Obama Wins the Nomination! Hillary Steals the Show

There are two big stories that came out of today’s final primaries. The first one, and really the only big story, is that Barack Obama appears to have captured the Democrat nomination for president. When the super delegates are counted Barack Obama will be the nominee.
The second story, and it is only a story because Hillary refuses to be outdone even in defeat, is the fact that Hillary is willing to consider the option of becoming the vice president candidate.
Let’s face it, the Clinton’s are media whores. On the day when all the attention should be on Barack Obama for capturing the nomination Hillary had to try to outdo him. And she has. Watching the news today it is apparent that the media considers Hillary’s consideration of the second slot as the bigger story. She has successfully gotten the media attention focused on her on Obama’s day. Typical!
Hillary Clinton didn’t even have the common courtesy or respect for Barack Obama to let him have his moment in the sun before she had to try to outshine him. What other possible reason could she have for no waiting ONE DAY to make her “big announcement?”
Hillary Clinton has effectively put Obama on the defensive now when he chooses his running mate. By publicly acknowledging that she is interested she knows it puts pressure on him to chose her, even if he doesn’t think she is the best choice. He will have to do it “for the party.” He will be convinced that the only way to find true party unity is to select her, and now that she has made her feelings public he will feel even greater pressure to do so.
Hillary Clinton has accomplished two things today. First she virtually guaranteed herself a spot on the ticket to give the media the “dream ticket” they lust for so openly. And secondly, and more importantly to Hillary, she managed to steal Obama’s spotlight and re-direct it on her.
If the Obama/Clinton ticket comes to fruition and wins the presidency, Obama had better hire an official food taster.

Sounds like a tit-for-tat to me because I remember Obama doing something similar when she won West Virginia and Kentucky. My money is on him not selecting her as the VP because of the bad blood between the two and the fact that she does nothing to further the “change and unify” themes of his platform.
