Healthcare reform backlash: 60 proposed hospitals will not be built

April 13, 2010

As is stated in this article, the healthcare reform bill was supposed to increase access to healthcare. Why is it then that the healthcare bill contained language that has in effect stopped the building of at least 60 new hospitals just because they were to be owned by doctors?

The new healthcare reform law prohibits physician owned hospitals from expanding without meeting specific guidelines set by the Department of Health and Human Services. Many of these hospitals simply will not be able to expand and thusly will not be able to help more people with their medical needs.

But the news gets worse for physician owned hospitals as 60 proposed hospitals that were in the planning stages will no longer be built. And this bill was supposed to help people gain access to healthcare? This bill prohibits certain hospitals from expanding and has put the brakes on plans to build over 60 new hospitals. Why? Just because of the people who own the hospitals? Evidentially, this administration thinks that the doctors who own these hospitals make too much money.

But I think that it goes beyond just limiting how much these doctors can make. Let us not forget that in a speech that Barack Obama gave in 2007, he admitted that he was for single payer healthcare insurance. Adding more people to the healthcare system while stopping hospitals from being either expanded or built seems to be part of the government’s effort to eventually take over the industry.

The question is, is this an unintended consequence or was it part of the plan? Considering that there is a whole section in the healthcare reform bill dedicated to physician owned hospitals, I have to think that the congress knew exactly what they were doing.

Mr. Pink Eyes – I usually agree with your comments & opinions. However, I feel I have to take exception this time. The last sentence of your post assumes that Congress is not a cauldron of bumbling baboons. Hell, I’d be shocked if even half of them even read the stinkin’ bill before they voted on it. Me thinks your logic is flawed!

The scary option is actually just what you suggest…that they did, in fact, know what they were doing and have shown malice and gross misjudgment / misconduct in this bill. I fear that you have once again struck right at the heart of the issue…although I still content that they’re incompetent, bumbling baboons…!

We can meet halfway. Those that inserted the language in the bill knew what would happen while most of the others didn’t read the bill and had no idea this was in there.

Just one more example of the consequences of this massive piece of legislation. As we have all stated before, there will be more of these consequences, some of which are yet to be revealed. Honestly, considering how far-reaching this bill is, I do not see how anyone could predict what some of them will be.

The question is, is this an unintended consequence or was it part of the plan?
I assume that is a rhetorical question.

Even so, let me give answer… YES IT IS PART OF THE PLAN!
Is that loud enough for you?
I am beginning to think you are more interested in being polite then screaming from the house top.
Not to mention another “unintended consequence” How many doctors from around the world come to America to make a good income? How many Doctors from around the world will go to Australia instead of America now that “Insurance reform” is the law of the land.
How many Americans will go to Australia to receive health care they can no longer get in the USA?
I know I will and others already have.

I agree, it was part of the plan. This is all designed to lead us down the path to single payer. government controlled healthcare. My last sentence confirmed that this is what I thought was the case.
Blogging every day is very time consuming and it is harder than it seems– probably more so when you are writing about politics– there are days when my heart isn’t in it but I feel like I must post anyway. To be honest, Teusday was one of those days. I just didn’t have “it.”

Like you have said before this is commentary not news.
I have no blog and write only when I feel like it so I cannot be taken so seriously.
I come to your blog because I like your attitude. I come to your blog just about every day and I am glad you are there.

I think maybe I am getting a little too angry over all this political happening, so much so that I snap at even the friends of freedom like you.

Thanks Rick, I know how frustrating it can be at times following this administration and the way they are operating.
