Unborn Personhood Amendment Reaches Colorado Ballot
According to this article Colorado voters will vote to add an amendment to the state constitution that defines a person as “any human being from the moment of fertilization”. This amendment has become known as the “Definition of a Person” Amendment.
In order to get this to the ballot the group “Colorado for Equal Rights ” had to collect about 100,000 signatures, they collected 130,500.
Perhaps the most heartening aspect of this whole issue is WHO started the ball rolling.
The petition drive — which actually collected 130,050 signatures — originated with 20-year-old Kristi Burton, who said in a news release that she developed a deep passion for the pro-life movement at 13 years of age.
A twenty year old girl began this whole movement. This does make you think that possibly the next generations haven’t fallen as far as it sometimes feels as though they have. Here is a statement that was released by the young lady:
“All humans should be protected by love and by law, and this amendment is a historic effort to ensure equal rights for every person,” Burton noted in her statement.“We at Colorado for Equal Rights are incredibly thankful for our many volunteers who worked so hard for each signature we delivered to the secretary of state’s office and the churches who stood behind us and supported us,” she added. “This victory is the voice of the people, and all credit goes to our Creator.”
This looks to be one of the most interesting aspects to the November election that I have seen so far. I will be watching with great interest to see what the voters day about this. And if passed, what repercussions come from it.

Cool. This legislation could finally be used to justify keeping pregnant women under lock and key, on a prescribed diet and under strict medical supervision till the incubation period is up!
Next up: The revocation of womens’ “personhood” and relegation to chattel.
No surprise why we are DOOMED.

As much as abortion (as birth control) is murder, the repercussions of this amendment takes things a bit too far. For one thing, it would outlaw the legitimate uses (one example, a woman would not be able to abort even if continuing the pregnancy would jeopardized her life).

It’s not about the woman’s body — it’s about the baby’s body.
No person has the right to take the life of another innocent person. This simply establishes that a baby is not “property” like a slave — a baby is a baby. When Scott Peterson murdered his wife and his unborn child, people understood that was a baby, and that he’d killed two victims.
We fought this battle 150 years ago, and we fought this battle 50 years ago, and still we’re fighting this battle to keep from dehumanizing people so they can be killed.

so what about the fertilized egg that doesn’t implant in the endometrium (up to 20%), or the fertilized egg that does implant but fails to progress any further than 6 weeks (up to 25%)? I hope we gang rush every individual that KILLS the person (ie blastocyst) unintentionally just by being a biologically imperfect living being
One more question: so if you’re PRO-LIFE does that mean you are AGAINST the death penalty, AGAINST the war in Iraq and FOR meaningful life for 6 billion people?

You certainly didn’t read my “About Me” page, if you did you would have a better understanding of my positions. Because you couldn’t be bothered to read about me I shan’t answer your questions. If you do decide to come back after you read about my positions I will be happy to debate you. But you will not return.
