New Hampshire State Representative to go on Hunger Strike Until Bush is Impeached

February 24, 2008

 Cross posted on Grizzly Groundswell

New Hampshire state representative Betty Hall has decided that she will go on a hunger strike until proceedings on President Bush’s impeachment are carried out. This 87 year old, senile Democrat legislator has decided that this issue is the most important issue New Hampshire faces.

“I want the investigation of the Bush administration in Washington to get started,” said Hall, who said U.S. Rep. John Conyers, D-Mich., is sitting on impeachment legislation in the House Judiciary Committee at the behest of Majority Leader Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif.

“I don’t want to die and I don’t want to hurt my health,” said Hall, “but I need people to understand how important this issue is.”

New Hampshire faces a $50 million budget deficit this year which will balloon to $150 million if liberal governor John Lynch continues his irresponsible spending.

The state education funding is in shambles, and governor Lynch’s plan is sure to add additional taxes that will weaken the middle class even more and force them out of New Hampshire.

New Hampshire residents are seeing individual choices being taken out of their hands and personal freedoms being eroded because the government feels they have to babysit us because they know what is best for us.

The state government is taking parental rights away from the parents and handing them over to the state government.

All of those are real issues that New Hampshire faces, and what does one of our state representatives think is the most important issue? The impeachment of a president over policy disagreements? Since when did differing policies become an impeachable offense? If you want to change policies, you change the president, Betty. You change the president through something called elections, Betty. We have elections every four years, Betty. We have an election this year, Betty.

Betty Hall has also proposed a resolution to debate impeaching President Bush, and VP Dick Cheney, to which New Hampshire GOP Chairman Fercus Cullen released this statement:

“Today’s hearing is another sign that the angry, extreme left-wing has taken over the New Hampshire Democratic Party. Really, do political disagreements over foreign policy rise to the level of impeachment? This is a hyper-partisan resolution, and the fact that it is even seeing the light of day, never mind getting a full public hearing in a House Committee, is a disgrace and an embarrassment. Democrats at the Statehouse are wasting taxpayers’ time and money to make a foolish political point. Will Governor Lynch ever stand up to the angry left wing of his party? Do Jeanne Shaheen, Paul Hodes, and Carol Shea-Porter agree with this impeachment resolution? Their silence signals agreement.”

I just still find it hard to believe that New Hampshire has moved so far to the left that Betty Hall’s hunger strike and resolution won’t be seen as outrageous. I like to think that there is at least a little sanity left in this state and that most of our state representatives realize that New Hampshire faces some real important issues in the upcoming year, and the impeachment of the president is not one of them.

President Bush will be gone in less than one year, can we please move on in this state and try to solve the real problems this state faces?

Read more about this fool here.

It’s a shame that they never stay on the hunger strike once the cameras and press leave.

Funny how that works, Michael, isn’t it. Perhaps I am just keeping her in the spotlight longer than she would have been.
I.T., thanks, I try. 🙂 She is a fool, I see no other way to describe her.

Is there no limit to what these loons will do?

Outside groups asking for income taxes in town meetings, wealthy yuppies paying the UN to corrupt the kids in the schools, where will it end?

It’s just unfortunate that they never make it far enough to seriously harm themselves. I mean, what do they actually prove other than their own narrow-minded idiocy? Do they not see past their own bloated sense of self-importance to understand that they cannot make any sort of difference by doing such things?

One act of stupidity will not change the world, no matter how self-righteous he or she is.

Yes most of what you say is true but her point is very important. One would hope that legislatures can do a little multi tasking, it should be expected. The problem with saying Bushes time is almost at an end is Iran. I think we owe it to the world to censure this man somehow. We have to stand up and say loud and clear this administrations policies were not ours. Ten months is a long time with a dangerous man at the helm.

87? how much can she possibly eat anyway? Shouldn’t be too difficult to give up that tea & toast. I hope she is only saying that to get attention, or else you know who will be going to her house to hook her up with a g-tube!

Gollywhizzer children, you’re sure hard on an 86 year old woman! Betty turns 87 in March.

Did any of you read her bill HR 24 she put forth before the NH legislature? Makes sense to me. You can read the whole thing, plus Betty’s testimony for the legislative committee Feb. 19th, on our site, http://impeachthem.com.

Consider if the woman you call senile were president, we would have no war in Iraq, so the feds would have a half-trillion bucks to devote to needed services right here at home. Bet your state wouldn’t be in such bad economic situation if that $500-billion could have been spread around the USA proportionately.

More important, if Betty Hall were president we would have a government that obeys the laws and does not subvert the constitution. A government you can believe it, imagine!

I consider Betty Hall to be a great patriot, in the tradition of our greatest patriot and founder, Tom Paine. He wrote a book called “The Rights of Man.” You should check it out.

And I was honored to speak to the legislature myself on Feb. 19th. My testimony’s also available at ImpeachThem.com.

It’s your country. Don’t you think you ought to study on it so you know what you’re talking about? Don’t you think our commonwealth is worth saving? All Betty Hall is saying is that a gang of criminals have stolen our republic, and you have both the right and the obligation to restore justice and reclaim democracy in our United States.

You may return to insulting a great woman now. Your 2-bit insults will never hurt a woman like Betty Hall.

    Hutch,

A couple of points need to be made.

“If Betty Hall were president” … She didn’t run. She isn’t the President. These are all moot points falling into the category of “If I was President, I would have..”

Would have, could have, should have – i.e. Didn’t happen so deal with the present day. A person can wax and wane all they want about hypothetical scenarios but in the end it is only babbling and whining.

Yes, our commonwealth is worth saving. There is no argument on that. Is there a point in impeaching Bush at this stage? Nope. He and his group are headed out the door so impeaching them would only create chaos for a short term. Let’s see, that would put Nancy Pelosi as the President until Obama kicks her out of office. Does it really matter with a Senate and House controlled by the Democrats? Bush is just warming the office chair for the next President at this stage. He is in the lame duck status now.

As for the half a trillion spent, yes it could have been put to better use. Like repaying the debt not redistributing it to the states in violation of the US Constitution. Few if any Democrats or Republicans obey the laws or follow the Constitution. Bad argument to pick.

    Last point Hutch,

I agree Betty Hall will not be hurt by the “2-bit insults” posted on this blog.

I very highly doubt she’s reading any of this.
