The Earth Will Start Cooling in 2008
Global cooling in ’08. It may sound like a campaign slogan, but it could quite possibly be the truth. According to a leading scientist the earth will begin cooling in 2008.
The head of the World Meteorological Organisation said La Nina – the weather phenomenon which is cooling the Pacific – is likely to trigger a small drop in average global temperatures compared with last year.
The prediction – which follows a bitterly cold winter in China and the Arctic – is prompting some sceptics to question the theory of climate change.
Did this article just admit that climate change is only a theory? If it is a theory than that means it isn’t science. How did that get by the editors? So let me see if I have this right. The earth is warming, we are told. Yet China and the Arctic suffered a bitterly cold Winter. Most scientists “forget” to mention the below average cold of these two regions. It doesn’t fit their mold.
Naturally the alarmists say that the recent cooling trend has nothing to do with climate change. They claim that while the earth may cool slightly, that the earth is still too hot.
However, the World Meteorological Organisation insists that this year’s cooling has nothing to do with global climate change.
In fact, this year’s temperatures could still be way above the average – and it is possible that 2008 will exceed the record year of 1998 because of global warming induced by greenhouse gases.
The article even goes on to mention the idea that the sun’s output affects the temperature on the earth. HOLY SHIT? Why didn’t I think of that? Wait a minute, I did. It isn’t too much of a stretch to think that the sun may heat the earth.
Unfortunately most scientists who disagree with the global warming hoax are too afraid that they will lose their federal grant money for their research so they keep their opinions to themselves. The alarmists such as Al Gore and other politicians know there is too much money at stake in the form of taxes so the global warming dissenters are being either bought off, or probably more acurately stated, bribed to shut up with the threat of the loss of federal money. Scientists either shut up or tow the line to protect their “jobs.” Either way, we are screwed.
So the heat will remain on, Americans will be guilted into paying more taxes, Al Gore will continue to get rich, and stories like this one will be ignored.
The American people are going to get fleeced, big time. The government and the people like Al Gore who own carbon offset companies will continue to bleed us dry.
How can anybody actually be falling for this shit? We are supposed to pay a carbon offset tax so that some company can go out and plant trees. WAKE UP! If you want to plant a tree, go plant a fuckin’ tree. You better do it now, and not because the planet will die if you don’t, but because you won’t be able to afford to plant a tree after they get through with you.
I can’t believe that anyone would listen to Al Gore, a man who uses 20 times the energy that the average American uses in one year in his home alone. Some months alone he consumes twice as much energy as the average American does in a full year. Coupled with the fact that he flies everwhere in a private jet while telling us we have to sacrifice.

If you had any reality based rationale in your small far right wing brain, you’d take the time to read up on the grant funding process and realize that, contrary to popular far right wing extremist talking points handed down to you through your propaganda overlords, study sections for grant funding are conducted by other research scientists who score each grant. Grants that received above a certain cutoff score are funded. Grants that do not receive the minimum score are sent back for resubmission. The scientists who conduct the study sections are experts in the fields. But of course, noooooooo, not to the average far right wing extremist. In your delusional world, you imagine back alley deals where politicians debate in a smoke filled room on who gets to be funded and who doesn’t. Sorry, but your delusions don’t mesh with reality…as usual.

Here – see I don’t agree with mrpinkeyes, but we can still have a constructive chat.
Look, we are going to fry or not. You don’t have to believe in Global Warming to do something about it. I am a social scientist – I believe in wonky science. But even if we don’t know all the facts yet – do we really want to take the chance of doing nothing? I’ll play it safe thanks. I can’t speak to Al Gore’s motives, I have to take him at his word that they are pure, but I believe his science is quite shakey. This probably explains his steadfast refusal to to debate.

I don’t understand where all this anger is coming from. Global Climate Change is real. Are some people exaggerating things a little? Probably.
As to the whole oil company fiasco, I have an idea. If you don’t think cars are bad for the environment, sit in your car while it’s running and your garage door is shut.
As to gas prices, stop complaining about them, go to the air pump instead, fill your bicycle tires and ride to work.

global temps. have indeed dropped and all that these stupid politicians are saying is for their benefit and to get their “western” countries to not rely on oil prone countries such as iran or russia. We shouldn’t beleive these political jokes and should look at reality. Global Warming is a myth. Yes, oil is a bad gas but all these greenhouse gases haven’t caused a rise this year but the largest drop on record which takes us to below 1900 temps. That was the greatest change either up or down. Global food shortages have been caused b record cold in most of the world which froze most of the crops. There are 860 million people starving out there because of no food. Why doesn’t the media tell us the truth and thenmaybe we will be able to help them. I can give you a lot more examples of gobal cooling but it would take me my whole life. Thank you.

i live a little south of anchorage, alaska and we are having a really cold summer. spring didn’t seem to start until the end of june. all of the trees and plants are delayed. the birds where teaching their young how to fly around two weeks later than normal. the high bush cranberries leaves are changing colors before they even produce any fruit. the end of season plants like the fire weed are out and going strong. its like 6 weeks of summer just got wrinkled out of time.
as for the mountains they still have a lot of snow on top the higher ones are getting termination dust already. the glaciers didn’t shine blue like they last few years they are still covered in snow and getting more on.
i can tell the bears are having a food shortage, this area is so lush it shouldn’t be like that.
this way of life isn’t working at all. we need to came closer together as communities. grow our own organic food. relay on our own source of energy. have greenhouses on top of apartment buildings that feed the people living right there. shift with the change of consciousness.

Unfortunately, Mr. Pink Eyes, the scientists are right when they say a cooling rend in the Pacific Ocean has nothing to do with a general warming trend in the Earth. It is also unfortunate that you fail to understand the term “theory” in science. When Columbus sailed the ocean blue, the round Earth was still a theory, but so many scientists were confident the theory was correct that they were willing to act on it. Had Columbus waited until the theory of the round Earth were proved absolutely, then he would not have sailed until the 1960s, when astronauts verified it from outer space. If we wait until global warming is absolutely proven, then you will be stewing in your own juice.

Well, I missed a quick response to Doc Lee. The obvious question is, Where did the scientist who decide on the grants get the money for the Grants? Who pays them to decide these things? Do they get more prestige for being the ones who decide?
As to Bill Edwards exposition on theory, there’s a ton of scientist who think the theory of sun spot activity has more to do with the Earth than puny mankind. And, we didn’t need astronauts to go to space to prove the roundness of the earth. There was plenty of astronomical and mathematical science to prove it long before the astronauts saw it.
Is it just me or do all these GW people have exceptionally long or exceptionally angry comments?
