Harry Reid wants the senate to vote on healthcare reform without even seeing the bill

December 17, 2009

When congress passed the disastrous and failed stimulus bill nobody in the House or Senate had a chance to read the bill before they voted on it. As dumbfounding as it is that a person could vote on a bill without bothering to read what they are voting on, Harry Reid has taken it to another level on the healthcare reform bill.

He is not even allowing senators to SEE the healthcare reform bill that he wants them to debate and vote on. He is not even giving them a chance to read the bill this time.

And here’s the most outrageous part: at the end of this rush, they want us to vote on a bill that no one outside the Majority Leader’s conference room has even seen. That’s right. The final bill we’ll vote on isn’t even the one we’ve had on the floor. It’s the deal Democrat leaders have been trying to work out in private’

That statement was made by Republican Leader Mitch McConnell.

When running in the 2008 elections the Democrats promised a more open and transparent administration but now that they are debating one of the most important pieces of legislation ever to be rammed down the people’s throats, not only are they not letting the American people see the bill, they are not letting those that must vote on the bill the chance to see it either.

The notion that a senator would be asked to vote on a bill they have never seen is ludicrous. What is Harry Reid trying to hide? Why is he conducting the negotiations behind closed doors? What is so insidious about this bill that he doesn’t dare to, nor have to common decency to, let the senate see the bill he will ask them to vote on?

The bill should be killed for this reason alone, why would any bill that is any good be voted on blindly? What is Harry Reid trying to hide?

This is so tragic, I can’t really find words to say. I just end up laughing when I imagine what the reaction would be if a Republican majority would attempt this.

The outcry would be incredible from the left. While Republicans like McConnell release memos, Harry Reid and Pelosi would be on television screaming and hollering about it. Maybe the Republicans can’t get the face time on television.

I just received an email from FRC and they are saying their are indications that a vote will take place on Christmas Eve and/or Christmas Day. I knew they were going to pull something.

Did you read about Coburn making them read the Senate Bill! Ha! I loved that one. I think Larry wrote on it!

I don’t think that it should take too long. More and more people are opposing this every day.

Maybe they thought they would shove/sneak it through while Obama was out of the country. Kill the bill! Kill the bill!

It’s getting clearer every day. They intend to pass health care reform after some fashion and they really do not care how the average American citizen feels about it. It is very frustrating, as they seem to think that they know better than us what is good for us. I take great exception to that kind of thinking.

The part that bugs me the most is this “we know what is best for you” attitude that congress seems to be displaying.

Larry, every person in this nation should take great exception to that kind of thinking. But sadly, there’s far too many that are still counting on *The FREE Cheese*…

TexasFred, you are so right. More and more every day, I am seeing and hearing from people who seem to think it is perfectly acceptable to take from those who have more and give it to those who do not. I even heard one of my coworkers say yesterday, “after all, how much money does one person need?”. I admit that some people are making obscene amounts of money by speculating, but if our government goes down the road of taking away from those who have a lot and giving it to those who have less, where will that road end?

Larry, it will lead to people who no longer have the desire to work hard and become successful. I thought part of the benefit of living in America was the idea that anybody can make it if they apply themselves but what incentive will they have if the government punishes them for success. Some may make more money than they need but that shouldn’t be up to the government to decide. It is so frustrating.

This action by Reid reminds me of an old, old song “Dancing in the Dark”, while dancing in the dark might be great, voting in the dark is nuts.

Sooner or later the lights will come on and we will see the mess that we got ourselves into, but by then it will be too late.

It very well may be – the reason, that this is so secret is due to the fact, that it was spawned in the bowels of the White House. We have selective amnesia in this country. Recall that in July-Aug lobbyists of Insurance – Big Pharma (also Delay – read his book if you want to see the real scam) met at the White House. Dr. Ezekiel (hired quietly) Emanuel is a top adviser/ Dr. Zeck is not a champion (read his numerous papers) of serving seniors (handicapped etc) who are no longer contributing members (worker bees) to society – but rather a drain.

Looks like the whole Chicago gang moved to Washington – including (imagine) Valerie Jarrett known as the queen of slums in Chicago. Valerie is Michele’s best friend. She’d be my best friend too –she got Michele her $316,000 job at Chicago University Hospital .

This tasteless job, had poor/ Medicaid citizens shipped from ER at the University Hospital to outlying charity hospitals – clinics. The University which recives billions in federal monies didn’t want burdened like other hospitals with all these costs. Axelrod (also in White House – speech writer) was the PR person.

This is NOT about health reform but a Bonanza for the insurance hogs. No tort reform – no repeal of anti trust – you will still be enslaved to the insurance monopoly (whatever few exist in your state) – premiums will skyrocket – FINES will be given to those who REFUSE to buy this mandated (fined to live?) insurance, despite your limited choice or cost. Gosh this new freedom is a bummer eh? Check out the hurried Stimulus Bill (one week) – when the sky would fall if they didn’t (without reading) vote on it immediately. Inserted into it’s hundreds of pages is health language (huh?) stating that medical records will be electronically recorded and an Advisory Board (civilians appointed by President or probably Rahm) who will decide who will receive treatments / determined by age – cost – other medical factors. Some call this RATIONING a death panel – guess it all depends on where you stand? The President and Washington elite (phew) are safe. They have lifelong Cadillac coverage (we subsidize their premium costs to the tune of 75%).

Pretty good eh – no wonder they wouldn’t think of having the SAME coverage they’re dumping on us. They have DOZENS of choices (yearly) with NO waiting – no co-payments – no problem with pre-existing conditions/ including sociopathic tendencies that render ‘some’ without conscience or compassion.
