Hillary Clinton Hints at a Barack Obama Assassination?

May 23, 2008

To tell you the truth I wasn’t even planning to write about this. I thought the whole idea of Hillary Clinton hinting that Barack Obama may be assassinated was absurd. To me it seemed as if the Barack Obama campaign was just looking for any excuse to bash the Clinton campaign, but as I started to think about it, and read more about it I decided that I also had to write about it. Could it be possible that Hillary Clinton was either trying to play to a fear that Barack Obama could be assassinated if he was nominated? Could it be possible that Hillary Clinton was saying that she should stay in the race because you never know, Barack Obama could be assassinated? And if he was, she would be there to pick up the party?

Let’s look at what she said when asked if she was fracturing the party by staying in the race so long:

“my husband didn’t wrap up the nomination in 1992 until he won the California primary somewhere in the middle of June.”

“We all remember Bobby Kennedy was assassinated in June in California,” she continued. “You know i just dont understand it.”

At first I found the comment to be benevolent, but I started thinking that it really was an odd way to answer the question. Why would she bring up the assassination of Robert Kennedy? First of all, during his presidential bid it was Bobby who was accused of fracturing the party by not dropping out. He was being urged to drop for the good of the party. So really, in today’s race Hillary is playing the RobertKennedy character. Despite the historical parallels that are more closely tied to Hillary, what point was Hillary trying to make with such a point that seems irrelevant to the question?

Was she simply trying to use the example of Robert Kennedy’s assassination in June just to illustrate that Bobby was still running in June or was there more to it than that? Was she just siting examples of long running campaigns to justify hers?

After reading her comments, and articles about her comments over and over again, I have come to the conclusion that she was simply referencing historical Democrat primaries to show that they have gone through June before and was not implying that Barack Obama may be assassinated.

BUT, there will always be that twinge of doubt because we are dealing with the Clinton’s here. I wouldn’t put anything past her when it came to regaining the white house. I wouldn’t be at all surprised if this statement was uttered because they knew there was a way out of it. And that could be what the spin we are now hearing is, planned spin from the beginning because they knew how some would take the comment. Maybe they were counting on people taking this comment to hint at a Barack Obama assassination because they knew they could weasel out of it.

I don’t think that is the case, but with the Clinton’s, you never know.

I think greater investigation needs to go into these threats Clinton is making against Obama. I feel very worried that this woman has lost her mind and is trying to incite an attack.

You have an odd view of history, suggesting that it was RFK who was splintering the party.
Nonetheless, your notion that Barack’s camp is seizing on this and making much ado about nothing is astounding.
I don’t care who you are, you just don’t go there. Ever.
    Hillary knows that.

I said that my first impression was that Obama’s camp might be over reacting but that I changed my mind as I thought about it. I don’t think that she meant it the way that it is being taken, but you are right you never ever go there. It was an incredibly stupid thing to say.
As far as Bobby goes, he did anger the party by jumping in the race after the NH primary after saying he wouldn’t run, once it looked like Johnson was vulnerable.

“The circumstances by which you live determine your reputation, but the truth you believe determines your character.”

Rather than expound on what I’ve already written I provided the link:

What One Does Speaks So Loudly . . .?

Years from now when historians look back on Hillary’s campaign, she will likened to a cantankerous and crotchety dinner guest, who you wish had the common sense to leave … 5 minutes before you wish they would have.

Definitely keep your thoughts and posts coming … they serve to keep these issues at the forefront where they can be openly discussed.

Mrs. Clinton, in having THRICE repeated that her unwillingness to bow-out of the race was given that her “My husband did not wrap up the nomination in 1992 until he won the California primary somewhere in the middle of June… We all remember Bobby Kennedy was assassinated in June in California.”, is NOT SUBLIMINALLY WISHING THAT Mr. Obama get assassinated so that she may eventually, and finally, become the President of the United States, — she is, rather, subliminally, planting this idea, so that, one of the so many “nut-racists” who so dutifully have voted for her, do the deed!!!! I HAVE NO DOUBT that this is THE BEST EXPLANATION she, and we all, can hope for, because that of a VEILED THREAT, would indeed make her not just monstrous, but humongously so. How many people around her have shown up dead?!!! Let’s count! The best predictor of future behaviour is the past and current one.

Where’s it written that it’s over? I say get rid of all primaries and caucuses and let the winner of the single day general election popular vote be the president.

I agree, I initially thought it was an innocuous statement. But after reading and re-reading it I came to the conclusion that it is just another calculated scheme from the mind of Hillary.

Nothing the Clinton’s do or say is ever by accident, this leads me to believe that she knew exactly what she was saying.

I just can’t help but be suspicious of her. I know she didn’t plan on really trying to recruit a hitman, (can’t be) but I think this is back-up plan #49. She says well, if I really do lose, I can play the victim by saying…… oh one of at least a hundred things, probably. But wouldn’t it be just delicious if the Clinton machine turned into a Lifetime made-for-TV movie?!?!

The existing nomination process needs to be wrapped up ASAP. There is agreement that…”It is absolutely disgusting that Hillary would try to use the assassination of RFK to advance her already pathetic arguments, likely requiring a response from the Kennedy family, especially in light of what they are already going through.”

Excuses made by Hillary Clinton are absolutely unacceptable!!! Per Time magazine, “Her excuse now is that the Kennedys have been ‘much on my mind these days with the illness of Senator Edward Kennedy”, but that doesn’t explain what brought it to mind more than two months ago. Hillary Clinton said basically the same thing in an interview with Time Magazine on March 6, 2008.

Such a statement reflects extremely poor judgement on the part of Hillary Clinton. Such an individual THAT LACKS GOOD JUDGEMENT… SHOULD NEVER HOLD THE OFFICE OF PRESIDENT, VICE PRESIDENT OR ANY OFFICE OF POWER!!!

Change is Necessary! Expedite the nomination process!

Not to even mention the fact that she was using examples of long primary seasons when she referenced the Kennedy assassination, but didn’t even realize that the NH first in the nation primary wasn’t even held until March, so the primary season was two months younger in June back then than it is this year. What a fool.

A friend was catering a dinner at the National Portrait Gallery when Bill Clinton wandered into the kitchen looking for a sandwich. He started talking to the folks who were there about Obama. He said quite clearly that he was worried about Obama being murdered and the country being thrown into chaos just like it was 1968 all over again. Clearly he is telling anybody who will listen this story. And he is still eating well.
