Barack Obama Refuses to Release his Birth Certificate
Barack Obama is refusing to release his birth certificate to the public. But why? It makes no sense. Unless he wasn’t actually born on American soil he has nothing to hide. If however, he wasn’t born on American soil than he is ineligible to run for president. Why else would he refuse to release it?
Perhaps he is just taking a stand and saying that this is a non-issue and doesn’t deserve any of his time or effort. Perhaps he is saying it is below him. He is probably right, but by refusing to show his birth certificate he is just creating another distraction, another controversy that he really doesn’t need in his campaign. There are enough distractions and controversies without him creating another one. So what else could there be? I keep coming back to whether or not Obama was born in this country or not. I am left to speculate because Obama refuses to release a document that should hide nothing controversial.
There is probably nothing there, I think, but I will never know for sure because he has created this wall of separation between himself and the public he wants to lead. If there is nothing there than this shows another lack of judgement from the candidate running on his judgement. If there is something there than the public needs to know. Not that it would change the minds of his supporters anyway, they don’t care about the constitution.
It wasn’t that long ago that the mainstream media was abuzz at the idea that John McCain wasn’t eligible to be president because he was born on the Panama Canal and not legally a citizen. It was all over the news, so where is this story? Relegated to blogs. What is good for the goose is good for the gander, and I want the media to take a gander into this issue.
Barack Obama has brought this scrutiny on himself, he can easily stop it. Just show us your birth certificate.

He doesn’t have to release his BC. It’s public record. You can go to Honolulu, Hawaii and get a copy. That’s easy enough.
McCain’s issue wasn’t about him releasing his BC — it was about him not being born ON American soil which was ridiculous because his parents was living on a military base while serving America.

The Hawaiian birth certificate is NOT his LONG FORM birth certificate. The certificate that was shown is a SHORT FORM which is given to all babies born in or OUTSIDE of Hawaii!!! This is NOT the actual birth certificate which has the signature and name of the DELIVERING DOCTOR AND HOSPITAL. The man was schooled and lived in Kenya! He can recite the Koran perfectly in Islamic tongue! You need to check your facts. There are plenty of articles and pictures of Obama in his Islamic garb and at prayer. Also, there was a newpaper report of the “Senator from Kenya” back in 2004 – look for it on the internet. You might also check into the TWO ‘eligibility forms’ signed by Pelosi on the same day. One has the sentence ‘I swear under the Constitution of the United States that Obama is eligible’ and the second form HAS THIS SENTENCE REMOVED!

I just had a new born baby…Lester Naval Hospital requires me to provide a birth certificate (not a copy, not a certification saying I have a birth certificate, but an original or certified copy of the original) before the state department will issue her a US birth certificate. Why can’t my certification of birth be accepted? I would like to think the President is a natural US citizen and born in the US. So I would say to him what his state department said to me…”just provide the original birth certificate and don’t make this difficult”. What is the big deal him to do the same? It would show transparency and refute all those “Birthers“. Oh, and for those of you wondering I requested a certified copy of my original birth certificate yesterday so my government will issue my daughter her US citizenship.

The Constitution says that the POTUS must be a natural-born citizen (not an immigrant who becomes a citizen), must be at least 35 years old, and a residency requirement (I think having lived at least seven of the last fourteen years in the U.S.). There are no such requirements for certain other elected officials (thus you can have a younger Congressman and Schwarzenegger can be governor, etc.). My question is: WHO is responsible for checking this??? Do we throw a president out AFTER the fact??? My kids have to show birth certificates (to be copied and shown upon request) to play T-BALL, but Obama doesn’t have to produce a birth certificate to attain the highest office in the land???

I’ve read several other POSSIBLE reasons he wouldn’t want to release it for what it could show:
Middle name: Muhammed (later changed to Hussein); or
Race: Arabic- it was common in that period to list the race of the father on the certificate.
Religion: Islam (even if he later “practiced” Christianity)
All considered, I keep recalling the movie “Manchurian Candidate”…

Also his secret meeting with prominent Church leaders around the country in the lawyers office this week was interesting. They are “gagged” from talking about comments from the leaders. WHY? If Obama wants us to know his true religious beliefs then WHY has he silenced the leaders that he met with??????? We know that he voted for partial birth abortion and that he is for gay rights. Franklin Graham’s representative Mark DeMoss asked him if he believes: “that Jesus is the way to God or merely A way to God”. He was not allowed to speak on Obamas response to that question.

You would think that as a matter of formality EVERY candidate should have to show a birth certificate when filing papers to run for president. The founding fathers made very few conditions for a person to be eligible to run for president. You would think that proof of your identity would have to al least be shown.

I have been wondering how long it would take a moron to suggest that this was racist. In case you haven’t noticed John McCain is white and he was subjected to the same questioning, so much so that the senate had to vote on whether John McCain was a citizen or not. This is no different. I am not afraid of a black man or woman becoming president, but Obama, yes. Just because I oppose him doesn’t mean I am a racist. I also oppose McCain, so what does that mean?

The problem is Hawaii does not make birth certificates public record. That is why it has become such an issue. Two newpapers have asked him to release it under the Freedom of Information Act, and he is refusing.

The “politifact.com” blog of the St. Petersburg Times (Florida) and Congressional Quarterly publication requested the birth certificate in order to debunk the lie that Sen. Obama’s middle was changed at some point.
Those are the “two newspapers” too which you refer — they actually work as a team coordinating a debunking blog and their researchers try to be as thorough as possible.
Unfortunately, in the process of trying to debunk one lie conservatives were spreading they ended up unintentionally generating the basis for a new smear.
That blog looked up and found Sen. Obama’s marriage certificate, driver’s license record, property records and even his bar association records. They wrote:
“We have now searched every public record we can access and find nothing to support the notion that Obama has a second middle name of “Muhammed” or “Mohammed.” […] We tried to obtain a copy of Obama’s birth certificate, but his campaign would not release it and the state of Hawaii does not make such records public.”
They only wanted to see the birth certificate to be thorough. Again, they went through public records they could access and found his marriage license, property records, driver’s license info and bar association forms.
The Obama campaign likely didn’t release the birth certificate because that blog had already found the other records and the state of Hawaii doesn’t make birth certificates public in the first place. The campaign may not have even had a copy of the piece of paper in order to “release it”.
I doubt anyone in their right mind believed any partisans would really be so over-the-top and asinine as to start inventing all these unfounded, blatantly erroneous rumors about the certificate — many of which are summarized in Mr. Pinke Eyes’ post above and the comments to it, as well as elsewhere among conservative commentary.
Yet, here we are — with your side promoting incorrect information for some reason and regular folks like me pointing out your errors, false assumptions and smears.

Obama’s campaign didn’t “refuse” to release it. It wasn’t a public record. The state of Hawaii doesn’t release birth certificates to the public.
The implication that Obama is “refusing” to release his birth certificate is a fabrication from conservative partisans with apparently nothing better to do than come up with conspiracy theories and worry warts…
The original request came from a researcher attempting to use legal documentation to prove that Obama’s middle name was not “Muhammed” (another fabrication courtesy of conservatives).
That researcher from politifact.com was able to gain public records access to his marriage license, property records, driver’s license info, and his law license info. The only thing she couldn’t access was the birth certificate because Hawaii doesn’t make them public and the campaign ‘would not release it’ as politifact.com wrote.
There could be several reasons why they ‘would not release it’ including the obvious: it’s not public info in the first place.
(Politifact.com is run by the St. Petersburg Times newspaper and Congressional Quarterly periodical — thus the “two newspapers” that requested the birth certificate).
Regardless, the birth certificate has now been released and is now available for public viewing.
It doesn’t say much on it… but it does prove all the conservative worriers wrong.

One the “Muhammed fabrication” was initiated “innocently” enough but like many things on both sides of partisan politics got itself some crazy legs. Point 2 is related to your but it does prove all the conservative worriers wrong. When people are willing to ask questions it isn’t a bad thing. The “worriers” of various Obama stats are what they are much like those inflicted with BDS. Either sides other proponents should however never feel discouraged to seek the truth.

@MPEyes: The Senate didn’t have to vote — that was for show as it was a non-binding resolution. John Sidney McCain III was born to US citizens in US territory. He is a US citizen. Same should be true for anyone born to US citizens on a US military base overseas.
I don’t know if you’ve linked to it in other posts but I’d like to see for my own eyes what you’re referring to regarding the “leftist blogs” that were “buzzing” about it. Most of what I found after doing a Google search actually came from conservatives who didn’t like McCain, such as this Freep post quoting the Constitution’s eligibility clause. If Free Republic is now a “leftist” blog the devil must be eating sno-cones.
That said, nobody (nobody) was implying that McCain was a Manchurian Panamanian candidate secretly sent by Manuel Noriega or some other Latin American dictator … unlike the rumors noted here by your “rightist” political allies which are clearly designed to imply Obama is some sort of Manchurian Muslim, “Arab” or what have you…

I haven’t linked to it in other posts, but I do remember it being all over the internet. And to be honest I was one of the conservatives who thought about posting about it as I am no McCain fan and will not vote for him.
The whole point of this post was to point out that McCain got the same treatment as Obama on this issue. The senate DID vote on McCain’s citizenship so I will disagree with you that no candidate has had to go through the lengths that Obama has to prove he is a citizen.
You will also notice that I never claimed that Obama wasn’t an American citizen other than to point out the fact that he leaves it open to speculation by not showing us his birth certificate.

And no, McCain hasn’t gotten the same treatment. There are no rumors about his religion. There are no rumors about his place of birth. There are no rumors about his father. There are no rumors about his mother.
The only issue with McCain is whether or not he should be considered a citizen. The law of the United States is that a person born to two US citizens, even if abroad, is to be considered a US citizen.

Did the House vote on it? No. Did the President sign some bill into law? No.

Honesty is always the best policy~! If he has nothing to hide, then show the birth certificate and get this whole issue resolved, now! My daughter could not even take her driver’s exam without three different documents, proving her name, age, residency, and citizen status~ How in the world did this man get to be the presidential nominee, and senator before that, without ever releasing his birth certificate to someone!??
This should be a matter of fact, no questions, no hesitation, simply turn over the document, and let the chips fall where they may!
I do not trust Obama, and this just adds more fuel to the fire, as far as I am concerned!~ If he can not be honest with something as simple as providing his date and origin of birth, how can we trust him on the big issues, like making sure American citizens do not lose the rights and security, because of his ties, affiliations, and the people, groups, and terrorists groups to whom he owes his presidency~?

The other salient aspect is that Obama already is ineligible with or without the birth certificate. His mother was only 18 at the time. The requirement for native American birth is that the mother must reside in the USA 10 years, 5 of which must be after the age of 16. So 16 + 5 =21. She was 3 years shy of eligibility and Obama is NOT native born in compliance.
I read a few comments on other forums belittling the importance of the birth certificate and Obama’s suspected failure to register for the draft. Here’s the draft registration requirement.
• Selective Service Registration: Defense Authorization Act established Title 5, U.S. Code, Section 3328
The law says that all men living in the United States who are ages 18 through 25 must register, except those who are in valid non-immigrant status (e.g., students, visitors, and people who have been permitted to come to the US for limited periods of time, etc.). The Selective Service interprets this to mean that undocumented men must register. Failing to register is a federal crime, with a penalty of up to five years in prison or a $250,000 fine or both.

To begin with, it matters NOT wether one parent is an American citizen and the other is not- the reality is–a person running for the presidency must have been born on American SOIL-the PaNAMA CANAL ZONE iS AMERICAN SOIL–as well asis Hawaii–so why should there be ANY resistance,whatsoever, to producing a live birth certificate from that state,unless there is something to hide!! In the meantime, it is not up to any American citizen to obtain Obamas’ birth certificate-it is DEFINITELY up to the candidate to do so. And, it is not an insignificant issue as some fools would have us believe- it is EXTREMELY IMPORTANT!!!!!

Well, anyway, the Gov’t MOST LIKELY has looked into his BC and was fine with it, so I think u guys who are bloodthirsty for the BC should chillax, and go cut yourself. in 1961 the laws were different and if obama was born in afirca he was NOT a natural citizen it wasnt until the 80s i think that the laws changed.
So they have to go back to the laws at the time of his birth and let me tell you folks, if he was born in kenya which he probably was seeing that all of his registrations are for the 8th and not the 4th that he was born then he isnt elligable. Now will they disqualify this douche bag, no probably not mccain isnt any better though but meh who cares anymore.

I will never have perfect grammar, but as I asked in my “About Me” page–if you had bothered to read it–I hoped to be judged on what I wrote and not how I wrote it. First of all a Birth Certificate is NOT public record. The only people that have the “right” to obtain any form of your BC are yourself and your family members if in fact you are a minor. People are really lame. I had to show my BC to the people who needed when I joined the military. But I never had to show the public shit. The president deserves the same privacy as all of you. Most of you wanna be critics need a hobby. Didn’t your parents teach you to do something constructive with your time instead of making up conspiracy theories?
