Barack Obama calls Kanye West a jackass

September 14, 2009

When Joe Wilson yelled “you lie” to the president during his speech the other night he was accused of breaking protocol and ended up having to apologize.

Today President Obama, in what surely must be a breach of protocol called an American citizen, Kanye West, a jackass for his now infamous appearance on the MTV video music awards. He did this while he was making off the record comments but the comment was reported anyway.

A sitting American president called an American citizen a jackass and you know what? The president is exactly right. Kanye West typifies exactly what is wrong with the younger generation in America today, he is a jackass, and I am glad that the president called this moron out.

As wrong as you may feel that Joe Wilson’s outburst was, Obama’s language was equally wrong but in the end I think both of these comments were justified. Obama was lying, or at least bending the truth, and Kanye West is a jackass. Sometimes the truth hurts.

Yup, it’s unaminous! I would like to add however that I think Taylor and Beyonce both showed amazing class. West is certainly a jackass and I would even use much harsher terms for him.

While Kayne did act stupidly, I think Obama was way out of line. Can you imagine if this were reversed and Bush did this? We would never hear the end of it. Not only that, how many more times is Obama gonna get caught saying things about the American people “off the record.”

Every day I find less and less to like about him.

Please Bush didnt care enough about the black community to notice anything about that. Everyone is trying so hard to discredit the President and its crazy. What happened to respecting the office? Nobody has done that since President Obama has gotten in office. Nobody addresses his as ‘President Obama’ they (mainstream media) only refer to him as Obama and that is disrespectful. I can go on and on about the disrespect of our President. So what he called a ass an ass……Kanye acted an ass and President Obama called him what he was.

With all due respect, Nisha, do not start with the “disrespecting the office of the President” line. From the day he took office, President George W. Bush was attacked by the Democrats and they are still after him today. He was never given the respect the office deserves. President Obama also deserves respect as our President, but that shouldn’t stop us from disagreeing with his policies. As for your claim that the mainstream media addresses him only as Obama, that is false. I listen to NPR and ABC News on the radio a lot and they are constantly calling him President Obama. I am not sure where you get that belief from?

Disrespecting the offoce of the president did not begin with Obama. The meida never call Bush “President Bush” as they do with Obama, they called him “Mister Bush.”

Dominique, I thought about that as well and you are right. Bush would have been vilified in the media but I still can’t get upset about this. Kanye West is a jackass and I just am not upset that Obama called him out (even if it was supposed to be off the record,) and you know that I am not one to cut this president ANY slack.

I seem to remember President Bush saying some very off-colored remarks about another head-of-state, but I can’t remember who it was. At any rate, I am sure there may be more of these kinds of remarks made that never see the light of day. It depends on who the “culprit” is and who the reporter is. To be honest, I am really surprised that the President’s remark was ever twittered to begin with. Most of the media seems very willing to bend over backwards to make Obama look as good as possible.

Presidents and people aspiring to be president need to act as if they are constantly on camera when in public. As for West, he is a jackass. Remember, this is the guy who said that Bush hates black people.

Jackass is one of those words that people “who don’t swear” always use. Obama’s opinion is right on. President’s have always used that kind of language. LBJ’s (not so) Great Society was full of jackasses. So was his administration. The only difference now is that conservative President’s can’t use any kind of language without severe criticism. Obama’s comment was taken by the media as it should be, quite normal.

Allow me to add fuel to the fire—West’s remarks were quite obviously racist and I surprised that many have not picked up on it. Is it just that a black man can’t be racist. I don’t see many in my neck of the woods, but I have definately encountered many in other places and they stand out. Most of my black friends are good decent people, but their are many, very many who walk around with a chip on their shoulder thinking whitey owes his something for past abuses. Michelle Obama is one for sure and probably her husband who shall remain nameless. West is just another racist black man who stumbled into success despite his obvious hatard toward white people.
