President Obama Claims There is no Pork in the Stimulus Bill

February 10, 2009

When is Pork Not Pork? When the president says so.

obamafingerWhen President Obama answers questions from the media you can hear the arrogance and condescension in his voice. Sometimes even belligerence. He comes off as an I know what is best for you nanny state politician.

During last night’s press conference he came off as something else– a liar.

During his speech President Obama had the audacity (of hope) to claim there is no pork in his welfare stimulus package.

“I know that there are a lot of folks out there who’ve been saying, ‘Oh, this is pork, and this is money that’s going to be wasted,’ and et cetera, et cetera. Understand, this bill does not have a single earmark in it, which is unprecedented for a bill of this size. … There aren’t individual pork projects that members of Congress are putting into this bill.”

As this article points out, technically he is right, there are no individual earmarks, but this is a semantics game. Let’s face it, we all know pork when we see it and this bill is pork. As a matter of fact this bill is nothing but a giant pork barrel bill, the largest in history. President Obama is making history once again, this time by the amount of money he is willing to spend on welfare and left wing programs in one bill.

But the fact is President Obama can call his outrageous spending appropriations anything he wants but it is what it is and it is a huge expenditure that this country cannot afford. President Obama must think that Americans are too stupid to realize wasteful spending when they see it. Claiming that there is no pork in the stimulus is an outright lie. HE LIED to the American people and he thinks that we are either too stupid or uncaring/oblivious to the fact and that he can get away with such a clear untruth.

I find his arrogance and condescension downright offensive.

The stimulus package is a spending package. That’s the whole point. Pork is when a legislator puts funding for an aquarium in their hometown in a pretty much completely unrelated bill. This bill is designed as a spending / stimulus package. It’s DESIGNED to spend money. So who cares if you call it pork?

The Republicans version of the bill was one with only slightly less spending and a hell of a lot more tax cuts for the wealthy. As a middle class person, I’m not interested.

How can you tell if 0bama’s lying? His lips are moving. Every time I see this thing I thank God I don’t have children. They’ll be broke their entire life paying for the “non-pork” stimulus.

There’s no change there. That’s the same way he stole the presidency, by lying to us, over and over and over again, until the lies “became” true to enough people.

Ti use a quote from Seinfeld when Jerry asked George how to pass a lie detector test, “it’s not a lie if YOU believe it.”

“Like a doll’s eyes”. I guess it depends on what your definition of earmark is. When he used the word project in the next sentence, that pretty much defined it for me.
