Nancy Pelosi says the Value Added Tax is on the table

October 6, 2009

Nancy Pelosi is now on the record as saying that a Value Added Tax is on the table in order to pay for the healthcare reform bill. The Value Added Tax (VAT) is a tax that is put on manufacturers as value is added to the product that is being manufactured.

Nancy Pelosi has also said that this VAT, if implemented, will not affect middle class Americans. This is bullshit. If a tax is implemented on a manufacturer that tax will be passed on to the consumer. A tax is nothing more than an expense to a manufacturer and the manufacturer always passes the expenses incurred in the production of their goods on to the consumer.

It is really simple to understand, the VAT will amount to a national sales tax. Americans will pay more for every purchase they make. When Barack Obama was running for president he claimed that the middle class would not see ANY tax increase, that promise was already broken with the cigarette tax increase and if the VAT ever passes he will have broken his no new taxes pledge yet again.

Germany has a 20% VAT, and believe me, they don’t like it…

    Neither will we.

There is NO WAY to place a TAX on any manufactured good and not expect the maker to pass that cost on to us…

My God, Pelosi is as stupid as she is repulsive…

It really is a simple concept. Nancy Pelosi must realize this, she just doesn’t care. Maybe I give her too much credit though, perhaps she is too stupid to understand this.

The VAT will be paid by all consumers regardless of economic condition. This would amount to a huge sales tax. Spending and taxing is all these guys can come up with.

Perhaps they feel that because this tax is hidden in the cost of the product that the American people will not realize they are being taxed. Or perhaps they feel that the American people will blame the manufacturers for the increase in price. Then the government will step in and “regulate” these companies as well.
