Janet Napolitano Apologizes to US Veterans…..Sort of

April 16, 2009

Today Janet Napolitano issued an apology of sorts to the veterans of the United States of America.

To the extent veterans read it as an accusation,” Napolitano told FOX News, “an apology is owed

The reason I don’t consider this an apology is because she has not accepted responsibility for the words, in fact she isn’t sorry about what was written just the way it was written.

If there’s one part of that report I would re-write — in the wordsmithing, Washingtonese that goes on after the fact — it would be that footnote

She isn’t apologizing for the report that said United States veterans could pose a possible terrorist threat, she is apologizing for the fact that veterans misinterpreted  the report.

But there is still one question that remains, why is it that when she gave her first speech in front of congress that she refused to use the word terrorism when talking about the threat from Islamic extremists, but she has no problem using the word terrorism when she is talking about United States veterans and their potential to be radicalized by we right wing extremists?

“Sort of” doesn’t cover it. She did not even come close to apologizing. “An apology is owed”? WTF? She might as well have added, “but it is certainly not going to be me who gives it”. She is indescribable. Her brother must be embarrassed.

Your right, she never did apologize did she. Not even sort of. She is the judge’s sister? I never knew that.

“To the extent veterans read it as an accusation”

Uh, sorry. We didn’t read it as an accusation. It was.

You know….maybe if we instituted mandatory military services FOR ALL Americans, this kind of stupidity would stop! I mean really – “homicidal psychos deformed by war.” What the hell is that!

This makes me so angry and frustrated. These are the men and women who have given up legs, limbs, and their lives to defend this country! They deserve a modicum of respect and honor.

And if you haven’t been in the military, shut up, because you don’t know what your talking about. Our men and women are among the finest in America. Enough with this ridiculous rhetoric already!

They reep using Timothy McVeigh as their one example, it is time for them to let it go. He was one man and does not represent the military.

Napolitano’s use of Oklahoma City in 1995 certainly is an intriguing example of how US military veterans are supposedly some sort of threat to us all.

That bombing was a single event, staged almost 14 years ago- hasn’t Al Qaida staged hundreds of attacks on US interests since then? Why so little mention of them since she was appointed three months ago- isn’t keeping a lid on those medieval savages 80% of her job description? Isn’t that why the Department of Homeland Security created in the first-place?

Apparently there is no bounds to what government assets Obama will prostitute for his own purposes… while neglecting daunting, actual threats in the meantime.

So all who wondered why Obama chose this obedient toady to head Homeland Security now have their answer: a serious choice who would have focused upon real terrorist threats -not imaginary, partisan ones- like, say, a Rudolph Giuliani, wouldn’t have been a willing participant in such a sham report.
