Homeland Security Issues a Report Warning of Right Wing Radicals

April 14, 2009

Is this how people who oppose this administration are going to be characterized? This is truly scary. The department of Homeland Security has issued a report in which people on the right are being stereotyped as violent, gun-toting racists and law enforcement is being told to be on the lookout.

The nine-page document was sent to police and sheriff’s departments across the United States on April 7 under the headline, “Rightwing Extremism: Current Economic and Political Climate Fueling Resurgence in Radicalization and Recruitment.”

The following is also in the report:

It says the federal government “will be working with its state and local partners over the next several months” to gather information on “rightwing extremist activity in the United States.”

The joint federal-state activities will have “a particular emphasis” on the causes of “rightwing extremist radicalization.”

But this report goes deeper than just stereotyping the people on the right on the issues of guns and race, it also warns of people who want illegal immigration stopped and warns of people who are anti-abortion, and it warns of people who feel the federal government is growing too big.

Basically if you are on the opposite side of an issue with this president the Department of Homeland Security believes that you are a threat to radicalize. This is a frightening, there was a time when dissent was patriotic (remember Hillary?) but now dissent because it is on the right wing is dangerous and must be closely watched.

The president has distanced himself from this report but the fact is that he appointed Janet Napolitano so he owns this report. He had to have known her stance on issues such as this and he must have agreed with it or he would not have appointed her.

The left has found it’s enemy and it is not alQaeda and it is not North Korea, Iran, or Cuba, it is half of the American people.

Sorry to burst his bubble but we ‘Right wingers’ will not comply with his orders. Let him continue this crap and he will make matters worse in this country.

No you only hate Obama because he is a black man. Bush did worse to you and your familes and it was ok with you. It is a sad day when those that lead you are Rush and Hannedy.

You are part of the losing team. America has moved us. You are becoming a minority with your thinking and you way of live.

        Shoo-
I would have preferred Ed Brooke, MLK, Colin Powell, or Bill Cosby to this Commie. It’s not a black issue but being black is why he was elected. I don’t hate BO, just his policies.

“Right wingers’ will not comply with his orders.”

Barbara: Statements like that should certainly alarm Homeland Security professionals. Remember that last Right Wing inspired tragedy in Oklahoma City? Our government has every reason to prevent it from happening again.

BTW, it’s spelled “Obama,” and it’s interesting to note the extremelt poor spelling and grammar skills of the half of our population who don’t support the president.

What is wrong with people???? You make a comment about glass houses,
but can’t look at yours? So many are proud to be Americans that stereotype others. So many look at your neighbors with disgust because they are a different race, gender, religion, nationality, etc. Do you know this person is Cuban? And if so, is there something wrong with that? My husband was born and raised in the United States, but is Cuban. Are you saying it is shamefull to be Cuban? What else is it shamefull to be then? I’m sure that all of us fit in somewhere!

Very interesting view point… Violence is OK when done by “Politically Correct” people?

So, what happen in Oklahoma City is bad, but self-professed Marxist Bill Ayers and his Underground Weathermen blowing up several building and killing people is NOT bad. In fact, not only is he unrepentant, he is NOT serving life in prison for murder and treason. Instead, he is rewarded with a professorship teaching our children to HATE our Republic, receives plenty of “grant” money from Left-Wing foundations, and helps our President launch his national political career. That, apparently is OK. I guess that means that other Communist groups should be rewarded for doing what Ayers did — the Symbionese Lliberation Army, the Animal Liberation Front, the Environmental Liberation Front …. notice how they all say they are an “army of liberation” but all they do is kill and destroy in their efforts to force Marxism down our throats. You OK with that?

An obvious typo, something that you know about.
Oklahoma City was inspired by Bill Clinton and Janet Reno who burned children alive at Wako and shot a mother as she was holding her baby on Ruby Ridge. Not that I am condoning the actions of Timothy McVeigh (that might be spelled wrong if it is I am sure someone will let me know) I am glad that bastard got his just reward.

Timothy McVeigh was a domsetic terrorist but he was one man he does not represent the right wing, get a clue.
To lump people who are anti-abortion, pro gun rights, and for small government in with Timothy McVeigh and white supremacists is highly offensive and ignorant.

Since when do we have to follow “orders” from the Government? The government is here to enforce laws, yes. But not to tell us how to live our lives.

Oh, I saw the word Marxism in there somewhere:)
During the cold war, we as Americans strived to keep communism out of our country and OUR government. Guess what, it’s sneaked in through the back door. Not through Obama, no, he’ll juat add to what’s already there.

Look at Marx’s 10 (or whatever number it was) Points of Communism. We meet just about every one of them.

We are not ANTI government, and shouldn’t be anti-taxes. We want a smaller government that uses our money for our good, in the ways we want it used.

We need to look at history,
Just before the “Great Depression” the US was absolutely THRIVING. The president during that time PHYSICALLY made the government smaller (like selling Gov land and old buildings even).
Guess what happened when the new administration came in and instantly started making government bigger – we started an economic decline and (among other things) led to the great depression.

We need to look at the current world around us.
National “free” healthcare has not really worked in ANY other country. It’s not free. Sure, you may get a tooth pulled for free. But you have to wait 5 months and in the meantime pay your quaint 50% income tax.

ADD ME (an 18 year old kid in HS) TO THE LIST!!!! 🙂

Not wanting a larger government that is spending our great grandchildrens heritage is not “right-wing.” You thinking that losing our Constitutional rights is patriotic is the problem – “Don’ tread on Me” is a profound message that our over bloated government needs to understand!!!!!!!

This targeting of Americans under the profiling of “right-wing extremists” is absolutely repulsive and needs to be retracted. With 48% of the population having voted for John McCain, this demonizes half the US population – which is likely the intent? This is the equivalent of racial profiling of blacks or the profiling people of middle-eastern origin. This action is something I’d expected from Mao Zedong not the United States of America – and I’m outraged.

So, wait, let me do the math here.
If I own a gun – because I like the idea of being able to protect myself, and I’m entitled to it according to our “right to bear arms” – I’m a terrorist. If vote republican I’m a terrorist. If I happen to think it’s wrong to murder innocent unborn children because they’re “inconvenient” I’m a terrorist. If I disagree with ANYTHING the president says I’m a terrorist. If I don’t like illegal immigrants stealing our social security numbers and mucking up the system – utilizing our resources and killing our people or stealing their jobs (if they have jobs in the first place) I’m a terrorist.

If I think that the United States was founded by great leaders – who happened to oppose the injustices caused to them by their leaders – who stood their ground, who said “NO MORE!” and birthed our great nation out of a desire for freedom I’m a terrorist.
Let me go tell George Washington, so he can roll over in his grave.

Talk about an overabundance of knee-jerk reactions.

First off, the term “right-wing extremists” referring to domestic terrorists such as McVeigh predates the Obama administration by at least 10 years. These are the people on which this report concentrates; not your run of the mill card holding republican/libertarian. Let me remind you that there were a number of incidents of people shouting “kill him” at Palin rallies. On talk radio, I’ve heard a number of people make veiled suggestions for armed uprising; especially on Beck’s program. People with this mindset should be watched.

Secondly, if memory serves me correctly, one of the biggest criticisms of Obama was that he will not do his job when it comes to dealing with terrorism. This is a report by the DHS and by extension the Obama administration for attempting to identify domestic terrorists. In other words, he’s being criticized for doing his job.

Finally, there have been similar reports made about left wing extremists. This is not a case of picking on the right. This is a standard assessment of possible terrorist activity.

“FOX News has obtained a copy of the assessment, dated Jan. 26 and titled “Left-wing Extremists Likely to Increase Use of Cyberattacks Over the Coming Decade.” It concentrates largely on the technical savvy of left-wing extremists and not bloodshed.

“The perception that cyberattacks are non-violent aligns well with ideological beliefs, strategic objectives and tactics of many left-wing extremists,” the earlier report reads. “The increasing reliance of commercial business and other enterprises on cyber technologies, including interconnected networks and remote access, creates new and expanding vulnerabilities that technically savvy left-wing extremists will exploit.””

The report goes beyond domestic terrorists though.

” A footnote attached to the report by the Homeland Security Office of Intelligence and Analysis defines “rightwing extremism in the United States” as including not just racist or hate groups, but also groups that reject federal authority in favor of state or local authority.

“It may include groups and individuals that are dedicated to a single-issue, such as opposition to abortion or immigration,” the warning says.”

They can define anti-abortion groups or groups that want to end illegal immigration as hate groups.

They have always been able to define anti-abortion groups and anti-immigration groups as terrorists using the definition in the Patriot act. There have been past incidents of violence by those two groups that by today’s standards would be called terrorism. It would be irresponsible to not include them in an assessment.

It is important to note that the context of the document is an assessment to assist in identifying and preventing domestic terrorism. A lot of it concentrates on the types of people that are likely to join these groups and the types of people that these groups will target for recruitment.

To be honest, I expect that there is a similar document that concentrates on left wing extremism. I know of a report that lists left wing extremist groups that was written for the Department of Energy (pdf).

The report says, “The DHS/Office of Intelligence and Analysis (I&A) has no specific
information that domestic rightwing* terrorists are currently planning acts of violence…” The point of the report is that these groups are potential threats just like the DHS (and heck the conservatives in general) painted left wing groups such as ALF, ELF, PETA, climate change cultists, anti-capitalists, and others as potential threats.

It’s unfortunate that many people speak of the Oklahoma bombing like it’s an epidemic of some kind. It’s not. On the other hand our enemies both “foreign and domestic” are the issue at hand. We have American haters all over the world (the majority being 3rd world countries) and we have American haters right here in our own Congress. The rush to “give the people ” everything they want and the reason for doing it are 2 different things. The majority of the people who have nothing have nothing because they aspire to have nothing. That will happen in every country around the world regardless of what continent you live on. Some people feel it’s the governments responsibility to provide for them. Unfortunately it’s our “public servants” who feel that way. It makes some of them feel good to give and give and give yet they have know idea they are being made fools of. The seconds reason if for votes. Just because the election is over do not think these Democrats are not campaigning right not as we speak. They have not stopped campaigning. Everything now is for the mid term election vote.

It is funny how the post election polls do not back this up. Obama pulled more of the college educated voters. I guess rationalizing Obama supporters in this manner should be expected. To do otherwise would require introspection on part of the republicans. No, it couldn’t have anything to do with an unpopular war or an economic crisis resulting from fraud (what branch of government enforces the laws).

Please remember we are all on the same team no matter who you like we need to get past that and stop fighting with each other are goal is to bring this nation back to it’s roots and for all of of us to live as one and for the ones who do not put into the system to shut up or put up. it is also a time that we need to remenber what it is about the U S A that people from all over the world have come here for and ask ourselves why we let a few of them change who we are. we have sat back and let people trample our rights day after day and now that we have had it they want to turn us on each other.(Divided We Fail) United We Stand how hard is that to understand ? when 9-11 happened we were all one and that is when we can get stuff done we have to be fair with each other or it will not work at the end of the day we all want the same, peace prosparity and the right to be free thinkers but respect others that have a different way of seeing things .we need to get back to town hall meetings like we use to have and include all colors and be able to speak freely but with respect and honesty to each other. Yes there are some deep scars on all sides but we have to put it behind us and move on .make no mistake about it no politican cares about us and while we fight ourselves they are already planning the next election while we sit on or butts pointing fingers at each other . also we need to stop talking about obama he is not the one I voted for but he is the comander in chief. we do not want to sound like the bush hatters did? lead by example. And for those who keep talking about education level of voters stop it . it does not matter your level of education if you are a law abiding citizen and pay taxes and vote you have the right to have an opinion i am a high school drop out that came from a poor household and i have 14 employees and have been self employed 17 years and make over a 100k and i can not spell that great and do not know alot of big words and may not be very impressive but i am street smart and work hard as well do my employees and i am here for the cause. so do not be shallow. Work Hard be fair and honest and remember what goes around comes around . GOD BLESS ALL OF YOU AND THIS GREAT NATION.

As a disabled Veteran, I am appalled that Janet Napolitano (Former AZ Sanctuary Governor)has once again did Obama’s bidding and is now actively using profiling to try and silence those who speak out against the insanity in DC. Veterans are the backbone of this nation, they were and still are willing to lay down thier lives to defend our constitution, our way of life and our freedoms. It is shameful that those in DC who took the oath to defend and protect our nation from enemies foreign and domestic, are now singling out sportsmen, people who are against illegal immigration, people who support right to life and others. This is what this is about, not letting the government dictate what you can beleive in, speak about or what cause you choose to champion in your personal life. Wasn’t it Obama that said he wanted to do away with profiling, claiming all the way he was a sucess story when it came to civil right? Well our civil rights are now under attack by the government and especially by Secretary Napolitano, DHS and the current administration. I am a Veteran, a 100% Service Connected disabled Veteran, I stood watch when the FALN (terror group) tried to direct attacks at my unit. I now see we have an Attorney General who granted these same terrorists pardons. Who should we fear here, the ones who served thier country or the ones trying to destroy it from the inside?

    This is tragic news.

Are we to begin to view Obamaism as the new “brown shirts” in American society?

I suggest that we don’t just speak up, but that we shout aloud.

The idea that McViegh was working with Muslims is ludricrous. Typical of the ridiculous right to disinherit their own when it’s convenient. There have not been any dangerous liberals since the late 60’s. Liberals aren’t holding up in Idaho mountain compounds collecting weapons and dreaming of a white utopia. Liberals aren’t assinating abortion doctors, bombing health clinics and gay bars. Liberals don’t burn crosses in front yards, lynch minorities, murder transexuals, or try to deny gays and lesbians their EQUAL rights as American citizens.

This is no more trying to brand law abiding conservative citizens as criminals than Bush did when he set out to interrogate every foriegn Muslim living in the US after 9/11. Oh, wait! He did drag them all into police stations, hold them without charges, and make them prove themselves innocent! But that’s different “those was furigners” not decent christian white folk like Timothy Mveigh, David Duke, and Lee Harvey Oswald. Even President Regan, the only conservative president ever shot at, was shot by a schizophrenic who wanted to impress a holywood starlet, not a political nutcase bent on regime change. I say thank you President Obama! I for one am not looking forward to the fundimentalist Christian Taliban taking over America. If you don’t think they are out there, you are either not reading the right websites, or trying to help keep them undercover until their “New Day dawns.”

Wow. This sounds like some of the crap that was put out during the Nixon administration to suppress the radical left.

Is this the kind of “Change” that was promised?

It is funny how the post election polls do not back this up. Obama pulled more of the college educated voters. I guess rationalizing Obama supporters in this manner should be expected. To do otherwise would require introspection on part of the republicans. No, it couldn’t have anything to do with an unpopular war or an economic crisis resulting from fraud (what branch of government enforces the laws).

as a non college degree holding disabled veteran, I’m not sure if I come anywhere close to holding your incredible insight and perspective on all matters worldly, however, somewhere during my lack of higher educational travels (I believe it was around 3rd grade), I learned there were only 3 branches of government and I don’t recall the JUSTICE “DEPARTMENT” being among them. Perhaps you can look in one of your textbooks (that square thing with all the graffiti inside) where it might say something like “there is a JUDICIARY branch of government”, look further and it may tell you that “the JUSTICE department is a CABINET position (you know.. right there next to the kitchen sink). Other than that, maybe you could write again and display what MOM and DAD wasted (oops I mean taxpayers spent) those many dollars on.

Well excuse me for wanting to use facts and logic rather than emotion to make my arguments. The point that I was addressing was the claim that only the Obama voters were a bunch of uneducated idiots. The facts do not support the argument. Now, I will say that Obama did a better job of mobilizing his “3L” supporters than McCain did in mobilizing his “3L” supporters.

Let me point out something: Obama won Indiana. Indiana is a republican/conservative stronghold. Just the fact that it was even a battleground surprised me but for him to actually win it should say something. In my microcosm (sorry, that’s a big word), I am seeing it was a lack of support for what the republicans were offering. This is a point that seems to be escaping the republican leadership.

Dude, you are assuming way too much to think that I was saying the justice department is a branch of government. The president does more than just sends troops to war and signs/vetoes legislation. The president’s job is to enforce federal laws which is where the justice department, DHS, CIA, FBI, NSA, and so on come into play.

I did make a mistake in my comment that you quoted. When I said “rationalizing Obama supporters”, I should have said “rationalizing Obama voters.” Not everybody that voted for him actually supported him.

Was it me or did homeland “security” only cite WHITE and CHRISTIAN as being potential threats to our way of life. HMMMMMM if I were to express similar comments of others (unless of course they were WHITE or CHRISTIAN), I would be accused of HATE SPEECH. Funny how that seems to make perfect sense to the left thinking crowd.

And just so Terrant isn’t confused and start tossing out further comments about my lack of “insightful and perspective seeking” analysis, I want to make it perfectly clear to him that my use of the words Judiciary and Justice does not make me an anti Semite.

If I may make a suggestion…The Declaration of Independence and the Constitution should be required reading for anyone and everyone. These are not difficult documents to understand. At least put forth a little effort to comprehend why our country exists. If you voted for Obama, congratulations. If you voted for McCain, you pretty much got him, anyway. My problem (and I vote in elections at all levels) is that these 2 gentlemen were deemed the best choice by politicians, not the people. We fight each other as mortal enemies, each taking potshots at the other’s supposed lack of intelligence. What are we doing? We chose between 2 candidates presented. We didn’t hold either to account for their records in “public service,” we allowed the media do our jobs poorly, or not at all, and we allowed the 2 parties to present their choices for our diversion. Stop yelling at each other, please. Take a look in the mirror, challenge yourself to do better, do more, read more, act more responsibly now, in the future, at the voting booth, in your community. Read the constitution. Believe me, you will know more than your (our) “leaders.” Stop being cannon fodder for the two parties. In my humble estimation, we are dangerously close to fascism. We yell at each other, point fingers, defend the indefensible on behalf of leaders who don’t care if we exist in the first place, only need us for what we can give, or they can take, and whose sole purpose has been to gain more power. Save a few notable exceptions, they think we exist for them. The constitution tells you what leadership is, who it serves, and why. Any action taken by any leader, no matter the political affiliation du jour, outside those parameters, is FACIST. President Obama has just joined the ranks of those who have paved the way for him to continue the policies of diversion, division, and the end of a sovereign nation. Stop making this personal to him. He’s just marching to the same tune we have long since tuned out, because we are too busy to devote any time to intellectual honesty. No one commenting here has ANY power over our lives. Time to shift our focus to those who do, and can’t wait to gain more.

I certainly wish that more people thought this way. Too many people (on both sides) are saying “it’s got to be this way and that’s final.”
