Liberty Group Holds an “Open Carry Litter Pickup” Event to Celebrate New Hampshire’s Gun Laws
A group called the Free State Project is looking to raise awareness of New Hampshire’s gun laws by staging an event that they call open carry litter pickup. It is exactly what it sounds like. This group will be wearing their firearms open carry while they clean the streets. In New Hampshire a permit is needed only to carry a weapon concealed, any resident can carry open.
This event is designed to show New Hampshire’s independent mindedness and liberatarian attitude. An attitude that I think has been slipping away over the last few years.
Here is more about the Free State Project from this article:
Ridley, 41, moved from Texas to New Hampshire in 2004 to participate in the Free State Project. The project announced in 2003 that it aims to recruit 20,000 liberty activists to relocate to New Hampshire and work for limited government and protection of constitutional rights.
Libertarians and liberty activists have long celebrated the New Hampshire Constitution, including Article 2-a, which reads, “All persons have the right to keep and bear arms in defense of themselves, their families, their property and the state.”
We need all of the liberty activists who are working toward limited government as we can get. And fast. New Hampshire’s government programs are expanding, as are the nanny state regulations. We need this group to recruit transplants to the state before it is too late.

From one “41 year old middle class man who was a Democrat until sometime after September 11th. I have a wife and two children” to another, great blog!

Thanks Jim, I will be adding your site as well as Bruce’s to my New England blogroll. I have been thinking that my posts haven’t been reaching too many New Hampshire residents, but maybe, hopefully, I am wrong. It is good to know that we have bloggers out there such as yourself and Bruce to try to get our message out there.
Maybe we can turn the tide here in New Hampshire.
