Stimulus? Obama to Spy on Medical Records

February 9, 2009

obamafingerPresident Obama is up-playing (if that is a word) the recession in order to pass much of his far left agenda before the people know what hit them.

One of the latest revelations of what is hidden in the bill is this story about the federalization of every American’s health care records including what treatments people are taking.

The bill’s health rules will affect “every individual in the United States” (445, 454, 479). Your medical treatments will be tracked electronically by a federal system. Having electronic medical records at your fingertips, easily transferred to a hospital, is beneficial. It will help avoid duplicate tests and errors.

What’s wrong with that? That sounds good doesn’t it? Streamlining the system to benefit all Americans. Read on:

But the bill goes further. One new bureaucracy, the National Coordinator of Health Information Technology, will monitor treatments to make sure your doctor is doing what the federal government deems appropriate and cost effective.

Wow! The government is going to monitor how your doctor is treating you and then deciding if the treatment is appropriate. So much for doctor/patient privacy. The government is going to set up an agency to spy on you and your medical history under President Obama and yet it was President Bush who was invading the privacy of Americans under the Patriot Act?

This provision in the stimulus bill was recommended by the now disgraced tax cheat Tom Daschle.

There is a reason Obama wants this bill passed quickly and the reason is that he doesn’t want his subjects finding out what is in this bill.

 The emperor has no clothes.

I get to have TWO chips on me now ? Deval wants to chip my card and track my mileage and O wants my medical records.
I will offer up devils advocate time here though. Currently private companies get your records and use them for profit. That’s not cool and I’d like to hear some outrage on that front. Also Newt Gingrich has long advocated using the power of IT to help the medical sector. Some of his ideas would raise some eyebrows but I am unaware of him ever advocating the govt. tracking/controlling it.

I just posted the story about Deval thinking about putting chips in the inspection stickes of cars.

You realize this is a baby step towards socialized medicine? Why else would the government want to monitor treatments? It looks like instead of forcing it down in one shot, they are trying to boil the frog.

Yes, this and the SCHIP expansion are the first steps. I don’t think we will be able to stop it. It’s too late.

Yet Obama’s own medical records remain a secret.

I’d rather have the government listen to my phone calls than tell my doctor what treatment I can and cannot have.
