Immigration Groups Plan to Make a Push for Amnesty for Illegals

November 12, 2008

The issue of illegal immigration and amnesty for illegals is a subject that disappeared during the campaign. Both John McCain and President-elect Obama share the same position on this issue so it wasn’t mentioned on the campaign trail. But now the issue is back and so it must be dealt with.

President Bush was also for granting amnesty to illegals but he was stopped by the Republicans in the House. The only true conservatives appear to be the conservatives in the house. And there are even less of them after last week’s election. The American people were against the idea of granting amnesty to illegals and they wrote letters and placed phone calls to their representatives and their voices were heard. Loud and clear.

Let’s not be naive, these politicians were worried about re-election but now they don’t have to worry about that for two years so if immigration “reform” is going to happen it will happen quickly so the American people will have time to forget before going back to the polls. Americans have short memories and they will forget about amnesty in two years if Washington is able to get this passed quick enough.

Now that the election is over immigration groups are now lining up to demand amnesty for illegal aliens.

Immigrant groups are calling on the incoming Obama administration to push for “just and humane immigration reform” and “a pathway to legalization”—amnesty and citizenship for illegal immigrants.

The National Capital Immigrant Coalition (NCIC) and the Fair Immigration Reform Movement (FIRM) held a press conference Tuesday at the National Press Club to announce a “mass mobilization” by illegal immigrants that is scheduled to take place in Washington, D.C., on Jan.  21—one day after the president-elect is sworn into office

The truth is that it doesn’t even matter which candidate won the election, this was going to be revisited and probable passed no matter who won the presidency. What is a shame is that Republican voters had a short memory when they went into the booths during the primary and pulled the lever for the amnesty granting senator from Arizona. This is just one reason why John McCain was such a terrible nominee. He holds the same position as Obama on immigration.

The American people are going to have to rise up once again. We are going to have to write letters, send emails, and make phone calls to our senators, our representatives, and our president. We can not let this country be sold down the river to people who broke the law to get here.

These immigrant groups claim that they want a fair and honest path to citizenship but this country already has the procedure that they seek. The only problem is that these illegal immigrants don’t want to follow the proper procedure. Much like the younger generation in general, these people want something for nothing.

 We can’t let this happen.

Yes, let’s make lots of noise. I don’t know what you thinking, but I have problems giving amnesty to those breaking the law. However, I do think that they need to do some type of reform. I work a number of legals and the hoops they have to jump through is incredible.

The Bust Admin Bailouts for these scumbag bankers! They took our money to bail these morons! Do you think these banks blinked twice when we were late on making payments on the credit cards or when some of us were late in making the mortgage payments? NO!

While we are busy trying to bail out these Banks and Auto Manufacturers are we printing the billions of $$ to pay?

There are 30+ million workers in this country who are here without papers. Some pay taxes but many don’t because they are paid off the books. If we brought them out from the shadows, and made them part of the country where they have already been working for a number of years, and contributing to the economic cycle by purchasing goods and services themselves, we could see some fiscal revenue come into the coffers.

I think this congress will successfully tackle the dilapidated immigration system and make it work for a change! Take away the incentive for illegally crossing over and on the other hand provide avenues to workers to come in and work legally. Take away all the bureaucratic hurdles and install sensible and pragmatic policies which unites families and allows immigrants temporary and permanent to arrive legally!

CIR fell victim to GOP (Republican) Right-wing scare tactics. The country has done away with most of these GOP know nothings from both houses of congress and we have a President elect who has been very clear about this very important Security and Labor Issue!

All said I think this issue will be tackled swiftly and overwhelmingly.

PS: There will be some saber rattling by remaining GOP Right-wing nuts. But they forget who has the Majority in both houses of congress and the President elect. — who cares about these few… obviously they are not the MAJORITY!

Terrant, my only plan is to oppose it by writing here as ofter as I need to, as well as writing emails to my senators and reps. I don’t know what else we could do.
Maybe you are right about the laws being too tough, but the laws should be pretty tough to seperate those that really want to become citizens from those that just want scam the system. If someone really wants to become a citizen they should be willing to go through some hoops.

How about a pathway right back through the fence, and lets try that again, the right way.

“How about a pathway right back through the fence, and lets try that again, the right way.”

There is no right way now. The system is broke ass broken! Do you think the US Visa officers will grant visas to poor workers who cant even spell their name in ‘Ingles” ? Do you think the visa officers will be passionate to their situation where they are working to feed their families?

Deb, its easier said than done? You need to shut up and sit in the corner for a while before you open your ridiculous trap. You don’t seem to learn what is happening to your party do you? U keep listening to your lousy right wing free loaders and get excited.

Remember who is the Majority! Not you anti-immigrant zealots!

I realize the system is not perfect. But there is a system and there is a right way, common sense. Just b/c the government is the government does not mean people should take advantage. Oh, and one more thing, S-A-R-C-A-S-M. Sound it out.

Lobotomy was not perfect. Doesn’t mean we cant use it. If we start traversing with your logic….
