President-Elect Obama

November 4, 2008

obamafinger The American people went to the polls today and the voices of the American people were heard. Loud and clear. This was not just a victory for Barack Obama and the Democrats, this was a mandate.

Truth be told the results tonight are not surprising, only those holding out unrealistic hopes still believed that Barack Obama would not be elected as the next president of the United States. Because the results were so predictable I had plenty of time to brace myself for this, I accepted the results long ago.

John McCain was a horrible candidate from the beginning. I apologize for the whole state of New Hampshire to all conservatives out there because if it was not for my state John McCain would never have been the nominee in the first place. The man that stopped President Bush from appointing conservative judges, and the man that supported giving amnesty to illegal aliens should never have been the Republican nominee in the first place.

Because I readied myself for the impending left hand turn the country was ready to take, I began to look at small victories in a tough year for Republicans. These goals were the election of Jeb Bradley in New Hampshire, the re-election of John Sununu in New Hampshire, and stopping the Democrats from achieving a 60 vote super majority.

For the most part those victories alluded me also, Jeb Bradley lost as did Sununu. The only victory that can be claimed by Republicans is the fact that they held off the senate 60 vote super majority.

The American people have rejected Republicans all across the country, the country has turned not just left but hard left, and as the country moves in this direction it is time to look at the reasons why.

The reason is obvious and can be summed up simply; George W Bush. George W Bush ran as a “compassionate conservative” in 2000, but what conservative agenda has he pursued and won? Nothing. George Bush grew the government and spent more money than any previous Democrat president. George W Bush put Republicans behind the eight ball, he has single-handedly set the Republican party back at least twenty years.

I have defended this man for almost two years on this blog through thick and thin, I ignored the fact that he never saw a spending bill that he didn’t like. I started to turn on him during the illegal alien amnesty bill. His claim that there are jobs that Americans won’t do is insulting. Americans will do whatever it takes to take care of their families. I came back to him, where else could I go?

But then President Bush socialized the economy, the mortgage industry, and the banks. That is when he lost me for good, he started America down the path to socialism that Barack Obama will continue and for that I will never forgive him.

The end result of George W Bush’s presidency is Barack Obama’s presidency. The results will be devastating.

Where do conservatives go from here? I have no idea. We must regroup and refocus, we must get back to true conservative ideals, something that George W Bush forgot somewhere along the line. It is going to be a long uphill battle, but it is a battle that must be fought.

It is up to the people to rebuild the party that George W Bush destroyed.

Tonight is Barack Obama’s night, but tomorrow the fight resumes. And I pledge to treat President Obama with the same respect that the left has treated President Bush.

The last sentence of your post is priceless. You know what I find ironic? People in my neighborhood started shooting off their guns the minute the news said Obama hit 270. Too bad Barack will be coming for those very guns they are firing. What morons.

“I pledge to treat President Obama with the same respect that the left has treated President Bush.”

Does that mean you’re going to be petty and small and whine for the next four years? At least with them, it was a perceived wrong (SCOTUS gave it to him and there was something not quite right in Ohio).

For the republicans, all of their losses were of their doing for the reasons that you have pointed out. Obama carried Indiana and that was the only real democrat victory here. That is an indication of the kind of damage that Bush and the republicans have done to the republican brand.

It was a little joke during my time of sorrow. I can’t argue with anything you just said, this was brought on by Republicans that didn’t do what they were elected to do.
I may be a little petty here and there though. 🙂

Conservatives don’t whine, but it is time for us to take a bold stand, with God’s help, on the social issues of the day. We must take our stand now, or we will no long have that opportunity. I certainly hope that America’s Watchtower will stand against the legal slaughter of 4,000 babies every day , the decimination of the American family and continue to be a friend of Israel. God will bless those who bless Israel and curse those who curse Israel.

I have promised not to whine, cry, or be emotional during Obama’s presidency. I thought it in terrible bad taste by those that scourged our friendships during the last eight years. I do think, though, that our first step is to keep an eye on our Constitution. Obama has already begun assaulting the 1st Amendment and he really hates the 2nd Amendment. His potential for destroying the Supreme Court and thus bypassing the third branch of our government and its checks and balances is of tremendous importance to the future of Democracy as we know it. I ask all veterans and active-duty personnel to remember the oath they took, i.e., to “defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic.” We can defend it through voting, letters to our representatives, and by working for its preservation in local and national groups.

As to the rebuilding of the American Conservative ideals, it is absolutely necessary to get back to free-enterprise and smaller government.

I wasn’t sure. Sometimes I have a hard time telling when you’re being sarcastic. When I read that I envisioned a conservative version of some of the vitriol that I seen that came from the liberals when Bush won in 04.

I have found that sarcasm doesn’t seem to translate into the written word, but I keep trying anyway.

Mooks, have no fear, America’s Watchtower will continue to fight the fight. I have to admit though that I briefly thought about calling it quits last night, but it is not in my nature to quit.
Rocky II was on AMC tonight and naturally I had to watch it. The great quote from that movie is ” what’s can’t? There ain’t no can’t”
How can someone stop fighting when they hear such words of wisdom. 🙂
