John Boehner Says That Joe Biden is Lying About “Misreading” the Economy

July 8, 2009

  According to this article John Boehner is claiming that Joe Biden is lying about his claim that the administration “misread the economy” when they passed the stimulus bill.

“I found it … interesting over the last couple of days to hear Vice President Biden and the president mention the fact that they didn’t realize how difficult an economic circumstance we were in,” Boehner said. “Now this is the greatest fabrication I have seen since I’ve been in Congress.”

 “I’ve sat in meetings in the White House with the vice president and the president. There’s not one person that sat in those rooms that didn’t understand how serious our economic crisis was,”

  But Boehner did not stop there as he claimed, rightfully so, that the talk that has begun about a second stimulus bill is actually an admission that the stimulus bill has failed.

“All of this talk of a second stimulus bill, I think, is an admission on the part of the administration that their stimulus plan is not working,”

  President Obama’s stimulus bill has failed. All of the recent talk of a second stimulus bill is all the proof that we need. Now we have a prominent Republican calling out the president and the vice president on their failed policies and it is good to see to say the least.

  President Obama needs to be held accountable for wasting close to $1 trillion and sending us deeper in debt on a policy that has failed to do anything. The administration also needs to be held accountable as to what they knew about the economy and when they knew it.

  If the president failed to understand how bad the economy actually was that is no better than implementing a policy that was doomed to failure. Either the president failed to understand the economy or Joe Biden is lying to protect the president’s ass. Neither option covers the president in glory.

  If politicians think that repeating the failed policies of the first stimulus bill will bring different results the second time around they are  just plain stupid.

    Yeah, I see you don’t much attention to anything but the GOP talking points. Less than 10% of the stimulus has been spent so far. The stimulus can’t be a failure if it hasn’t even started to happen yet. Now, I wonder what could be keeping it from being disbursed? Could it be the Republican party of “No, not unless you do it our way even though we’ve been an abject failure for the last twenty or more years?” Naw, that couldn’t be it.

      I have written about the contradictions in the administration in regards to the stimulus bill before. On one hand Biden says that the stimulus bill cannot be judged yet because the money hasn’t been spent yet but on the other hand he won’t rule out a second stimulus. Why are others in the administration calling for another stimulus when most of the first hasn’t been spent yet? Because they know it has already failed.
      How can the Republicans be blocking the stimulus spending, they do not control the house or senate, the bill passed without their votes and the money can be spent without them.

    Oh, the Republicans aren’t blocking it, per se, the Democrats in Congress and the Senate are trying to appease them while they should just ignore them. Many states are still negotiating what they can put the money too, and though a lot of money has been given to states, they haven’t disbursed it themselves so it’s not doing anything at the moment. It’s not just the congressional and senatorial reps that are in the way, it’s also the inane governors that try and stamp around disagreeing to accept it even thought their own legislature approves of it, and so do their constituents. The stimulus is happening, whether anyone wants it to or not. The only strategy the GOP has is to try and slow it down as much as possible so that people will become impatient and say it doesn’t work when in fact it has barely even begun.

    The point is, we don’t know how well the stimulus bill is working, nor will we know for another year or two. It takes to long to disburse it, then study its effects, and then put all of that information together. Don’t worry though, it will have worked or failed by Obama’s reelection time, and that will be the deciding factor for most of America. We’ll have to wait and see. I hope it works, one because we’re screwed if it doesn’t, and two because then the country won’t bounce back to the Republicans. I want the stimulus to be so successful that in 2012 people wonder why they ever listened to Republicans in the first place, and the party disappears.

      I agree with you on one point; that the stimulus bill will be a major factor in the 2010 election one way or the other depending on if it works or not. But I disagree with the whole notion that the stimulus bill was needed in the first place, just as I disagreed with the bailout bills that began under President Bush.I do not believe we are screwed if the stimulus bill does not work other than the money that was thrown away, I believe that the free market will come back as it always does without government intervention.

    Obama thinks everyone is as stupid as the people that voted for him. He makes the loosest, most general statements possible, then attempts to imply that Bush is responsible for all the rampant spending because it started under him.

    He lies and changes his story at-will, and you’re expected to just swallow his evolving an malleable version of reality as it goes along. And if he contradicts himself constantly, while the press does stories on his puppy and other goofy crap.

    Obama wants the state to be your mother and father- and it’s his right to lie to you if he wishes… just like your parents when you were five. Government will be one you come to for money, ask permission when you want to think or speak, and who handles all your finances for you since of course you can’t be trusted.

    @Mr. Pink Eyes,

    Well, I agree that the bailouts were complete bullshit, but I do support the stimulus IF the money actually goes to jobs and programs that help people and not just in people’s greedy pockets. I’m being optimistic and thinking it will be about 50/50.

    @Reaganite Republican

    Get a clue. Reagan was a showman, plain and simple. His policies and his voodoo economics were the problem, not government.

    Bring different results the second time around? That’s not just stupid S., that’s just plain crazy. As in insane (definition of). Give it a chance? Why because it worked so well in the ’30’s? in the ’70’s?

    And by the way, Biden—- I think maybe the goofy foot in mouth thing may be wearing off and the tangled web is starting to come through.
