New Hampshire Democrats Prove They Have no Class

June 6, 2008

New Hampshire Democrats have reached a new low. In a fund raising email sent out by New Hampshire state Democrats, the following was written:

House Republicans have had no caucus fund-raisers that we know of. They are struggling to find candidates. They have tragically lost their leader this year and can’t unify as a party. We want the story on June 19 to be, ‘House Democrats flush with cash, Republican scraping bottom.

The line “tragically lost their leader” refers to the death earlier this year of Mike Whalley, the state Republican minority leader. What a shameless act this is, referring to the death of the Republican leader while contrasting it to all of the money flowing into the Democrat party. The inference here is that Democrats are well organized and raising money while the Republicans are leaderless and moneyless. It is a politicization of the death of a man with whom the Democrats disagree and it is despicable and classless. Just look at that last line, “Republicans scraping bottom”, how pathetic is it that the Democrats would remind people that the Republicans have lost their leader and because of this they use the term “scraping bottom” to describe the state Republican party?

But I wouldn’t expect anything else from the New Hampshire Democrats. Bill Shaheen, husband of Jeanne Shaheen (former New Hampshire governor who instituted the statewide property tax and current challenger to John Sununu for United States Senate) was forced earlier this year to resign from Hillary Clinton’s campaign as a top adviser for indicating that Barack Obama may have dealt drugs as a teenager. He made it up out of thin air.

So while using the death of an opponent as a political and fund raising issue doesn’t really surprise me it does sicken me. Let’s face it, state Democrats are glad that Mike Whalley died. Because they no longer have to fight him and because they can use it for fund raising.

New Hampshire Democrats have no class. Governor Lynch, you should be ashamed of your party. Come on big man, step up and denounce this horrific fund raising ploy.

Steve, Imagine, if the shoe were on the other foot, what an outcry there would be! As it is, I’m sure most will never hear of this “horrofic fund raising ploy”.

Lynch will just say he didn’t know anything about it. Deny, deny, deny.

Are you trying to say there is a bias in the media? 🙂
You are damn right there is, if this was Governor Benson and the Republicans it would be splashed all across the papers.
