NYT Claims That the Economy Will Force Obama to Break Campaign Promises

January 11, 2009

obamafinger1 Barack Obama hasn’t even been sworn in yet and already his allies in the media are making excuses for what they believe will be his failure to follow through on most of his campaign promises.

They are already lowering expectations for Obama by claiming that the economy will prevent Obama from implementing many of his promises. In other words, it’s Bush’s fault that Obama bit off more than he could chew.

A convenient excuse from somebody who promised everything to everybody even if it conflicted with promises that he made to other bodies.

A lot of the things he said on the campaign trail you can now dispense with,” said correspondent Peter Baker. “For the moment he has to focus on the economy

President-elect Obama cares so much about the economy that he is going to be forced to reneg on many of his campaign promises, at least that is the gist of the article linked to above.

I just have one question though. What ever happened to multitasking? During the campaign when the economy started going bad John McCain suspended his campaign to fly back to Washington and focus on the bailout bill. He challenged Obama to do the same. Barack Obama at first refused to do so because he claimed that the president would have to be able to multitask, he claimed that the president would have to be able to deal with more than one issue at a time. So what happened to multitasking?

Suddenly the economy is such an issue that even Obama the Great will not be able to focus on more than one issue. Suddenly the anointed one will not be able to multitask and not only will his allies in the media not call him on this, they use it as an excuse for him.

It must be nice to have the media in your back pocket.

Lowered expectations, isn’t that wonderful? Just what we need in a Presindency. So when W did this kind of thing he was evil and stupid, but for BO that just the way the cookie crumbles? Typical of the drive-by’s.

You know……Happy birthday by the way lest I forget…..You know I’ve said it all along that there was no way he could achive all that he promised. He has reminded me of a used car salesman and a gypsy one at that! sleezy politic’s! That’s a democrat for you. Shoot what broke the economy was obama’s rapid spending of all those millions of dollars. He caused a wind storm that hasn’t let up yet in my neck of the woods! All the zombie Dems are still wandering around with glassy eyes thinking of all the freebies he has promised them. I had the opportunity to talk to a young Native American who is going to sit and wait for her check that he promised her to pay for her college education that she didn’t have to pay back. Idoits the whole bunch of them, thats my rant for tonigjt. Love the blog, well put together!

Thanks Pam, there is no way in hell that Obama can deliver on everything he promised. The example that you gave is a good one.
Did you ever see the video that was on the net before the election with the woman who said that if Obama was elected she wwouldn’t have to buy gas any more? There is this sense of entitlement out there. Whatever happened to good hard honest labor to earn what you can buy?
