees by $100 million, and we still have a budget deficit which will balloon to $150 million. That is not even including the estimated $400 million for education funding. Where is that money coming from?

During your state of the union address you said you would veto any bill that included new spending, however you did not rule out further tax increases.

I would also like to thank you for reminding New Hampshire voters why Democrats haven’t held majorities in all branches of state government in over one hundred years.

I look forward to voting against you for the third time. You know what they say, the third time’s a charm. New Hampshire had better hope so, we can not afford another governor John Lynch term.

That’s a great letter and I can’t wait to see what sort of response you get back (you did send it, didn’t you?).

You hit on what seems to be a common liberal plague these days; that being if things don’t work out as planned, blame Bush and the country that Bush supposedly destroyed.

I think it’s sad that the liberal mantra for 2008 is “don’t blame me, Bush did it.” There is no accountability with these people.. But then again, why do you need accountability when you can just blame somebody else for your mistakes?

We should start referring to the President as George “The Fall Guy” Bush.

I did send it to the governor. I also sent it to two newspaper’s editorial sections hoping to get it published. I will probably send it to more newspapers.
As far as the response I will get, I am not expecting much. I sent the governor a letter last year in which I wrote about several New Hampshire issues I was concerned with, I told him I was concerned with the direction the state was taking. I thought that by taking on several issues in one letter I would get something other than a form letter on a single issue in return. How could I receive a form letter about more than one issue? It didn’t work, I got back a form letter, and the kicker is, the letter thanked me for my concern about an issue that I didn’t even write about in the letter I sent to the governor.
