Hillary Clinton’s Nomination May Be Held Up in the Senate

January 20, 2009

It seems that at least one Republican senator has a problem with Hillary Clinton becoming the Secretary of State while her husband is collecting millions of dollars in foreign money for his foundation.

Finally somebody sees a conflict of interest here. Hillary Clinton gallivanting across the globe talking to foreign leaders while her husband is raking in money from some of these same countries doesn’t seem to worry anybody. But there is a conflict of interest here.

Sen. John Cornyn does have a problem with this scenario and while in the end Hillary Clinton will be confirmed at least this will slow down the process so that the senators can make sure that there is nothing improper going on. A deeper look must be taken at this. There is a reason why so many of Obama’s nominees are on the fast track. It’s time to slow down the precess and make sure everything is proper.

Bill Clinton should at least show where this money is coming from and how it is being used, if not actually refusing foreign money while Hillary is Secretary of State.

That is what John Cornyn is concerned about.

Like many others, I remain deeply troubled that America’s foreign policy and your diplomatic mission will be encumbered by the sweeping global activities of the Clinton Foundation unless tighter foreign fundraising restrictions and transparency protocols are adopted

Considering that this was supposed to be an open and honest administration I think we should start with transparency right at the top.

This is what I find absolutely amazing about republicans. No internal consistency check what so ever. This is a conflict of interest, but Cheney being VP and supporting war while being invested in defense contractors was not. And this is just one example.

Now that’s amazing–just when I thought that Republicans were keeping their mouth shut, in order NOT to upset the Media or the Media Darling, one emerges.

    Again People,
You are missing the point. Are you being obtuse or re you just blinded by you own magnificence?
Pointing out the corruption of liberal Democrats or anyone else does not condone or serve to justify the corruption in one’s own party. If you have followed this blog or listened to ANY true conservative, you would know the we have repeatedly criticized exactly what you are pointing out. If you check the history of this very blog, you will see that Mr. Pinkeyes himself has criticized Mr. Cheney for such things.

    Joe Hunley,
Thank you for the sarcasm. It is sarcasm, right?
As I think you are indicating, the problem has been for too long that the conservative base has been too quite and allowed the more outspoken minority liberals completely screw up this country.

That’s our guy, Sen. John Cornyn (R) Tx.
The real issue here is that it’s just a bad idea to have Hillary Clinton in such a position of power. A really bad idea.

You Neo-Con’s just can’t take being finally told, loudly and clearly, that your approach to government is wrong, immoral and in many cases illegal! The theft of the American Dream, the theft of the wealth of America, and of much of the world, the impossition of economic slavery through the restrictions on personal (but NOT corporate!) bankruptcy and your lockstep ideals in education, media as well as the assault on our Constitutional Rights all should have led to the impeachment of both Bush and Cheney. You have had your chance- since Reagan- and you have FAILED! Now shut up and let the real true Ameicans get our country back on track- morally, ethically, economically and intellectually.

What a laugh to hear (Read) a Liberal Obamatard spout about “morally, ethically, economically and intellectually”, not to mention what a crock.
It is the liberal Democrats and their complete lack of moral, ethical, economically sound and “intellectual” undermining of the American dream that I and my compatriots have risked our lives to secure that has gotten us into this mess.
If it weren’t for us you’d all be slaves to an Islamic or Nazi Nation. As it is it seems that we will all have to become slaves of a Socialist Nation before we wake up and take back this country.
The only good thing is that it will serve as a wake up call to those of us who actually care about this great nation.

Peeple and phoptbug, Bush and Cheney are gone. let it go. It is time to look to the future as I am doing. It’s time to move on.

Whiteamericanpatriot, thanks for coming to my rescue, I have been pretty hard on Bush lately but either these people missed it or chose not to read it. As you said, I am not condoning Republican corruption when I write about Democrat corruption but there is the mainstream media doing enough reporting on the Republicans and they simply pass on the Democrats and their corruption. Someone has to write about it and that is where the blogs come in.
Cpl. Booth, I hope you are right and this will be a wake up call. But according to the left you are only fear mongering when you write about fighting against the Islamic extremists and Nazis. That has got to be so frustrating to someone who has actually fought for what they believe in. If I haven’t said it before, thank you for your service.

Cpl. Booth, I was an E-5 when I got out of Vietnam. I have a son serving in Afghanistan right now that also served a 15 month tour in Baghdad, another one who werved in Germany for 3 years and a son in law that was Airborne in both Afghanistan (invasion force) and 2 tours in Iraq (1-invasion there as well). Using Muslim extremists as a reason to object to Sen. Clinton’s confirmation as Secretary of State is a Red Herring tactic. If you had bothered to watch her hearings, you would have found out that the contributions to Pres. Clinton’s charities from foreign governments are for specific programs in developing countries and that he has no financial state in the operations of these charities. Neither of the Clinton’s receive a penny for that work. They do it to make the world a better place. The monies that these charities receive from the foreign governments, and all other contributors, is passed through to the projects. Hunger, illiteracy and dispair are the breeding grounds for extremism. It is only by bringing the rest of the world up to a standard of living above poverty, with democracy and hope for the future, that we will ever eliminate extremism.
