There Are Not 46 Million Americans Without Healthcare

June 17, 2009

  The president has been repeating over and over that 46 million Americans do not have healthcare for so long that it has been accepted by the American people, and the media, as truth. But it is not true, it is a lie.

   It is a clever little lie designed to drum up support for the president’s healthcare reform bill. The truth is that there are 46 million people in America who lack health insurance. That is not the same as 46 million Americans without healthcare.

  The number of uninsured “Americans” that the president keeps throwing out there includes about 10 million legal and illegal aliens. Over 20% of the people who do not have healthcare in America are not citizens of America, and if the president has his way you and I are going to pay for their health insurance. The 46 million number that the president keeps touting is probably an accurate number of the people the president plans to help insure.

   The taxpayer will be paying healthcare benefits for 10 million illegal aliens and foreign nationals. The president knows that the American people will not support paying healthcare benefits to those who are not citizens and so he has intentionally blurred the line and included non-citizens when speaking about uninsured Americans. It is a fine line when speaking of Americans and people living in America.

  A clever deception indeed.

    I heard another conservative commentator saying that should this healthplan pass they predict that it will cause another 28 million to lose coverage. Sounds like fun. We will cover 10 million illegals by killing coverage for 28 million citizens. Welcom to progressivism, socialism or whatever cute term we are using now.

    i wonder how providing healthcare/insurance for ALL (including illegals, and non-citizens) will somehow make 28 million other people lose coverage.

    what part of ALL dont you understand…. how are they losing coverage, if it is being provided to them.

    does conservative == 3rd grader?

      even third graders don’t believe everything they are told, even when it is the great and powerful Obama saying it. I just wonder if that # includes people like me who have coverage from my husband and not through my own job. And people who choose not to have it. And people who are temporarily unemployed, or in the process of applying for disability (legitimately or not).

        You touched on the dirty little secret, there are many people who choose not to have health insurance, under Obama’s plan they will be forced to buy health insurance. (At a cost to the taxpayer of course.)

      I believe that what Robert was talking about was that many Americans will lose their employer provided insurance and will end up on the government teat, thus costing the taxpayers money for people who previously had health insurance on their own.

    We already provide healthcare for the illegals – all they have to do is walk into the emergency room at any hospital. All the Obama plan does is make it legal and paid for by the taxpayer.

    Besides, the Left will tell that little lie based on a little truth to get their agenda passed.
