IRS will need $10 billion a year to enforce healthcare reform law

March 24, 2010

In what should be a scary thought to most Americans, the IRS is about to gain even more power because they will be in charge of enforcing the new healthcare reform law. With that added responsibility comes added costs– $10 billion worth to be exact. And just to make the matter worse, that is $10 billion every year.

But in a maneuver to hide the true costs of this disastrous piece of legislation, the $10 billion a year in additional IRS funds– as estimated by the CBO for the funding of the 16,500 new IRS agents— that will be needed for the IRS to enforce the new healthcare mandates was not included in the bill.

In order to carry out its new monitoring and enforcement duties, the Congressional Budget Office estimated that the IRS will need $10 billion in additional funds, funds which were not made available under the health reform bill.

This money is going to have to come from somewhere yet in order to keep the price tag lower it was not included in the healthcare legislation. Any guess where that money is going to come from?

So they count some numbers twice to then show how they magically reduce the deficit through increased spending, then they “create” more jobs. Won’t this be approximately the same amount as what the bill was thought to have saved ($100bil over ten years)? Yet again another shining example of our government’s inability to understand just how stupid they are.

They had to get the numbers they wanted somehow, and by leaving the cost of the IRS agents off the list– as well as the other tricks they used– they were able to do that.

The sad part about this is that Paul Ryan tried to show everyone how the costs were not being counted or were being hidden. The accounting that is being used to manipulate the numbers in this legislation is very suspect, yet Ryan has been outright ignored by most people. Like Texas Fred said, they will probably call this jobs creation.
