President Obama Lied About Caterpillar Rehiring Employees if the Stimulus Passed

February 12, 2009

President Obama has been embarked on a magical, mystical tour to try to sell his stimulus bill to a country that doesn’t want it. He is not above saying anything to persuade the people that his stimulus package will work, including lying.

President Obama told an audience at one of his gatherings that if only the Senate would pass his stimulus bill Caterpillar would hire back some of the people that they were forced to lay off. He claimed that the company told him they would hire back employees if the stimulus bill passed.

This was an out and out lie, it was bullshit. Today the CEO of Caterpillar called out the president on his bogus lie.

The CEO of Caterpillar said today that not only will Obama’s stimulus package not stop the layoffs from happening but that there would be more layoffs before the company began hiring again.

President Obama was caught in another lie. He will do and say anything to pass his radical left agenda, the truth be damned.

Today the CEO of Caterpillar basically exposed Barry Obama for who he is. He is a fraud, he is all style and no substance and most of his style appears to be lies. But he lies so well, he says it so well that people just want to believe him. We find out more and more every day however, that he cannot be trusted. His word isn’t worth the paper that it is printed on.

You know, whenever I’ve gotten a new job, I had 90 days to prove I wasn’t a bungling moron. How is it that Obama gets 4 years?

Barack Obama has said time and time again (please, look it up) that the economy is going to get worse before it gets better, and that things are not going to look up before at least 2010. The CEO of Caterpiller was asked if passing the stimulus package would immediately allow them to rehire workers, and the CEO said that it wouldn’t happen until around 2010, just like the president. However, the CEO of Caterpiller said that it would be the stimulus package that would help lead to this upturn, exactly as the president has said.

Did Obama simplify and compress time in his speech? Yes. Did he contradict the CEO of Caterpiller? That’s the impression you’d get if you listen to the so-called liberal media.

I saw this, and I’d be shocked if it got greater play in the MSM, if only for the simple fact it shows Ol’ Barry for the huckster fraud he really is. It’s absolutely amazing to me that we’re not even one month in and already he’s soured the taste in so many mouths.

Charles, he did contradict the CEO of Caterpillar. You can make excuses and claim that he was just trying to save time and compress his speech but he said what he said and it was different from what the CEO of Caterpillar said.
Obama needs to realize that in today’s world there are cameras everywhere and you can’t get away with saying whatever you want based on who you are talking to.

I’d also point out the obvious BS of this. Even if every shovel ready job in America that is slated to get stimulus $ there is still….Deere,Komatsu.Volvo,Terex, and on and on. If you get laid off from cat you should cross all your fingers and toes that maybe-maybe you’ll get work 3+ years from now secondary to places like Dubai needing the high end stuff.

I can’t wait for Obama to get out his unicycle and show us another textbook technique on the backpeddle.

Did P.O. think that people would really believe that the porkulus bill would directly and immediately save their jobs? Why? Just because P.O. said so? Is Caterpillar mostly union jobs or not? If yes then WOW! he is ticking off his own base. Unless (OMG) they want to believe P.O. instead of Jim. I can just see it now, “You can’t lay me off, Obama said so!” Sheesh.

what an ignorant ass you are.

obama clearly said two days ago that CEO Jim Owen TOLD HIM that if the bill passed Caterpillar could rehire SOME of its laid-off employees.

and if you read Owen’s “rebuttal,” it is no rebuttal at all. he does not deny telling obama that “some” employees would be rehired.

it’s pretty easy to understand why congressional republicans are eager to paint the president as a liar on no evidence whatsoever, but i would expect better of people who claim to be good americans like yourselves.

You know what is great about this story? The workers new this was baloney. 1,400 called, emailed, and demanded that the Senator Schock NOT back the PayBack Package aka stimulus. Here is the link.

Apparently, Obama didn’t get the message that most Americans aren’t on board and we know he is hoodwinking us!

The simple fact is that you can go to “Caterpillar’s” website and check their NEWS RELEASES. Owens did in fact say he anticipates rehiring people as the stimulus bill takes affect. Illinois is expecting to begin the re-construction projects by mid-May and has many projects on the books and is prepared to take any left over money from the laggard states that don’t spend their cut. I find it unfortunate that critics of the stimulus are too lazy to even check the news releases related to the companies that have made statements in reference to a rehiring. This laziness indicates a lack of good judgement based on the facts, furthermore i would advise critics of the facts to rethink their position before making public statements based on mis-truths and get their collective heads out of their ass.

Last week Caterpillar announced 2,200 layoffs, so much for the stimulus. Perhaps you missed that “news release.”

Maybe they were both right- Cat is building a plant and hiring (after the stimulus bill passed). Only they’re doing it in China claiming they want to be close to their customers- not the US and ship the excavators.

The reality is China is smart enough to tell foreign companies, if you want to sell into our market, you hire our people and put your factory and money in our country- and you keep the profits.

A lesson the US never learned.

Caterpillar to install factory in China: company

    – Wed Sep 29, 9:01 am ET

NEW YORK (AFP) – Caterpillar, the world’s largest manufacturer of construction equipment, will build a factory in China to produce mini hydraulic excavators, the company said in a statement.

Construction will begin in Wujiang, near Shanghai, at the end of 2010 and the facility should be ready in 2012 to begin production of mini excavators of less than eight tons, the company said Tuesday.
