Does Hillary Clinton Believe Barack Obama is a Muslim?

March 3, 2008

When Hillary Clinton was asked on “60 Minutes” if she believed that Barack Obama was a Muslim this was her reply:

“Well of course not, there is no basis for that. I take him on the basis of what he says, and you know, there isn’t any reason to doubt that.”

That was not exactly a staunch denial that she believes he is a Muslim. She basically said that if he says he is not a Muslim than she will take him at his word. She did not come right out and say that she believes he is not a Muslim. This answer was apperently not good enough so the reporter pressed her on her answer. He asked her again if she believed that Obama was a Muslim, she replied:

“No, no, why would I — there’s nothing to base that on — as far as I know,”

Again she leaves the door open. As far as I know he isn’t a Muslim, but you never know is what she appears to be saying. She refuses to come right out and say no. Just look at that qualifier, “as far as I know”. This answer was worse than he first. She probably doesn’t believe he is a Muslim but she wants to leave that little lingering doubt in the back of the minds of voters.

I find this so amusing I can’t even put it into words. The best part of this whole debate about Barack’s religion is the fact that Democrats are the ones being asked whether they believe Obama or not. Democrats are supposed to be so caring, and supportive of all beliefs and cultures, yet they are the ones being torn apart by this choice. If the Democrats, like Hillary, truly were all-caring they would just come out and say, “who cares what religion Obama is, we need to judge him on the issues”

The Clinton’s are the ones who first played the race card in this election, now Hillary is unclear about whether she feels Obama is a Muslim. Hillary is showing America exactly the kind of person that she is. She is willing to throw a black man under the bus to gain power, she is willing to throw a religion under the bus to gain power. Why doesn’t she just come out and say that there is nothing wrong with Muslims and that it would be okay even if Obama was a Muslim? Why does she hide behind words that hint that Obama could be a Muslim? She hides behind these words because she feels that if she can leave a little doubt in the voter’s minds that maybe Obama is of the same religion as those that attacked us it could translate into votes for her. How sick is that? The fact that she is leaving doubt about Obama’s truthfulness reeks of racism.

As I wrote earlier, I don’t think Hillary believes Obama is a Muslim, but I do believe that she thinks that if she can keep this doubt in the voter’s minds it may turn voters away from him. She is playing on racist and bigoted lines and hoping it will pay off for her.

I just find it funny that she is relying on the bigoted hatred of the left to carry her to victory. The left has made this an election based on race and religion. And they call Republicans racist.

I watched 60 minutes last night and was appalled/amused at Hillary’s response. Your assessment is right on – she wants to leave the door open for doubt. Who says “not that I know of” in a matter they are absolutely certain about? All she had to say was “yes” or “no”. By saying “based on what Obama’s said” she is aiming to make people questions his words. Are they true or not? It’s a clever strategy for someone who thinks she’s speaking to dummies.

IT DOESN’T MATTER WHAT HILLARY BELIEVES OR DOESN’T BELIEVE. WHAT MATTERS IS WHAT THE GUY’S PAST HAS BEEN. HE HAS ATTENDED RADICAL ISLAMIC GATHERINGS, BEEN A MEMBER OF AN ISLAMIC GROUP, BEEN ENDORSED BY AN ISLAMIC IMAN, ALL IN ALL I BELIEVE HE HAS EMBRACED/ASSOCIATED WITH SUFFICIENT ELEMENTS OF THE ISLAMIC CULT THAT HE IS ENTITLED TO BE CALLED AN ISLAMIC CONVERT. IF YOU READ THE QURAN, EVEN A LIBERAL INTERPERTATION OF THE QURAN, YOU CAN FIND THAT ANYTHING IS ALLOWABLE TO A MUSLIM, PRACTICING OR NOT, THAT FURTHERS THE OVERTHROW OF ANY “INFIDEL [USA] SOCIETY/GOVERNMENT”. BASICALLY THAT MEANS AND HISTORY SHOWS THAT THEY CAN MURDER, LIE, STEAL, RAPE, PLUNDER, SUBJEGATE, AND GENERALLY TOSS OUT ANY HUMANATARIAN ASPECTS OF ANY PEOPLES THAT THEY COUQUER.

WITHOUT BELABORING THE ISSUE AND DISCOUNTING ANY ISSUES OF “THE FEAR FACTOR” IS THIS WHAT WE WANT IN THIS COUNTRY???

BELIEVE IT WHEN YOU HEAR THE RADICAL ISLAMIC GROUPS WHEN THEY ADDRESS THE DEATH OF THE GREAT SATAN. THERE IS INTENSE COMITTMENT IN THEIR RANKS TO ACHIEVE THIS.

    John R,

Dude, relax. Take a chill pill. Please use lower case letters.

If you read anything much on this blog, mrpinkeyes is not for any of the 3 options for President. Most, including myself, that visit this blog are not for Obama, Clinton or McCain. So breathe, relax, there are other sane people out there.

This article is about ripping on Clinton. That does not equate into supporting Obama or the Islamic faith. Take a time out.

I might end up writing in The Brain & Pinky. Personally, I hope the ‘other’ category gets 20% of the vote. Maybe Scooby Doo or Mickey Mouse could have a strong showing. Or maybe this country needs a true leader willing to sacrifice all for the betterment of those he leads – Write In Optimus Prime!!

I think maybe, if he did go to the Muslim “gatherings” it was jus to get in good with his peeps. We should be more worried about his policies than his religion. Can’t wait to see tonights results! I have pretty much decided I’m going to write in Ted Nugent.

Thanks for coming to my defense Gary, I have been an equal opportunity basher here as of late. I find it funny that people just read one article that I post and then think that I must be endorsing the other candidate. I hope if people find my blog due to one article that they would dig through my blog to find out where I really stand, that doesn’t seem to be the case though.
Deb, the Nuge is the man! I might write myself in just so that I can say that I received a vote for president.

For the fun of it, I’m starting up the campaigns for The Brain and Optimus Prime.

Optimus gets his day in the sun on Friday. Here is the one for the Brain.

Many Republicans are racist, and it is much more accepted in that party, but what Hillary proves is that she is more Republican than Democrat, much more comfortable with playing the game like Karl Rove than an ethical person. She cares about her power grab and nothing more.

And JohnR, quit getting your information from Rush Limbaugh or whoever you are listening to, everyone knows the Muslim smear is total bullshit, you just look ignorant as hell for believing it. Hell, you make Republicans look bad you are so over the top hateful and ignorant. Even Karl Rove and John McCain have pushed back and said don’t call Obama a Muslim. Get a life, get an education.

I am sick of people calling Republicans racist, it isn’t based in fact.
Have you ever heard of Robert Byrd, Democrat congressman and former grand poobah of the KKK? How can you say Republicans have accepted racism more than Democrats when you have a fromer leader of the KKK in congress?

I would vote for a Muslim candidate, it might keep us from dumping money into our imperialist agendas in the Middle East, which are only fueling the fire against us, and hurting the majority of U.S. citizens. By the way, the only reason people are afraid of Muslims is because we have all been brainwashed by the media, who are owned by a handful of mega-corporations, and who are making a killing (literally) off of our foreign policy, and keeping us misinformed sheep. DO YOU KNOW WHAT THE GREEN ZONE IN IRAQ ACTUALLY IS? Do you know how much money is being made? Look it up!! For a brief intro type in John Cusack Interviews Naomi Klein into google and watch.

I wasn’t implying that if Obama was a Muslim that it would be bad. I understand the freedom of religion. I was trying to show that Hillary Clinton is trying to use the possibility of Obama’s religion against him. She is trying to get the American people to think that he kight be Muslim, playing on their fears for her own political gain.
