Republican Senators Vow to Oppose Obama’s Stimulus Bill

January 30, 2009

unclesamRepublican senators, after having watched house Republicans show a united front, are vowing to oppose President Obama’s welfare stimulus bill as it is currently constituted.

Lets just hope that there is enough Republican opposition to send the bill back for further negotiations. I hope there is enough sentiment like the following from senate Republicans:

Ladies and gentlemen, a trillion dollars is a terrible thing to waste,” he said. “Let’s be careful we’re not making the situation worse in an attempt to make it better

Republicans realize that the American people are just now beginning to realize what type of pork is in this bill.

But Republican Senator Jeff Sessions said the US public was only just realizing the enormity of the stimulus bill.

“I don’t think the American people like this. I think after the ground shifts with public opinion, hopefully we’ll be able to make some changes,” he said.

People are beginning to ask questions about this stimulus bill and Republicans realize that if they hold off long enough the opposition to this bill will grow. It has to, this bill is a disastrous pork barrel welfare bill with very little money actually going to projects that would stimulate the economy.

President Obama and the Democrats have tried to rush this bill through congress and it isn’t because the economy is so bad that they need to pass the bill right away. They were fast tracking this bill to sneak it by the American people before they realized what hit them. It didn’t work with immigration reform and we must make sure it doesn’t work now.

People are beginning to look deeper into the cunningly named stimulus bill and the groundswell of opposition is growing. The task at hand for senate Republicans is large, the opposition in this case has to be almost 100%. Obama only needs the votes of two Republicans.

The people are starting to wake up and oppose this bill, the senate is realizing it and I hope that they will take a stand and stop this legislation.

 Are you listening John McCain?

Well, it is about time! That’s about the best news that I have heard in a while. I sincerely hope that it is not too little too late.
    I can’t believe the politicians didn’t learn their lesson the last time. Last year when the Bush administration implemented a stimulus plan, one that actually helped out me and many struggling middle class families even though it was laden with corruption designed to shovel pork to the favorites of that administration, The Liberal Socialist Dimocrats (sic) had the following to say;
Congress is about to sell us the biggest fraud in American history….It’s been highly touted as an economic stimulus bill that will help millions of Americans – and has the backing of both President Bush and House Speaker Nancy Pelosi. In the coming year, individuals would receive rebates of up to $600 and families up to $1,200. There are other goodies, too, including tax write-offs for small businesses and an expansion of the child tax credit.

I had been laid off and could not find another job for months when I received this $1800 and I can not tell you how much it helped. I actually paid my mortgage with it. This new plan will give me and my family of six (So far) about $41 per paycheck. Somehow I don’t think that is going to stimulate me to spend.

And the current batch of Dims are supporting this “Stimulus” bill with fanatic vigor even though it will cost them as much as it will me. For all their talk of being the saviors of the underprivileged, they sure are working hard to keep them in their impoverished state and reduce as many of us to the same as they can. Maybe that’s been the plan all along! Reduce us all to poverty, since they can’t stimulate the entitled to actually earn their way in life and work their way up the economic scale. Make it on their own merits!?! Shut my mouth, I must be one of those rich Republicans.
By the way, I was born in a log cabin in NW Arkansas and hunted for meat because we could not afford to buy it. And I went to college on my own merits and now make a modest living on my own. I work hard and pay my taxes and thank the rich for paying theirs because most of them pay more in taxes than I make in a year. And if they didn’t, then I wouldn’t have a job and would have to turn to the socialists for a hand out.
‘Scuse the self serving rant. I am a conservative after all.

Republicans oppose everything that doesn’t enrich the already rich.
They had eight years and now they don’t want anyone showing them up for the fools they are.
You can look at their mean faces when they are on TV and see just what a bunch of obstructionist assholes they are.

Well this Republican opposes socialist government programs. Such programs are designed to bamboozle the common people into thinking that they are getting something for nothing while ensuring their continued and increasing dependence upon the government. This so called “Stimulus” plan actually ensures that Obama’s chosen few remain rich and get richer while the obamatards that elected him just get to feel good. for a while, until they come to realize that their lot in life has not improved. Because they have not taken it into their own hands to improve their lives through their own efforts but have place their faith in politicians, Democrat or Republican, doesn’t matter.
This stimulus plan and the overall politics of the socialist liberal democrats are designed to prevent the common people from improving their economic status. If you think that the rich and powerful keeping the poor impoverished and the middle class impotent are only Republicans and no Democrats, then you are an idiot and deserve you fate. The very administration that you have sold yourselves to, is the one keeping you down.
True conservative Republican politics are designed to foster a healthy economy by building business and rewarding the hard working efforts of those that actually work to improve their lives.
Government programs will not save our economy, only Americans returning to the core values that once made this country great will.

Let’s concentrate on the CURRENT administration, shall we? Thank God it is happening. Did you hear Michael Steele today? “get ready baby, it is on!” I don’t know about you, but I think he will certainly “re-energize” the republican base. P.O. has got some real competition now, a true sparring partner.

I hope you are right about Michael Steele Deb, the party does need to become re-energized.

Well said once again whiteamericanpatriot, I have nothing to add to what you wrote. You wrote it all.

Rush sure did name this monstrocity right when he called it the porkulus package. How those dimwit dems can call all that shit good for the economy is beyond me. Good for the Republican House members and I hope the Senate follows suit. I am confident that they will.

In case you haven’t seen the numbers, NObama’s approval went from a high of 83% pre-election to under 62% (RCP average) for the period 1/21 til 1/29. At that rate, I expect it to be under 50% by tax day. BUYER’S REMORSE is kicking in!! He’s a smart boy, if he wants to keep his rating up, he better listen to the people and we the people don’t like this pork-filled plan!!

I have seen Obama’s numbers. Hopefully you are right and this bill will be defeated in it’s current form. I am feeling better about the chances of this bill being defeated.
