Gas Prices up 71% Since Democrats Won the 2006 Election
Remember the good old days when gas was just above $2.00 a gallon? I do, it wasn’t that long ago. As a matter of fact it was just before the 2006 election when the Democrats regained control of the house and senate when the gas prices were that low.
Democrats promised what they called a commonsense solution to the rising gas prices and so far it hasn’t worked out so well. Since the Democrats took over the price of gas has risen 71% while the government makes a profit of 18% per barrel of oil compaired to the 4% profit the BIG OIL companies get.
And it is only going to get worse. As if a profit of 18% isn’t enough for Democrats just wait until Obama is president because he is going to tax oil companies even more. The government’s profits will go up under Obama and the oils company’s profits will go down. Well, the oil company’s profits would go down except that the oil companies will pass the taxes on to us and we will be lining the pockets of BIG GOVERNMENT who will reap the rewards of an Obama presidency off of the hard work of the American people.
All that taxing BIG OIL will accomplish is raising the price of oil, we will pay more and the government will make more. If Obama is elected you can count on having less money between this and all of the other programs and taxes he has proposed.
Gas prices are up 71% since Democrats took over and that is only the tip of the iceberg.

There’s an article on my blog about title drill now everyone might want to check out.

Yes, let’s blame the democrats for the increase in gas prices. Looking at historic gas prices, this run up started in 2002. By your logic, I can say that gas prices have gone up 205% (and more if I include 2001) since the republicans took the white house. There was also a spike that started in Mar 2005 which coincidently was the same time the courts ruled that Cheney did not have turn over the documents concerning his meetings with big oil. Can I say that it gives credence to the conspiracy theory that there is collusion?
By the way, if you go back a few of months in 2006, the price of gas was in the$3 range. You are comparing summer 2008 prices to winter 2006 prices. The increase is more like 33% if you compare summer 2008 to summer 2006. HOWEVER, the summer is still young and you might just get up to the 70% since this is Bush and Cheney’s last summer in office. 🙂
Gas prices are not going to go down until a couple things happens. (1) Get the gas guzzlers off the road by raising CAFE and encourage people to drive less aggressively. BTW the last time I checked, Obama has been the only candidate that has come out saying that CAFE needs to be raised. (2) Do a serious investigation the manipulation of the oil and gas markets. With as much influence that big oil has over Washington, this will not happen.

You should see the chart. It shows a gradual uptick from 2001 to 2007.

Then an abnormal doubling in the 17 months from 2007 to may of 2008.
Democrats rtook control January of 2007.
Coincidence?

Thank God the Repyublicans in the Senate blocked that inane windfall profits tax bill. You think things are bad now, at least we aren’t waiting in 4 hour lines to fill up.

“get the gas guzzlers off the road”? You want to be told what kind of car to drive? If BHO does get in, I wouldn’t be surprised if it is Jimmy Carter redux. People! Wake up indeed. Bigger government IS NOT the answer.

Obama has said he has no problem with high gas prices. He just thinks tthey went up to quick for Americans to “get comfortable with”. Whatta crock.
Umm Terrant, the President can only sign laws that Congress passes. If no law hits his desk, nothing can be changed. Brush up on your Consitutional law and seperation of powers before you throw out figures and accusations. The Dems made a promise to keep gas prices low. they have not. They have NO energy policy cred other than blame big oil. And that is populist drivel aimed at the Nutball Enviro-Leftists.

Also it is the beloved Bill Clinton that signed the legislation into law that is blocking the development of our oil reserves we have.
So tag, back on the Democrats. Had Pres Billy not screwed with the development, we would be seeing lower prices at the pump.
As far as Obama is concerned, his capabilities of understanding economics is horrid. Add another thing to the list of reasons not to vote for him.
Ultimate downside, McCain doesn’t get it either.
