Democrat calls the healthcare reform bill gibberish

October 2, 2009

Some of the most critical comments about the healthcare reform bill have come from a Democrat on the Senate Finance Committee, Thomas Carper of Delaware. He admits that most members of congress will not read it because nobody understands what the hell it says.

I don’t expect to actually read the legislative language because reading the legislative language is among the more confusing things I’ve ever read in my life

He is admitting that he, and most others will not bother to read the bill because it is too confusing. If this bill is too confusing for the people who wrote the bill to understand than how are we supposed to blindly believe that they are doing what is right for the American people with this bill?

  But he goes on:

Carper described the type of language the actual text of the bill would finally be drafted in as “arcane,” “confusing,” “hard stuff to understand,” and “incomprehensible.”   He likened it to the “gibberish” used in credit card disclosure forms

He calls the healthcare bill “gibberish” and incomprehensible yet we are supposed to believe that congress knows what the hell they are voting on. This is a man who is on the Senate Finance Committee who is admitting that even he doesn’t understand the language that is in the bill, because of this he sees no need to read the bill. How many others who will be voting for this legislation fall into the category of not understanding the bill that they will be voting on? How many others will blindly vote for this bill without understanding what is in it in order to tow the party line?

Politicians, who supposedly are the best and brightest among the American people, are about to vote on a bill without even understanding the “gibberish” that they are voting for. Is this supposed to give us a warm and fuzzy feeling?

I realize that *us Right wingers* bitch about the strangest things, but, if the Dems wrote it, and can’t even begin to read and understand it, I have to ask, just WHO is strange here??

I think it’s time for a Constitutional Amendment requiring that all legislation produced by the House and Senate be readable in laymans’ language.

I also think we need another Constitutional Amendment requiring that all legislation written apply first and foremost to the House and Senate, so that they can not exempt themselves from boondoggles like the “health care” bill.

We already know congress doesn’t read the legislation. This guy is saying he’s too stupid to figure out the language. He’s going to vote for it anyway.

At least he is homest, I guess. This makes you wonder how many others are voting for the bill who don’t know what the hell it means.
