GITMO detainees will be offered Swine flu vaccinations
The Pentagon is going to start offering the GITMO detainees Swine flu shots. The GITMO detainees have been catagorized as a higher risk group and so the vaccination will be made available to them. I am not really sure how they can be a higher risk group if they are detained from the outside world without contact except from the guards on duty (who are required to be vaccinated). It would seem to me that their risk of exposure would be lesser than the risk of ordinary American citizens who are still not able to find the vaccination if they want it.
The news that the United States is going to ship doses of the vaccination overseas before all Americans are able to get the flu shot is troubling enough; I just hope that the GITMO detainees will have to wait in line until all wanting Americans have gotten the shot. But by classifying the detainees as a high risk group it sounds like they will be among the first to receive the shots.

Does this mean that if the detainees become infected with the swine flu that they will become unclean forever and not be allowed to enter their version of heaven?
I guess we can’t have that happen to these murderous radicals…

I think that is does. One of the reasons that we are supposed to call the swine flu the h1n1 virus is because the name “swine flu” offended some Muslims.

It certainly seems that way, doesn’t it?

Forget the detainees, forget overseas, send the tamiflu here! H1N1 is here already. I know now of 2 children in the Methuen Haverhill area that have it. I am usually the cynic, yes, I know it’s hard to believe, but with these two cases from people that I know, then that tears it for me.

It seems that our government is failing us on this issue. I thought that the president’s main duty was to protect the American people.

I strongly suspect that the vaccine has been offered to many who are in federal prisons across the country. If one was able to check I’m almost sure it will be the case. The federal courts demand that them the government “takes away ones freedom–that’s a joke” that the state then assumes responsibility for that persons welfare. This is what its come to in this country.

I know that in Massachusetts the vaccine was going to be made available to inmates on a priority level. As Deb can attest to, the flu is spreading in the state and it certainly seems as though there are people at risk who will not recieve the vaccine ahead of these inmates.

And I saw a map on a website that showed how many doses have been sent to each state and what percentage of the population it covered. Where? where is it? in John Kerry’s office? In Deval’s? THe time for red tape has passed.

Maybe it has to do with the fact that they are housed in close quarters. I know there is a story out there of a Naval ship that was given the flue shot and then quarantined out at sea because almost all of them came down with it and the Captain and another soldier died from the injection. So maybe it more about lots of people in a small space.
Did I just defend or rationalize this? Time for a glass of wine, perhaps!

Being a pregnant woman who has been told time and time again that I am high risk and I must get the vaccine, yet I can’t find it anywhere, this angers me to no end! Even though I usually never get a flu shot (and had no intentions of getting either vaccine) it has been stressed upon me by my doctor that I must have both shots, but there are NONE to be found anywhere!!! I just can’t believe that as a hard-working, tax-paying, health-insurance carrying American, I can’t get vaccinated, but inmates and detainees can. Apparently, their lives are worth more than mine and that of my unborn child as I remain un-vaccinated and will continue to be until “hopefully sometime by the end of November” as my doctor told me last week. It’s ridiculous.

You are in my family’s prayers, Allison. I’m sure everything will be absolutely fine.

Hopefully the vaccine will be available at the end of the month.
It is absolutely disgusting that people who have been told they are high risks cannot get the vaccine that they are told they need. I can understand the theory behind sending some of the doses oversears to prevent a worldwide pandemic but the president and the government have a responsibility to the American people first and foremost and they are neglecting that duty. On the other hand providing GITMO detainnes the vaccine before American citizens is beyond disgustin, it is criminal in my book.
Hang in there, as Deb said I am sure everything will be fine.

I first read this yesterday on this post and after thinking about it more it really is quite disgusting that something like this would be allowed and Americans should be outraged, but I doubt that will happen as the story doesn’t seem to have legs. Thank you for pointing this out.

The more I think about this the madder that I get. This story probably doesn’t have legs because the media doesn’t want it to have legs. The Obama administration is criminal in this case and the media are accomplices to the crime.
