Obama’s Inauguration Proves Racism in America Still Exists

January 21, 2009

I have written here several times in the past that I believed that America had gotten past the race issue. I have stated that Americans don’t judge people by the color of their skin any more, but I am now prepared to say that I was wrong. Racism is alive in America. And it reared it’s ugly head during Barack Obama’s inauguration.

Here is the video of the ugly incident:

We had to listen to a person hope that someday white Americans will embrace what is right. This man stood there as a black man was being sworn in as president of the United States of America and made it sound like today’s America is the America that southern Democrats during the Civil War and civil rights movement hoped it would become. But it didn’t, America rose above the racial hatred culminating in yesterday’s inauguration. Yet this reverend thinks that no progress has been made.

America has come a long way since those dark days and people like this minister, Reverend Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton want to treat America as if no progress was ever made, even as Barack Obama is sworn in.

America will never get past race as long as we have people like these who are influencing young Americans and filling their hearts with hate. I understand teaching children about the history of this country, including slavery and the civil rights movement but please don’t stand there and pretend that nothing has changed.

I have to agree to disagree with you on this one. I watched the video and I didn’t see this is a slam at all, just some old guy trying to rhyme and be cute. I think we may be over-reaching on this one.

When I heard it, I thought that if it was a white guy being cute like that and ended with a slam against Blacks, Latinos, or some other protected group, there would be no end to the uproar.

While racism still exists, people tend to forget is that it is also a two-way street.

Its hard for people who still have dog bite scars.

(Take a look at the younger generation, thats where the change springs from.)

The inability to, or just simply the reluctance of people to move on is what’s helping to perpetuate the race issue. Combine that with the Dem’s desire to divide and conquer, and it’s not at all surprising to see this sort of thing. Sadly we will continue to see this as long as there is a major political party out there who refuses to see man as a group of individuals and instead insists on seeing everybody as groups that are different than one another.

Racism is everywhere. If you thought we were past that, you obviously weren’t really thinking now were you? I thought bringing race up in such a way on inauguration day was a bit out of line with the event but not enough to even be mentioned in the media. Seems the only ones jumping up and down and pointing to it are the racists. Oh but they say they aren’t. hehe.

the real racism came from Roberts who tried to trip up the oath by swapping the order of words in the oath, that’s blind and hidden hate but so very simple… now everyone thinks that obama couldn’t remember what to say (even though he’s been practising for a month!)

    that’s very sad.

When I say that America has moved past race I am not saying that it doesn’t exist, I am saying that as a whole Americans judge people by their actions. Is there still racism? Of course there is, but Ryan said exactly what my point is. As long as we have people who prtend that no progress has been made we will never put it totally in the past.
Nobody, that was part of my point also, the change won;t come from the young people as long as they are tought that minorities don’t have a chance in America, it is a lie and it is hateful.

None, Chief Justice Roberts was just getting back at Obama for voting against him. 🙂

Sounds like Patrick needs a wake-up call. I just don’t see where the hell he’s getting this garbage.

The people who are bringing this up and getting mad about it are the people who are trying to move past the racial era and keep getting dragged backwards by people like Patrick who insist that racism is still a major issue.

Perhaps we need to do more than elect a black man president? I mean, what else can be done to prove that we’ve moved on and are no longer a societ steeped in racism?

None – your comment is just stupid and ignorant. How the heck do you know Roberts intentions or the motivation of his heart? Give me a break. THAT IS a real reach!

I don’t think that racism will never exist. In some form or fashion, you will always have someone who chooses not to like someone else because they have some characteristic they think is bad, wrong, or whatever.

I think Mr. Pink Eyes makes a valid point. When we jump on the bandwagon, we only perpetuate racism. What I find so amazing is that the left is using it in a round about way to further their ideology because without it, they can’t play victim anymore. I don’t think they know how to engage unless they are in the victim mode. They have been there too long!

I do embrace what is “right”. Worse that this is the rap song sung by Jay-Z in a club the same night. It is unfortunate to see this, as I also heard some over the top white liberal guilt from the convicted felon, Tom Finneran on the radio Wed morning. It should be a non issue. I could care less what color the President is, I just don’t want him to tax me to death.

I would highly recommend everyone reading The Black Sphere. Here is a conservative black man telling the truth. I have to say, I might just have been wrong about the intention of the reverend and say that Mr. Pink Eyes is right yet again.

Here is the url for Kevin’s blog.

Deb, I almost included the slick one in my post because it is so condesending the way he sits there and looks all somber and reflective while we all know what a scumbag he really is. It is such an act.
