Barack Obama Forgoes Public Funding to Combat 527’s

Barack Obama became the first president since Watergate to forgo public financing, flip-flopping from his original stance. His excuse? He needs to raise much more money to combat the 527 groups that are preparing to “attack” him.
“We’ve already seen that (McCain’s) not going to stop the smears and attacks from his allies running so-called 527 groups, who will spend millions and millions of dollars in unlimited donations,”
That was his justification. It’s the Republicans fault.
Last Thursday, Obama said he was foregoing the $85 million in public funding he could have received because it tied his hands — and because the campaign finance system was allegedly slanted toward his expected Republican challenger, Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.).Accusing McCain of being “fueled by contributions from Washington lobbyists and special interest PACs,” Obama said that 527s tied to McCain and the Republican National Committee are “spending millions and millions in unlimited donations” to attack him.
Well there is just one small problem with this theory. Democrat 527’s have raised $87 million while Republican 527’s have raised only $24 million. Edge Obama in the smears and attacks category.
It will be interesting to see if Obama has the same convictions when MoveOn and People For The American Way start to run their attack ads on John McCain.
Obama already has out raised McCain by a total of $265 million to $88 million. I don’t think money is an issue for Obama.
What I do find laughable about this is how John McCain is now being kicked in the balls by his own unconstitutional campaign finance reform law. His blatant attack on the first amendment has come back to bite him, and I can’t think of anyone more deserving.
Has anyone noticed that ever since John McCain took the money out of campaigning that there is more money than ever in it?

Yep, McCain opted into public financing, then opted out, then back in. Obama is the first democrat in a long time to have the backbone to stand up to the republicans. Now it’s the republicans who are whining. 🙂

Barack Obama, is nothing more than a lying joke at this point, And I am sorry his Racist wife is fair game, No one getting it,, he going to ruin this country, why do you think Obama created the Obama SEAL , Didn’t Hitler have a Seal, did Stalin have a seal, did Napoleon have a Seal,, all bad people or dictatorships have seals,,
