Was There a Florida Conspiracy to Screw Mitt Romney?
Robert Novak recently wrote the following:
Close supporters of Mitt Romney have been injecting into the political rumor stream an unsubstantiated report that Sen. John McCain obtained the vital endorsement of Florida Gov. Charlie Crist by promising him the vice presidential nomination.
Spreading that rumor reflects the anger in the Romney camp over the late endorsements of McCain by Crist and Sen. Mel Martinez of Florida. Until then, the Romney insiders claim, their private polls showed a lead in the Jan. 29 Florida primary that in fact delivered a crushing victory for McCain.
Is it beyond the realm of possibility that John McCain had a back room deal worked out with the moderate governor of Florida for the vice president position? I don’t think it is. Governor Crist’s endorsement did come very late in the process.
We will have to wait and see, but if McAmnesty picks Governor Crist as his vice president candidate the rumor mill will be turning. Picking Crist will not calm the tide of the anti-McCain conservatives like myself, it will just add fuel to the fire.
Was the fix in?

I didn’t get to see the whole thing but Charlie Crist was on FNC last nite so there is definately something to this story, I just hope to God that Juan does not pick him. He probably just said that to win Florida anyway. Charlie is just a little too slick…..
