Whole Foods protesters are part of the Democratic National Committee

August 25, 2009

Since the August recess began and representatives started holding their town hall meetings on healthcare reform there has been growing apprehension of the president’s plan to have the government take over the healthcare industry. Representatives were met with hard questions and with protesters. The left has tried to claim that these were not real protesters. The left has been trying to marginalize the protesters by claiming that they were nothing more than paid GOP operatives and pain insurance company mouthpieces. Do I disagree with the notion that some of the people were paid to protest? No, but I think that it is a very small percentage of the people. There is real apprehension by the people about the government taking care of their healthcare needs for them.

Recently the CEO of Whole Foods wrote an editorial that was critical of the Obama administration’s plan to take over healthcare reform. Protesters (in very small numbers) decided that Whole Foods needed to be boycotted so one or two people ended up protesting outside of Whole Foods. Predictably the protester turnout was small but that is not the point. The point is that  it now turns out that those who did protest were sponsored by the Obama administration. The group that sponsored this failure of a protest is run by the Democratic National Committee.

While this is not surprising, I find it hypocritical that many of the same people who are marginalizing the healthcare reform protesters by claiming that the protesters are just mouthpieces of the GOP are actually engaging in the same type of activity that they are railing against.

All I ask is a little consistency here, is that too much to ask for?

When I had first read about the movement, I liked what I heard: Both that the CEO of Wholefoods had suggested a different plan than that of the president’s could work, but also that the free market was at work by people voicing discontent by using their wallets…

But when a president’s political party (I’m not saying this is a first) starts organizing against businesses that oppose him, I get a bit scared. First boycott, but what next?

The Statists do not believe in freedom of speach unless it’s their speach. Protests arte only valid if they are sposored by, and in coarse with the Statist Agenda. The left are such hypocrites it’s pathetic.

It is interesting how the very people who claim to be so open minded and tolerant are really so closed minded. They don’t want to believe that there are some people who honestly disagree with them.

You got it. They’re “open minded” when in disagreement with the status quo, but as an example, I looked one of these like-minded people in the eye and asked “is there any fact or information that I can present that would change your mind on this point?”. The response: “No.”

As a businessperson I like to think I’m open-minded to a lot of things as my world constantly evolves… but I’m also honest with others and myself to know where I am not so open-minded. These people should do the same.

While they should do the same I don’t think that I would hold by breath if I was you. They think that they are smarter than we are and know what is best for us. Therefor we are supposed to just shut up and let them do what they feel is best for us.

Sorry Pinkeyes but you are either kidding or you show signs of naiveté which is it?
Don’t you know the play book they have been using for years by now?
Accuse your enemies of the very thing you are doing.
    The end justifies the means.
Don’t expect any civility or honesty from the left, you are only going to get fooled if you do.
You of all people should know that and if you don’t you better learn quickly.

We are about to go down the deep dark rabbit hole with or without our consent…They have a mandate ya know…from the people ya know and now for the sake of good ol Ted (A dead man) Congress will lead the way…all the way down the deep dark hole
69,000,000 said so and I am afraid enough of them are so stupid they enable it.

I understand that Rick, I was just trying to point out the hypocricy of the left. I wouldn’t expect anything else from them, this is right out of their playbook.

        Thanks MPEs
I guess I’m the one showing naiveté in that I doubted for one second you might not get it.
Obviously you do and always have.

No problem, sometimes I don’t make my point as well as I would like to and sometimes when I use sarcasm it doesn’t seem to come off well when it is read.

Isn’t that sweet? I would have though that the hippie grocery store would be in lockstep w/ Obama. Good for them. I may just have to visit.

Yep, Obama and his will target anyone who doesn’t tow the party line. And they will use their paid workers to protest and boycott. Obama is a great politician, but a poor political leader and as such, bad for America.

He is showing us why so few senators have ever become president, because all they know how to do is legislate. They do not know how to run anything and they do not know how to lead. The healthcare debate is a perfect example of this.

That boycott really worked. Whole Foods stock hasn’t been this high since last May.
