Nancy Pelosi wants those that oppose the Ground Zero mosque investigated
Many people have asked for an investigation into where the funding for the Ground Zero mosque was coming from but as of yet nobody with the authority in the Congress has been willing to begin investigating where the funding for this mosque is actually coming from. This news is all the more troubling mow that we have learned that the developers will not rule out accepting money from Saudi Arabia and even Iran.
Now we have learned that there is a group of people that Nancy Pelosi is interested in opening up an investigation on. Nancy Pelosi is now claiming that she would be willing to open an investigation into the groups that oppose building the Ground Zero mosque.
Here is what Nancy Pelosi had to say about those that oppose building a mosque on Ground Zero:
There is no question there is a concerted effort to make this a political issue by some. And I join those who have called for looking into how is this opposition to the mosque is being funded
So to sums this up; Nancy Pelosi has refused to begin an investigation into the funding of the Ground Zero mosque, but she supports investigating the opponents of the mosque. One has to begin to wonder what the hell is going on in the federal government when they are willing to criminalize those that do not agree with their positions. If I am not mistaken the constitution, under the first amendment, guarantees the people the right to petition the government for redress of grievances, and to also peacefully assemble. Yet Nancy Pelosi is now willing to criminalize those that choose to exercise those rights in favor of upholding a right that nobody is denying that the builders of this mosque have–the freedom of religion. One right in the constitution does not render another void.
The people who want to build this mosque have the right to do so, but the people who oppose this mosque also have the right to do so. By calling for an investigation into the opponents of the mosque, Nancy Pelosi is willing to state that one group’s rights under the constitution are subservient to another group’s rights.
It is inconceivable to me that Nancy Pelosi would balk at investigating where the $100 million that is flowing into the building of this mosque is coming from, but at the same time is willing to investigate where people who oppose this mosque are getting their money.
She is using the premise that the opponents of this mosque are trying to politicize this issue to justify these remarks, but I would remind her that it was Barack Obama who politicized this issue when he weighed in on a local issue that should have had nothing to do with the federal government.
All that we need to know about the federal government was summed up by Nancy Pelosi, she is willing to use her political power to silence those that do not agree with her positions and all Americans should find this to be a frightening proposition. If she is allowed to get away with this where will it stop? What position will her opponents take next that will raise her dander up to the point where she would be willing to investigate them?
Nancy Pelosi and her ilk do not have the concerns of the American citizens at heart, but are beholden to politically correct ideals and foreign entities who are hell bent on destroying the American way of life in the name of appeasement.
Nancy Pelosi is now trying to back pedal from the outrage that her latest comment has unleashed by claiming that “we agree with the ADL that there is a need for transparency about who is funding the effort to build this Islamic center,” but as of yet she has been totally unwilling to do that. Her past actions–or more accurately, her lack of action–on investigating the funding of the Ground Zero mosque speaks much louder than the words that she issued only under duress.
We learn more and more how far out of touch with the American people Barack Obama and the rest of the Democrats are every day, and reading the ending of Nancy Pelosi’s statement provides us further proof:
as we go forward to an election about the future of our country and two of the first three questions are about a zoning issue in New York City
While it is true that New York City’s zoning laws have the ultimate say in whether the mosque can legally be built, this issue is about much more than a zoning law. That is what Nancy Pelosi fails to understand when she blithely tries to downplay this issue.
The opponents of the Ground Zero mosque are not worried about a zoning law; all that they want is for the final resting place of those victims of September 11th whose bodies were never found to remain a sacred ground and a place where they can come to visit those that were never able to be laid to rest properly and think of the good times they once shared, because to those survivors, this is the only gravestone that they have to remember their loved ones. Ground Zero is their cemetery, and they do not wish to go there and look up at a symbol and a tribute to those that perpetrated this act.
To call this nothing more than a zoning law issue is demeaning, insulting, and shows a real lack of understanding in regards to how many Americans view Ground Zero. Nancy Pelosi should be ashamed of herself.

As if there was any doubt, this proves how messed up the thinking, and thus the priorities, of Pelosi & co. is. Can you say “bass ackward”? The whole mess serves as a nice distraction for the administration, though.

I’m one of those people who strongly oppose this mosque. Tell Pelosi there’s no funding but, we would like to have the ethics committee investigate her and the money she managed to get to her husband’s busines(es) via the bills she’s shoved down America’s throats.
And we will be investigating as soon as we get rid of her.

I do not think the mosque should be built in it’s proposed location and the last time I checked, the only person funding my blog was little old me. I really wonder about Nancy Pelosi. Does she just say the first thing that pops into her head. To explain how much she bothers me, I would gladly campaign for Obama if he were running against her. Now that really did hurt to type. 😉

I do think that there are times when Nancy Pelosi is asked a question and she does just say whatever comes into head without thinking about what she is saying of how it will sound.

Well well welll…
With all the fuss and bother coming from the left about how the Imam’s Constitutional rights of free religious practice are being somehow upended by the protests, the Speaker Speaks.
I would like to point out that the first five words of the 1st Amendment are:
Congress shall make no law…
CONGRESS shall make no law.
The threat to “investigate” the protesters is the first ACTUAL threat to the 1st Amendment in this entire affair. And it came from the Speaker.
The Speaker is actually threatening the 1st Amendment rights of free speech of the people who protest this action. The threat of a Congressional investigation for anyone who speaks out is exactly the sort of thing the 1st Amendment was designed to stop. Pelosi, as Speaker of the House, is specifically forbidden to take action on this issue.
Oddly, no one in the media seems to have noticed this egregious violation of the Constitution.
But then, they wouldn’t, since THEIR right to free speech is doing OK…
