Anti-Tax Groups Gaining Momentum in New Hampshire?

July 22, 2008

There have been a couple of anti-tax groups that have begun to flex their muscles here in New Hampshire. The one I am writing about today is called the New Hampshire Advantage Coalition and they have been very active in trying to get tax cap legislation on the ballot in several locations this November.

Their effort may be paying off as they have succeedded in getting enough signatures to get this issue to a vote in Rochester. But they are not done, they also are trying to gain enough signatures to force a vote on this legislation, which ties tax increases to the rate of inflation, in Concord, Merrimack, Somersworth, Londonderry, Portsmouth and Bedford, and Manchester.

According to this article the group believes that New Hampshire residents are ready to return to the old days of fiscal responsibility. I think (hope) that they are right. New Hampshire has become a spend first, pay for later state, and that has been illustrated by our tax and spend governor recently as he took out a loan to “balance”  the budget. It is time to return New Hampshire to her fiscally conservative roots. But this legislation is only the beginning, we need to rid ourselves of tax and spend liberals in the government as well. This naturally starts with the highest level of the state’s leadership, Governor John Lynch.

This tax legislation may be a great starting point, but coupled with a Joe Kenney victory over John Lynch in November and we would be back on the path to fiscal responsibility.

Governor Lynch has been unable to control his lust for spending since day one, in just four short years he has taken a state with a budget surplus and bankrupted it. It is time to kick his ass to the curb. It is time to usher in the new age of fiscal responsibility.

You can read more about the tax cap on http://www.rochestertaxpayers.org which is run by the people who actually collected the signatures.

Also if you want a real conservative in Congress, better to support John Stephen. He really gets the UNESCO thing.

Jeb voted for UNESCO and they are who are ruining our local schools with their interference thanks to the Federal DOE.

Judging from your ban the UN sign, I think you’d want to know about that. You should go to a John Stephen meet and greet sometime — you would like what he has to say.

Thanks for the info, I will look more closely at John Stephen. Either of these two men will be better than what we have right now.

Yes, I’ve been mandated to contribute $25, which I had to pay to LCHIP today when I went to file a release of a mortgage at the registrars office, for my mom, who is 80 years old. I was surprised I had to make the donation and quite frankly, extremely angry that I had to make this adjustment in my food budget, as my son and I live month to month and I am on SSDI. How did this mandated contribution I had to make, sneak in?

Don’t the LCHIP supporters make enough money to make their own contribution?

Must all NH citizens be mandated to donate to LCHIP to restore barns, museums when, I dare say, we are struggling to get health coverage not only for children, but the parents as well?

Must all NH citizens be forced to donate to LCHIP when so many are just at poverty level or homeless?

This mandated donation would be better spent to ensure there is no homelessness or hungry people even though they don’t qualify for food stamps or AID to Needy families?
