Texas May Reject Healthcare Reform by Invoking State’s Rights
The governor of Texas, Rick Perry, has stated that he would consider invoking state’s rights in order to resist Obama’s nationalized healthcare reform bill. He claims that the healthcare reform bill will be disastrous to Texas and he is right, but it will also be disastrous to all other states and to every taxpaying American worker.
This is not the first time that Rick Perry has stood up for the independent rights of Texas in the recent past. But he is now predicting that there will be other states that follow Texas’ lead on this issue and resist the implementation of the healthcare reform bill.
When Obama’s healthcare reform bill passes, and it probably will pass eventually unless we can delay in until after the 2010 elections, there looks to be a major confrontation between Texas, (and hopefully other states will join the fight), and the overreaching, out of control federal government.
I hope that the governor is not just posturing, I hope that he means what he says, and I hope that if the healthcare reform bill does pass that Rick Perry will be a man of his word and stand up to the federal government. I hope that he tells Obama that enough is enough and that he takes his case all the way to the Supreme Court if necessary.
But most of all I hope that other states will follow suit and throw away the bonds of an overreaching federal government. A federal government that somewhere along the line got last and doesn’t understand the role that was laid out for it in the constitution.

You have quite a twisted view of healthcare reform, Bubba. What are you so scared of? The richest people in America are going to have to fork over a tiny bit extra in their taxes so that we can have a public care option to accommodate the millions of American’s who are going without medical care right now. Why do you view this as a negative?
The federal government is not something I defend regularly, but this is something that has needed to be done for decades, and people like the governor or Texas who try to block it are just ignorant protesters who are doing more harm than good.
To any of the stupid brutes who think that healthcare reform will lead to socialism…do some fucking research you bumbling baboons! More often than not, the reason the right wing vampires try to block these improvements is because of fear. Not fear of loosing human rights, but fear of loosing money. I know you rich scoundrels are making big bank off of the major insurance and pharmaceutical companies , but fuck that, we need to concentrate on the well being of our citizens.
You should stop encouraging them, we don’t need anymore opinions formed in the dark. This is the first step in a series of improvements that must be completed for America to continue to be the best damn country on the planet, so do a little reading and decide for yourself, and for god’s sake stop being so paranoid!

Give an example of a country where socialized medicine works….(why do I hear crickets?)
Why ruin the country for the 5% uninsured? Why ruin it for the other 95%? Majority doesn’t rule anymore? I don’t know who is more ignorant and needs to do more research…than you. Did you read anything is in that bill? Unless somebody is planning to be on welfare for their whole life, no right mind agrees with anything is in there.
The best country on the planet is about to be taken over by the communists/socialists/marxists, or better yet, statists.
If you like this kind of health care please move to Cuba or Venezuela and leave the freedom loving people alone!

Why not fix medicaid and medicare before starting yet another healthcare program that the government can NOT run? If you think the government can run this mammoth healthcare program any better than they are running medicare/medicaid, you should talk to a vet. They will tell you how bad it’s going to get.
I just don’t get you guys?

I read your post on this and I think you have hit on a great idea. Let Obama prove that his healthcare plans will work by applying them to Medicaide and Medicare first. If that works than maybe we can listen to him on healthcare.

That sounds like a very reasonable idea. I just don’t think Obama is very reasonable.

With a majority of Americans opposed to Obama’s healthcare plan, and with about 85% of Americans happy with their healthcare I would say that those who approve of Obama’s healthcare plan have a twisted view on healthcare, not me. I am with the majority on this issue.
The rich are not going to foot the bill for healthcare alone regardless of what the president says. What am I afraid of? I am afraid that I will be paying for the healthcare of others as well as my own when I could use the money that will be taken from me to provide for my own children. The fact that Obama is open to taxing my healthcare benefits means that I will be paying for other’s healthcare insurance, and I am by no means rich.

This stupid young sleepyeagle punk for some reason thinks he is entitled to the fruits of my labor. Did he pay my student loans? Has he ever paid my bills? Or my mortgage? Has he ever given me a hand out of any kind? Why then should I give him the time of day? Maybe he is just ignorant because he has not yet felt the sting of large tax bites taken from him when he is playing by the rules to give to those that have not. Everything I have I have earned! I am sick and tired of do-gooders thinking they are entitled to a hefty chunk of it to give to whatever worthy cause they can dream up. And I am not rich by a long shot!
Health insurance, bank bailouts, auto bailouts, Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid, welfare – they are all symptoms of legalized theft through the tax system. This young man desperately needs to do some of his own research, and the link I posted above is a great starting place.

I think you hit the proverbial nail on the head here. What I find so fascinating about the takers is that studies are showing they give very little. Even Obama, during the election, was discovered to have given so little to charity it was almost laughable. Yet, they have no problem believing it is right to take from us and give to others. Perhaps the reason we have much is because we give much. That might be a new principle that they might try in their own lives instead of trying to steal from those around them.

Rick Perry is an important voice in this wilderness we are in right now. Jim DeMint may be the only other person effectively standing up to Obama’s socialism right now. KBH wants to take Perry down. she needs to go back to her liberal parties.

I’m also glad governor Perry is throwing down the gauntlet. Hopefully he will follow through if need be and affirm state’s rights. Obama’s plan is to bail out Medicare and Medicaid (as he said they are going broke and if we don’t fix them the whole economy will be in trouble), but if the government can’t run those systems with a much smaller number of people, then I sure don’t think they can mange it when it’s ten times larger. Likewise, Obama wants to extend abortion services (baby murder) farther and wider than ever as part of the government package – a true American disgrace. Senior citizens are also going to be put onthe chopping block because of their most productive years being behind them. Obama said as much about a 99 year old lady who received a pacemaker. He suggested that families in the future might want to consider whether pain pills would be better. I don’t want the government making those decisions anymore than I want- or like- the private insurance companies doing it, but if the insurance company does it, then maybe I can sue. If the government refuses the pacemaker, who would I go to? The governemnt should regulate or deregulate the insurance companies, but otherwise stay out of the health business. If the gov. enters in, then they have a conflict of interest, and we lose the government as a check and balance.

I would love to see the federal courts uphold the provisions in the 10th Amendment, but these courts along with other parts of the federal government actually feel that their power is threatened by the the provisions in the 10th Amendment and these people jealously guard the power they have acquired over the years. Sadly the provisions in the 10th have been at time determined by force of arms, the Civil War and the incident when 17,000+ federal troops were sent into the small sleepy of Oxford, Mississippi in the 1960’s (a town of some 5,000 people) I was there and saw the full weight of federal power.

LEAD, FOLLOW, OR GET OUT OF THE WAY. (Thomas Paine)
We have the 37th worst quality of healthcare in the developed world. Conservative estimates are that over 120,000 of you dies each year in America from treatable illness that people in other developed countries don’t die from. Rich, middle class, and poor a like. Insured and uninsured. Men, women, children, and babies. This is what being 37th in quality of healthcare means.
I know that many of you are angry and frustrated that REPUBLICANS! In congress are dragging their feet and trying to block TRUE healthcare reform. What republicans want is just a taxpayer bailout of the DISGRACEFUL GREED DRIVEN PRIVATE FOR PROFIT health insurance industry, and the DISGRACEFUL GREED DRIVEN PRIVATE FOR PROFIT healthcare industry. A trillion dollar taxpayer funded private health insurance bailout is all you really get without a robust government-run public option available on day one.
YOU CANT HAVE AN INSURANCE MANDATE WITHOUT A ROBUST PUBLIC OPTION. MANDATED PRIVATE FOR PROFIT HEALTH INSURANCE AS YOUR ONLY CHOICE IS UNETHICAL, CORRUPT, AND MORALLY REPUGNANT. AND IT IS ALSO PROBABLY UNCONSTITUTIONAL AS WELL.
These industries have been slaughtering you and your loved ones like cattle for decades for profit. Including members of congress and their families. These REPUBLICANS are FOOLS!
Republicans and their traitorous allies have been trying to make it look like it’s President Obama’s fault for the delays, and foot dragging. But I think you all know better than that. President Obama inherited one of the worst government catastrophes in American history from these REPUBLICANS! And President Obama has done a brilliant job of turning things around, and working his heart out for all of us.
But Republicans think you are just a bunch of stupid, idiot, cash cows with short memories. Just like they did under the Bush administration when they helped Bush and Cheney rape America and the rest of the World.
But you don’t have to put up with that. And this is what you can do. The Republicans below will be up for reelection on November 2, 2010. Just a little over 13 months from now. And many of you will be able to vote early. So pick some names and tell their voters that their representatives (by name) are obstructing TRUE healthcare reform. And are sellouts to the insurance and medical lobbyist.
Ask them to contact their representatives and tell them that they are going to work to throw them out of office on November 2, 2010, if not before by impeachment, or recall elections. Doing this will give you something more to do to make things better in America. And it will help you feel better too.
There are many resources on the internet that can help you find people to call and contact. For example, many social networking sites can be searched by state, city, or University. Be inventive and creative. I can think of many ways to do this. But be nice. These are your neighbors. And most will want to help.
I know there are a few democrats that have been trying to obstruct TRUE healthcare reform too. But the main problem is the Bush Republicans. Removing them is the best thing tactically to do. On the other hand. If you can easily replace a democrat obstructionist with a supportive democrat, DO IT!
You have been AMAZING!!! my people. Don’t loose heart. You knew it wasn’t going to be easy saving the World. 🙂
God Bless You

Section 102 says that there won’t be any option but the public option. An option congress decided not to inflict on themselves, just us.
And the correct spelling is lose, not loose. I see it so often I had to finally say something.

What our congressmen, liberals or republicans, don’t get is that NOWHERE in the Constitution is found the right to provide ANY health care, private or public. The gov. should stay out of this business.

And that right there is the most important and most neglected point of this whole debate. Namely, that it is not the responsibility of the Government to provide anything. The sole responsibility of our Federal Government is to secure, ie protect, our natural and Constitutional liberties. Period. Granted, in order to porperly protect said liberties, the Government does require certain powers and a necessary amount of bureaucracy, but the point is that our Government has become a bloated monster, picture Jaba the Hut.
And it is not only the lazy welfare indigent population that we have to worry about. We have far too many people, sheep, that are perfectly content to let the Government provide for them so that they don’t have to worry about it. I have a big problem with that. As we here know, that attitude just allows the Government the power to control all other aspects of our lives.
The bottom line is the question, Do you want freedom or do you want to be taken care of?
I choose freedom and will take care of my own responsibilities. That’s what built this country. What has taken us down is that we allowed to many who don’t value true freedom to come in and water down our National ideals.

Unfortunately people are lazy, and do want to be taken care of. Those of us who want to make our own way are few and far between. I think you stated it perfectly when you wrote, “What has taken us down is that we allowed to many who don’t value true freedom to come in and water down our National ideals.” We’ve gone soft as a nation.
“I choose freedom and will take care of my own responsibilities.”
And if you want an abortion, pay for it yourself! I resent my tax dollars being used for something I find atrocious.

Jack Smith – 37th percentile – You are right but who is it that ranked us there and why? WHO did and it was based on their perception of fairness.
“And where did America rank on this infamous, widely debunked W.H.O. survey? Thirty-seventh; just below Costa Rica and above Slovenia. The last time I checked, I didn’t notice tens of thousands of people flying to Costa Rica for surgery. But, when severely biased organizations use such subjective concepts as “fairness” to rank a country’s health care, one shouldn’t be surprised. Oddly, the W.H.O. didn’t seem bothered by “fairness” for little things like – oh, let’s say – survival rates from cancer. In the U.S., roughly 66.3% of women diagnosed with cancer survive at least five years. And in far-superior Europe? 60.3% in Sweden, 49.8% in Italy, and 44.8% in Great Britain. What exactly the W.H.O. believes is “fair” about relegating cancer patients to sub-standard treatment and shorter life spans is unclear.”
That is from this awesome article @ http://bighollywood.breitbart.com/vdipippo/2009/07/25/why-amy-fears-obamacare/
This isn’t about the right or left, it is about liberty and freedom. I want to choose! I am more capable than the government to decide what healthcare I need and what is best for me.

I certainly hope it is a distinct possibility that Gov. Perry is thinking about national office. We don’t have Mitt anymore b/c he is the example for stupid universal healthcare. And Sarah, well, I just heard her exit speech— still don’t know what she is going to do. The first thing I would do if I were her would be to give Julie Banderas a nice b!#*h slap. There’s sure room for the Texas Governor’s
position on states rights and Federal Intervention.
Let’s know that the Federal McCarran Ferguson
act (1945) gave jurisdiction to the states on
Insurance. Then, ERISA premempted states laws
on self funded health employer plans where 70%
of Americans get health coverages. Only about
15% get it from insurance that involves actual
financial risk transfer. That 15% is taxed
by the states at about 2 to 3%. Take that
general revenue stream out with a Federally run
“Public” option and some states go broke.(Just little
details that have been around.)
Oh well, if Obama ends up unwittingly signing
an illegal healthcare reform act, it will
give the Supreme Court a chance to look at
a lot of things, rushed and overlooked
by non-expert politicians.
