Obamacare: healthcare rationing and high premiums

July 3, 2010

It is time to touch on a subject that I haven’t written about in awhile– healthcare reform. There are two topics I would like to write about today: rationing and high premiums.

First, rationing:

In order to save money because there simply is not enough to go around– the Obama regime is admitting that they may have to turn sick people away from a program that was designed to help high risk patients. There are other options also, including reducing benefits to these high risk patients.

Officials said the administration could also consider reducing benefits under the program, or redistributing funds between state pools. But they acknowledged turning some people away was also a possibility.

This particular program was designed to help those with pre-existing conditions who will not be eligible for healthcare coverage until 2014 when insurance companies will be forced to insure them. But there is not enough money to fund the program and so a choice must be made between covering fewer people or covering fewer procedures.

Correct me if I am wrong, but isn’t this a form of rationing? When Sarah Palin spoke out about death panels, this is exactly what she was talking about– the fact that the government may have to start turning people away to save money, in effect deciding who received the healthcare they needed to survive and who didn’t– not actual death panels. It looks as if Sarah Palin was right after all. People with pre-existing serious illnesses do not seem to be any better off under this program than they were before the signing of the healthcare reform legislation.

Second, high premiums:

It appears as if this government run healthcare program isn’t as affordable as the government claimed it would be. Many people with pre-existing conditions who currently cannot afford healthcare, may also not be able to afford this program either.

There are going to be meaningful premiums that are going to be required to stay in this plan — premiums in the hundreds of dollars every month,” Popper said. “There are a significant number of people out there with pre-existing conditions who are uninsured, but a significant number of those people … also have limited income. And some of them, while they may need this plan, the premiums may not be something they can afford

The president claimed that this plan would provide affordable healthcare to millions of uninsured Americans, and while there are many American who will possibly benefit from this plan if they are not turned away for lack of funds, there are still going to be millions of Americans who cannot afford the government run healthcare options. How does this help them?

People with the most serious, life threatening illnesses are going to find out the hard way that they may not be able to afford coverage, and even if they can afford the coverage, the government may not be able to afford to take care of them.

Welcome to Obamacare: healthcare rationing and high premiums. Meet the new boss, same as the old boss.

I said this when they were touting all the wonderful benefits. This administration is nothing but a den of thieves and liars. I have no doubt they knew this all along.

What is amazing to me is that people keep believing all their new shenanigans! Incredible!

And you are so right. Sarah Palin was right and is right on most of what she says about this administration and yet she is being skewered for taking a stand. I so hope she runs for President. God I hope she runs and wins. That would really make this people mad!

I am one of those people who will be pushed to the side instead of treated. I have been preparing for that day. To be honest, it is a little scary because as my illness progress towards the end, I have no idea what that will look like under the guise of wonderful Obama care. I have even had a doctor jokingly tell me it won’t be pretty.

Thankfully, I have found ways for now to treat my symptoms with herbs and avoid doctors all together for the time being.

It makes me so angry that these people who need this care – truly need it – will be the first to be placed on the chopping block. (head shake)

And those premiums! My gosh! I guess we shouldn’t be surprised since we were also told that people making under 250,00 wouldn’t see a tax increase either! Ha!

I think I’m going to buy some BS headsets this weekend so I can start filtering out the BS from the truth! Or maybe a better idea is to invent them so those falling for this BS can hear the truth! 🙂

I think they knew this all along aw well. There is no way that they really thought they could add all of these people to the system and the cost would go down. It makes no sense, that is why so many of us think there is a hidden agenda here.
Hang in there Dominique, I hope that you are able to continue to get the treatment you need and I hope the herbal remedies continue to work.

    Most likely.

I guess the President and the Dems should just have given up on an ambitious plan to try to benefit a significant number of Americans when it became clear that there’d be problems in the transition from the status quo to the new system, as well as when it became obvious that not everyone eligible would be able to afford it.

Better to leave a large pool of uninsured, I guess, than to get the majority of them covered.

The plan was too ambitious, if they wanted to ensure a smoother transition it should have been down in increments.

    Will cover everyone: Lie

    Will reduce premiums: Lie

    Will cover pre-existing conditions: Lie

Will the lying ever cease? I think we all know the answer to that.

On second thought, if this is the President’s idea of “doing” something, I’d prefer he did not. THankfully I have been blessed with good health so I can work, and help others. I do not know how I would feel to have a condition tha prevented me from doing so. But to also have to worry about not being able to afford treatment/medicine, etc.? I guess B. Obama was not told as a child what the rest of us were— money does not grow on trees.
