Nebraska Lawmakers to Debate State’s Rights to Stop President Obama

July 27, 2009

It looks like we can add another state to the list of states who is looking to shield themselves from Barack Obama’s over-reaching federal government. Nebraska is now beginning the process of declaring their sovereignty under the 10th Amendment of the Constitution.

My goal here is to shine light on the fact that the federal government is overstepping its bounds,” said State Sen. Tony Fulton of Lincoln. “We would be making a statement on behalf of Nebraska

Naturally opponents of this movement are harking back on slavery and the civil rights movement to counter any argument for a state to declare its sovereignty. This is an old argument and it is a convenientargument frankly it just does not apply. This argument just proves that Obama supporters do not have a leg to stand on so they have been reduced to name calling.

The truth is that Barack Obama is trying to expand the federal government and people are beginning to become leery of it. That us what this movement is about. Instead of arguing for Barack Obama’spolicies the opponents of state’s rights try to tie this movement in with slavery and racism. They do this because they are either unwilling or unable to defend Barack Obama’s over-reaching agenda.

With the several states that have come out against the bloated federal government I find myself more hopeful that we can turn this trend of massive government expansion around. People are still not ready to hand over every aspect of their lives to government just yet.

This may not bode well for the Obama administratiopn in the next election.

This nation was founded as a republic — certain specified powers belonging to the federal government and only those powers. Are you saying “this is the USA, love it or leave it” to those of us who want to protect our nation from a federal over-reach or to those who want to make our states increasingly powerless?

I believe that he is, he doesn’t seem to understand that an over-reaching federal government was one of the biggest concerns that the founders had when they drafted the constitution.

Ciao, you’re confusing sovereignty with secession.

Nobody is talking about secession just stopping the federal government when it goes too far.

I love it when people let their inner dumbass make a post on occasion…

    Good show ciao…

I just wish our Texas lawmakers would get along with OUR sovereignty resolution, I was hoping they would fast track it, but it’s dragging along in true political fashion…

I wonder if Obama will send federal troops to enforce federal court ruling as Kennedy did in the 1960’s. Time will tell on this issue. Those in power in Washington will not give up their authority easily and they we use every weapon including troops to impose their will.

I just had someone send me an article that states that the Federal government has sent letters to 2 of the states claiming that the Federal law trumps State law.

I am not a fan of Info Wars, however, I wondered if this might be coming down the pike. I have also heard on the gun issue that the government will use the commerce clause to circumvent this problem.

Here is the article I was sent.
