Timothy Geithner Apologizes For Not Paying His Taxes

January 22, 2009

Well, isn’t this nice? Timothy Geithner has apologized for his honest mistake of not realizing he was supposed to pay taxes for money he received from his employer even though he applied reimbursement for those same taxes.

These were careless mistakes, they were avoidable mistakes, but they were unintentional,” Geithner said. “I should have been more careful. I take full responsibility for them.

This man is lying his ass off, there is no way in hell that this was a mistake. HE WAS REIMBURSED FOR THE MONEY HE DIDN’T PAY, and he signed a form every quarter acknowledging that he had to pay.

Once he found out that he owed taxes he decided to …..pay half of them back. It wasn’t until he found out that he was going to be Secretary of the Treasury that he decided to pay back the rest of them.

Congress is going to say that the bad economy trumps Geithner’s honest mistakeand that he must be confirmed without delay so that he can save the country from financial collapse. Most men would go to jail, this man gets a cabinet post in President Obama’s administration.

By confirming Geithner as Treasury Secretary they will be putting a known tax cheat in charge of the IRS while another known tax cheat, Barney Frank, writes the tax laws. What’s the worse that could happen there?

I recently had a crazy idea about this… write your congress critter. From what I can see, it is Obama and congress that is pushing it. I don’t think the liberals are too keen on this guy either.

What a sport. Anyone can “say” they are sorry. It doesn’t always mean something. Except the vain hope that all will be forgiven.

Mr. Pink Eyes – I can prove this was NOT a mistake.

Here is the exact wording that was on the form when he was re-imbursed. (from Michelle Malkin’s blog)

“At the end of the tax allowance form were the words, “I hereby certify that all the information contained herein is true to the best of my knowledge and belief and that I will pay the taxes for which I have received tax allowance payments from the Fund.” Geithner signed the form. He accepted the allowance payment. He didn’t pay the tax. For several years in a row.”

Now explain to me how you forget when you sign this year in and year out?

    Hello! Can anyone say deception!

This was not a mistake, it was tax evasion.

Once again, one has to question the judgement of anyone who would vouch for a tax cheat. It certainly doesn’t instill confidence either in his ability to perform any kind of monetray job nor in those who would appoint him to that kind of position. Another rookie mistake by the rookie prez.

Considering that Obama was running on his judgement because he claims that he was never for the Iraq war, his bad judgement in his first week as president has been the story so far.

Governor Huckabee said something on his show about this subject that really puts this into perspective. By President Obama and the Senate putting this guy through, someone who cheats on his taxes and then gets this job with this huge salary that YOU and I are going to PAY for. How’s that for ridiculous!
