Maxine Waters to be investigated by Ethics Committee
California Democrat Maxine Waters is going to be investigated by the House Ethics Panel for a possible violation. As a member of the House Financial Services Committee, and as chairman of its subcommittee. Maxine Waters has been working hard to solve, or at least ease, the banking crisis.Perhaps she has been working just a little too hard. It seems that she may have arranged for a meeting between a small bank, OneUnited Bank, and the Treasury Department and used her influence to sway the department to send government aid to the bank.
No problem, after all we needed to help the small banks survive the crisis, right? Not so fast. Maxine Waters just happened to forget to mention to the Treasury Department that her husband was a former board member and currently has $250,ooo in stocks in that bank.
She is now being investigated to see if she unethically used her power to directly benefit herself and her husband. As the wife of a stockholder in a bank that received government aide, she arranged for a meeting to help provide that aid, forgot to tell anyone that her husband was a stockholder, and we are supposed to believe that nothing unethical happened here. I don’t think so. There are too many coincidences.
She is innocent until proven guilty so she should be allowed to remain a California Representative, but she can not serve on the House Financial Services Committee while this investigation is ongoing. She needs to step down from that committee until the investigation is over.

Waters being investigated by her contemporaries is akin to giving the fox the keys to the hen house…

True, nothing will come of this but at least it has been brought to light. The Democrats will rally around her and most likely this will fade away.

Do you really think Nancy P. will have her step down while the investigation goes forward and what a joke the investigation will be, Ha!

No, it will never happen but I can dream can’t I? 🙂

Her husband was more than a stockholder. He helped drive that bank into the ground. Texas Fred is right though. Like the Chris Dodd fiasco, I bet this thing goes nowhere. That’s where the American people come in. Throw these bums out.

If nothing is done by congress to punish Waters than it is time for the American people to do the job for them.

It seems to me that this is a clear-cut conflict of interest. The woman should voluntarily step down from her position on the committee until the situation is resolved.

That is all I am asking for, if she is found not guilty than she can hove her committee back.

This is wayyyyyyyy past due. This woman not only shouldn’t be in office because of her ethics but she is one of the most incompetent and corrupt women ever to be in office.

Unforunately I don’t think anything will end up happening to her.

I think a better solution would be if she is found to be guilty, “we the people” vote her out of office. I highly doubt that the progressives will even consider the idea!

They don’t care if she is guilty or not, they will still support her. A state rep in Massachusetts, Chuck Turner, just won re-election last night and he was caught on video by the feds accepting bribes. He is under indictment but that did not matter to the liberals.
